Zika is mainly a threat to unborn fetuses.  For the rest of us, the worst we can get is flu-like symptoms and 80 of those who contract it won't have any symptoms at all. Please don't feed mass hysteria.

for links to Guillain-Barré Syndrome & temporary / lasting paralisys.   It is a dangerous infection.  Primary infection is through mosquitos but seems to be possible STD.  The concern is primarily male to female sexual transmission since it is a devistating disease for the fetus.

Also, it is only carried by a specific breed of mosquito, not all of them

And those mosquitos generally don't appear in the northern US.
