I have a sports bag full of my shit I sometimes carry, (yet rarely use except when it contains a gift)
Also have a college-student style book bag, a backpack / sack, a brief case,  a travel bag, etc.

All have advantages and disadvantages:

Travel bag: The travel bag looks like a tourist, helps blend in.
Briefcase: looks like a business man on travel, blends in but only if I'm wearing a friggin suit.
Backpack: makes me look like a school boy studying for something.
college bag: this one seems a bit more acceptable and casual
sports bag: casual, looks like i came from a gym and ready to play basketball any second.
feel free to include other types of bags.

I notice when a man carries a STYLISH briefcase/messenger bag.  In fact, when I see someone carrying something I like, I ask them about it (where they purchased it, what brand, etc.). It's a great ice breaker!

Men's bags have changed considerably over the years with many crossover types. When looking for one, I suggest you splurge and go with a high-end brand such as Tumi or Prada. You will love the way it makes you feel when you carry it. It makes a statement, says you treat yourself well as all men should.
