I prefer "Companion" or "Confident"......of the choices offered.....!"Friend" would be another good choice !

When speaking broadly, I generally opt for the terms 'provider' or 'escort'.  Both of those seem to be generally respectful, without being over the top.  Many of the other terms are either seemingly disrespectful, or too close to honorifics - which from my background in kink aren't something that you just give out willy nilly.

I love me a good dutiful Ho. I pay well for just that.

Speaking colloquially with civvie friends, I use "hooker" when referring to myself and either that or "escort" when referring to other ladies.
Speaking publicly, I use "companion".
Speaking colloquially with folks involved here, I use "friend" or "lady" most often, "provider" on occasion.
BCD, I/we use "lover", "slut", "whore" with all manner of delightful and dirty adjectives attached.

There’s a movie from the late 80’s called Working Girls. It’s a very straight-forward, realistic approach to sex work in New York at the time. Worth a watch for sure.

I don't like:
Companion: you are not keeping me company, you are fucking me.
Muse: I am not gazing into your eyes for inspiration, I am watching you blow me.

Jezebel: This connotes a "loose woman." You're not loose if you get paid.

Courtesan: Another word for Mistress, so, no.
Hustler: fine but not sex-specific.

If you didn't get the picture, I hate euphemisms.

I'll admit the best lines are from a buddy (and former volunteer mod here) who:

Agree with most and agree that in general euphemisms are usually unnecessary. I personally don't mind companion escort. I'm looking for more than just sex in the encounter so companion seems to track well with the "one hour girlfriend" characterization (metaphor?) which then captures some of the non-physical aspects of a good session. Escort is just so common and some DO offer time outside the bedroom for outings and dinners or even travel and tour guide type services. I think trying to separately name these various groups differently is splitting hairs and using "hooker" a poor description.

It encompasses fs and fbsm providers and even dancers and OF creators if you want it to.

I dislike putting groups of people in boxes. I tend to use their first name when talking to them. I just am going on a date if need to explain to someone else what I am doing.
