As a newbie to this business, I'm learning as I grow and remaining open to suggestions along the way. That being said, I'm looking to yet again step up in my efforts...

So this is primarily for opinions from the hobbyists, but all are open to contribute.

Of the many escort sites you travel through, do you gauge a lady by the type of page she uses?

Do hobbyists value a custom designed site more than a Rare-escort.com site or a BlogSpot page?

Or from the hobbyists perspective is it all about the images on the page?

To all the gent out there tell me what do you look for in an escort website?

For myself its like this
1-If she designs own page she more likly to treat it as a professional business and custom web pages do draw more attention if done right
2-Pictures do mean alot, it stimulates the senses
But being new to this I am learing to.

and more importantly, does it have an impact of your decision to see a lady because of her site?

thanks..

rare-escorts sites, and whether it would have an impact on my decison to see a lady (since that is what you asked).

Let me first say I have never seen a lady with a "rare escorts" site. But then, in the interests of full discolosure, I have seen very few new ladies in the last year or so, as opposed to old friends - just the way my life in the hobby has progressed.

Would I see a lady with a rare escorts site? Possibly, but I think I can say that when I first open the site, she's already got two strikes against her. I would have to be really, really impressed by what I see - and I am not sure that is possible with the constraints of that site/template.

So, why do I hate rare escorts sites? Let me count the ways.

1) That idiotic and infuriating "add to favorites" pop-up, which I assume is set to be on by default. Yes, it can be turned off (and, Bella, I see that you have - congrats to you). But any lady who leaves it on, I think that would immediately be Strike Three.

2) The pop-up photos are annoying beyond words. Not the fact that they are pop-ups, per se, but the fact that their quality invariably sucks. I don't care how good a photo you start with, whatever rare-escorts does to them, they always come up looking like shit. I think it is almost unimaginable that a photo in that format would make me say to myself "I must see this lady."

3) On the rates page, the currency converter dropdown is just plain stupid. I imagine the creator of rare-escorts is really proud of himself for this, but ... 99.99% of your potential clients only care about US greenbacks. And the 0.01% that care about Euros, or Yen, or whatever are quite capable of doing a conversion themselves - they don't need this ridiculous little annoyance.

4) The template nature of the beast leads to most ladies who use rare escorts putting very, very little of themselves into the site. To me, a lady's thoughts, attitudes, mindset, presentation, etc. are very important. The nature of the template encourages minimal creative input, as compared to building a real website from scratch. I have yet to see a rare escorts site where I get a feeling for what is between her ears - which to me is what counts most in making a decision whether to see her.

There are other annoyances about these sites, but I think you get the idea.

So, at least to this hobbyist, yes it does make a difference. I hope this helps. (FWIW Bella, I do think you are cute - at least as best I can tell from those low-quality photos.)

all of your suggestions are taken to heart.
And I so appreciate a man's point of view.

And *blushes* thanks for the compliment luv.

Here's a better picture for you. Hope it helps sway the decision..

In addition to the above, it shows me how much the lady believes in her own product. Would any serious business person not spend at least 10 times their hourly rate for their main marketing tool? If not, it's a bit of disrespect for those who it is geared to, and says a bit about the provider.

If I see a great lookng girl is comming to NYC, but she's staying at the Red Roof Inn (in Manhattan, it's pretty close to a flop house), I think of her as very "low rent". Same for those who don't respect the business enough to do an appropriate website.

"Would any serious business person not spend at least 10 times their hourly rate for their main marketing tool?"

I completely disagree.  What is says to me is that she is frugal, and her actions and performance will sell itself rather than having to have a flashy website that advertises herself.  I have found that the more the "flash" the less the enjoyable experience.

To me the best websites are the ones that I can view on my PocketPC phone browser, and flash based sites with all the bells and whistles are simply too complicated for that browser.

The design of the Rare Escort Websites is cheap and classless. A custom / expensive look shows that the Provider is serious about what she does.

Someone once said, "You never get a second chance to make a first impression!"

Regardless of which site is used I look for ease of navigation, no "pop-ups" and what I can only state as a feel for the person. I don't generally look at pics until after I've read the "About Me" section and services offered.

Since this IS all about fantasy, I try to see who'll accomodate my fantasy. A 2-3 hour escape into an episode of carnal ambiance.

OK... with that out of the way the practical thing is to stick with the ole Who, What, Where, Why, When and Washington$.

Who - About Me
What - Services
Where - Area Serviced
Why - Because I like being with well mannered people. (Or your own reason)
When - Availability
Washington$ - Donation

Might also want to throw in the What Ifs - Cancelation policy & References

I can appreciate a well designed, high-end website. But if it doesn't answer the above it's only a work of art.

I agree that some ladies get lost in the bells and flash and often forget to address the basics.

I appreciate the W's to go by. I'll keep those in mind.

*muah!*

Bella

1)   Do I gauge a lady by the type of page she uses?  Maybe.  There are plenty of fine ladies that use the rare escort site.  I can usually tell when somebody just throws words up on a rare-escort site, and that will tell me a little about the person.  It's not a deal-breaker, but it might be a factor.

2) Do we value a custom site more than a rare-escort site?  A little.  It tells me that are putting more thought and commitment into their end of the business.  However, I've seen some poor and hastily-constructed custom sites, and on the other hand, I've seen some nice and well thought-out words on a rare-escort sites.  I guess I'm saying that the words are more important than the website itself.

3) For our perspective, is it all about the images?  In my case, definitely not.  For me, I'd say the images are about 50 percent of it.  However, I may not represent the majority.

4) What do we look for in a website?  Images and photos are nice, and perhaps necessary.  But I also look for a compatible attitude, so I'd like to know just a little about the provider or her approach (without getting too personal, of course) beyond the usual boilerplate that tries to appeal to everyone.

Anyway, that's my $0.02.

I started out with a RARE-Escort  do it yourself page and  was not happy with the quality it brought not to mention the professionalism of the site .
I am a firm believer in   we only get one chance to make a first impression .
Spending the little extra $ on quality care goes a long way in this industry .
My web designer is wonderful to work with and is not a fly by night kind of guy .
If you are looking for  quality work to impress the best his work is superb .
Just my .02

I do love it when a Provider makes her website by herself. However, it really truly does not make a difference for me. Pictures, real pictures of a Provider, are worth a thousand words.

We do care.  Rare Escorts has the advantage of ease of navigation, and because of the template it helps the escort not forget important information.  I have seen sites with no donation information, no location, no contact information, and multiple pages of rules.  Your site needs to reflect you.

Ladies, as a web designer and online marketing guru, I must weigh in on this one. I think the answer to the question boils down to what kind of clients you want to attract. Quite frankly, rare-escort sites look cheap. If you are looking for a cheap trick, then that’s what you’ll get. Ladies that invest in themselves and their business attract a different class of gentlemen. Do your clients eat at Burger King or Nobu?

Your website is a reflection of you and your business! Cheap website, cheap photos… cheap product!!!  Effective merchandising is the hook that turns browsers into buyers. A website will help you attract and retain the type of clients you want. This is known as product positioning. If you agree that you are the product, then you must decide what type of clients you want to attract, and at what price.

Finally, buying is an emotional decision. Don’t you just love that exciting grey “Disclaimer/Entry/Splash” page?  And once inside it doesn’t get much better. Rare-escort sites have many distractions that draw ones attention away from you the product. So, even a minimal custom site (~$600) may convert be better then a rare-escort site. That's a small investment, that will pay ongoing dividends.

Hehe, most of them look cheap yes...

But take a look at:
http://nikkiescort.com/
http://magicallizzy.rare-companion.com/

I think they are preparing something... inside... :)

Whenever possible, I think their websites should be unique as well. I can understand a new lady needing to limit cash flow in getting established, but as others have mentioned, there are some of us who enjoy seeing the 'personality' of the lady come out in the style of website she chooses to make a first impression with.

I think that these three are wonderful examples of sites which are nice to look at, easy to find info on, and add 'personality'. (Not being sure of the direct link policy, I have put in the TER review page, so just click on their link from there.)

1 - http://www.theeroticreview.com/reviews/show.asp?ID=43310&pnotes=1
2 - http://www.theeroticreview.com/reviews/show.asp?ID=20552&pnotes=1
3 - http://www.theeroticreview.com/reviews/show.asp?ID=77080&pnotes=1

Additional comments on the above three

For #1 - She has very recently upgraded her website. (The old one was nice as well.) Very clean and easy to navigate. Sola does a good job of giving you all the info you need for making contact, her availability/rates. etc. And, although you don't see her full face clearly, she does what I think all ladies should do: show us a pretty smile! (I see a lot of 'fantasy' photos done by professional photgraphers where the ladies look lovely, dressed in nice lingerie, in nice fantasy poses, but they don't smile! I think most gentlemen here would say that the best thing a lady could wear when they are together is their smile.

For #2 - Victoria has two ways of viewing her site: html and flash. This is good since some prefer a more leisurely viewing experience, and some prefer a lot of activity. Again, information is clear, and the site does not come off as 'run of the mill'.

For #3 - Kudos to Flora for really goiing with a theme that matches her name. Very unique site. Captures the imagination. Fun. Delicate. I'm sure every gentleman has a different experience here, but this is a site that you won't soon forget.

In the end, none is better than another. The question for a lady is what do you want to project? As you are doing, I think getting a cross-section of opinions on a site is a good idea. Since marketing shows men and women, in general, view ads in different ways, I think some women might be surprised at what their site is telling men about themselves that they may not have thought of when they put it together. A particular picture or phrase can carry a lot of meaning.

While I don't like the cookie cutter nature of the rare-escort site, the quality of the lady's website is of secondary importance to her reviews. The most important parts of the website are the photos (should be accurate & recent, duh!) and a little bit of a "get to know me" page.

Like ChiefRedBeard points out, it’s hard to really complain about the format of the Rare-escort.com setup. It has places for all of the information that a hobbyist really needs. It’s obviously of a lower quality than a custom-designed website, but it serves the purpose. I don't judge a lady by the type of page she uses.

What I look for in an escort site are two things – a couple of pictures that give a general sense of the escort’s appearance, and a little creativity in the way she describes herself.

One of my favorite escort websites has a simple, two paragraph story about the anticipation of meeting a client and the first few moments after he arrives. The story is intensely erotic, and shows a nice creative touch. Every time I read it, I want to go back and see her again.

Pictures

Prices

Text is nice, but I can usually make my decision based on those two factors (and the email/phone call interaction).

I know this is backwards from above, but I find that the text is not helpful to me to make my choice.   I actually look at more than the picures, but her expressions (if her face is showing), or body language if not.  If her pictures say to me "you are blessed to be able to see me", then I will pass.  OTOH if the pictures have a "funness" to them that says "Y'all come in here and have a great time", then I am more likely to visit her.

I cannot describe it, but I can see it.

I happen to like the "boiler-plate" sites because it makes it easy to find what I want.  I extremely dislike the flashy flash sites that force you to wait through the loading of animations, and sites that hide the donations, or make you wade through endless text and disclaimers.

I like clean and simple.  Don't make me click through three different slow-to-load pages just to get to a page with a picture of a generic female ass, and some hyperbole in a hard-to-read font about how seeing you will make my previous life totally without any redeeming qualities, and probably lower my cholesterol count besides.

Make sure that your categories of information are easy to find and to figure out -- if you have contact information hidden behind a link that says, "Plant a seed", I may or may not ever find it, even if something moves me to go looking for it.  Provide understandable information, so that I can figure out if I'm interested in seeing you; if I have to email you to find out something as basic as your standard incall or outcall rate, I'm almost certainly going to keep looking.  Provide accurate and descriptive photos; if all you have is some picture that your drunk friend took with a camera phone in an alley, go spring for some actual pics.  A corollary to this is avoiding strange special effects in your pics.  I want to know something about you, and if all your pictures are masked with some godawful sepia wash that makes it impossible to tell if that's your nose or your navel, I'm going to go somewhere else.

I understand if you decide not to show your face; that's a personal thing, and you really may not feel comfortable doing that.  Make sure you're letting me see enough to get an idea of what you look like, though; if your pics are only of you in a bubble bath with your head and one foot showing above the tub, don't waste my time.  It doesn't have to be a beaver shot (in fact, I'd rather it wasn't -- those are gross), but something appealing is essential.  A few pics to showcase a lovely ankle, or a well-filled pair of shorts, are fine, but if all you have are closeup shots, I'm going to suspect that you're afraid to show me the overall package.

On a similar note, there are guys who are looking for some specific races or body types, and others who may rule out some races or body types.  Your pics should be informative enough to meet the needs of both sorts; if he wouldn't like the experience of seeing you, don't waste his time and yours by keeping him from knowing, and if he'd especially like to see you, don't make him put in extra effort to see if you actually meet his fantasy.

I don't particularly care for Blogspot sites, as they often don't get updated, or they don't provide much detail.  The basic rare-escort site is pretty bland, but can be customized; see carawhispers.com or magicallizzy.rare-companion.com for two excellent examples of what can be done.  The photos may not be huge, but they're very informative, and they don't show full-face shots.  Both ladies post often here at TER, and are willing to offer suggestions about setting up a page.

While I do often get told that my website conveys my persoanlity and that's why the client came to see me, I recently decided to get a more customized website.

I still think rare-escorts is (can be)nice, especially as a starting point, but I want to stand apart more.  My reasoning is that I picked a different photographer than a lot of ladies in the area because I wanted to stand out.  My rare-escort site doesn't let me stand out.  Be on the lookout for it in a couple weeks, www.carawhispers.info.

with you Cara.  I've been told the same about my website because I have taken the time to put thoughts into my wording, everything has come from the heart.  I used to have a customized site up until the beginning of last year, and i miss the hell out of it.  I thought i would be leaving the business, so i got rid of it.  A mistake on my part now.

Rare-escorts came in the nick of time because here I was without a site when i decided to stay in the business, so i started putting one together. I had also tried my hand at designing a site on my own and became horribly frustrated. Rare Escorts is easy and convenient and at that time had meant to be temporary.  Then working full time, plus school for me 2 evenings out of the week and other commitments, I didn't follow through on getting a new site.  I like being able to maintain my site and not having to depend upon anyone to change my wording or update pics for me, but I'm going to pursue a customized site for myself as well.

Rare-Escorts websites are nice in a pinch, but shouldn't be a guy's final decision on whether he should see a lady or not.  If a woman's site is well worded, that means she has taken the time and efforts to write about herself.  Another thing is a woman's reviews.  If you hear nice things about her, then there should be no problem, but everyone has their own opinions on these websites.

Happy 4th all!!!

I LOVE my rare-escort site.  However, I have taken the time to have it customized, as well as get rid of all of the "bugs" people complain about with them.  It's not the rare-escort site, it's the user.
