but maybe opening things up will help legitimize the hobby.
Consider...how many hobbyists have changed their views of "the hobby" since discovering TER?
I am hearing more and more advertisements for this website on the Howard Stern show. What happens if the news media picks up on this and creates a news story about the website?
The first is that the scruitiny would bring about some form of crack-down on TER specifically and the hobby in general. This often happens after some big media circus like the Sptizer affair.
The second is that it might serve to bring more clients and providers into the fold, and help legitimize the hobby in the long run.
I'm not sure which side of this I would come down on yet.

Featured in practically every expose about the hobby lately I think that being mentioned on Howard Stern is at this point moot.
Now, what remains to be seen is; as mrfisher pointed out, up in the air.

They have more power and authority, they play the game differently with easy axes to you and all your personal information and they have an endless pocketbook of tax payer money for investigations. If we are to become a target which mainstream porn was many years ago watch out..
Like Mr. Fisher said knowing if all this attention is good or bad is a wait and see game..
Local tax dollars are lower than ever and crime is up..Spending so much to stop the pleasure business doesn't make sense to me.

and I see that as the big potential problem for hobbyist and provider alike. The old assumptions no longer apply. A joint operation of DHS / IRS / NSA is constantly watching all cash transfers in and out of banking institutions looking for patterns that suggest possible terror links. It does not have to be a lot of money to grab their interest these days. I am not directly involved with this but I see the "take" from this form of intel gathering and, though it is a useful tool in counter terror, I also see it as a huge future problem with respect to individual liberties. If anything currently foreseeable is going to put the hobby in a bind, I believe this form of intel gathering and information sharing will be it.
the appropriate disclaimers are on the site... fictional etc...
and now a word about those Penthouse forum letters.... ever think that those too could be fodder for prosecution? as some of them describe illegal sex in most states.
As to what would attract attention.... I suspect that TER IS watched by LE - at both federal and state level - but probably for higher crime - kidnapping, underage sex, or some form of harm... which is NOT described within TER... Agree with those who believe that LE has its hands full with too many other things than to scritinize TER...
be precise. Why not advertise it?
Sirius XM stock is trading at 16 cents!!! Since this topic has come up at least 5 times, it's apparent that a lot of TER members also listen to Howard Stern, which means that they subscribe to Sirius.
I'm not overly excited about the ads being on a show that is frequently listened to by my SO, but since I didn't get a vote, I guess I'll have to roll with it.
or else no states at all would've been able to allow paying for it. Two states do, I understand: NV and RI. Would the Bureau or any of its companions going to spend their resources on cases of "transporting gulls across staid lions for immortal porpoises"? If I take off to Providence for reasons of my own, will the Bureau be interested in my "invisible importation" of paid sex?
I'm sure that LE has found TER long ago... but I hate it hitting mainstream press. Awakening sleeping draggons.

The reason that I like this site that its a very good resource. There are a few self-promoters out there, but this can be flushed out with careful reading.
I live by a rule....no review....no call. Now could LE use this site for a sting? They could set up a profile and fake reviews? I just think that the extra PR turns more eyes to the site. All we need is some "Jesus" freak to launch an initiative to go after this site. Or some young DA trying to make a name.
I really like this site and appreciate the good data. I just want to feel safe and have it for many more years to come .
TER is not exactly under the radar. Although I must admit, it still has a personable feel to it as it has grown.
Ladie screen screen screen and gents do your research everyone do all the right things, check out the person you plan to spend time with and we have not a great deal to worry about. This site is all in the eyes of the law, hearsay for the most part and not admissable in court. Well thats what my lawyer tells me.
