I was wondering how you guys felt about using a credit card with a reputable agency for a booking? I'm a newbie... just wondering if/will it get back to me if the agency is busted one day..?
Reputable agency? Hmm, not sure if this isn't an oxymoron. Hey, I'm sure that there are agencies that won't rip you off however there is always the chance they might plus most charge a premium for using a charge card. Also, the provider is involved in the transaction and that is another possible avenue for identify theft. I hadn't thought of getting nailed if the agency is busted but I suppose that could happen.
For all those reasons, I would strongly suggest cash. Especially for those hobbyists that are married or have SO's. Finding credit card evidence is the second biggest way of getting caught behind not covering our tracks on our computers
We chose not to take credit cards because of the opportunities it may present like id theft, paper trail, SO finding the receipt by mistake, seeing the bill, etc. We also did not want to have to charge higher fees to cover the processing cost. Someone once said about our community just keep it simple...well you know the rest.
If you feel, for one reason or another, that credit is the best payment method for you, why not use a pre paid card?
No identity worries, no paper trail, no chance of having your card racked up beyond the amount you put on it. I use one for all of my online purchases.
Here is the story. Cops who bust agencies like to follow a paper trail. They are looking for conspiracy, money laundering and racketeering possibilities. Leave a card # and you are asking for trouble. You don't want to be a witness in a felony do you?
