I almost went to Costa Rica last weekend, but went to Bogota instead. Might as well go to the source. lol
BTW I have been to Costa Rica maybe 60-70 times over the last five years or so. Us "gringos" have really fucked the country up, and prices have quadrupled over the last few years, but the hobbying, even with very few Colombiannas, is still a great time, and compared to the US, still a good value for your money.
LOL .... I knew you had a castle in Colombia, knew the Pres, and all that but didn't know you had a summer house in CR as well... lol ... Now Gambler, you got me thinking maybe I should expand my thinking to include Colombia... I'm ready for a break from the ATL and gonna go some damn where... lol
Expatriate Americans make up over 1% of the population in Costa Rica, and speaking Spanish in CR, while helpful is far from necessary. In Colombia and most other countries in South America, you can go weeks without ever seeing another gringo or hearing English being spoken. For that reason I would not suggest Colombia as a first trip to Latin America.
That said, Colombia fucking rocks!!! lol
The most beautiful women in all of Latin and South America seem to come from Colombia in general and Medelling in specific. I generally go to Bogota instead of Medellin because you can fly to Bogota nonstop from Atlanta and I normally only take short trips of three or four days and hate to waste all my time just trying to get there.
FWIW Delta has two nonstops a day to San Jose CR, one to Liberia CR, and one to Bogota Colombia. It's just as easy as going to Vegas, and IMO a hell of a lot more fun.
