If I got that email I would have read about three paragraphs and pressed delete.

I haven't gotten it but it could have gone to junk mail as it appears to be spam. I hope no one falls for this nonsense.
This is an example of how people think that because we work under the radar, they can take advantage of us. Sending scary blackmail messages to us and thinking we have to coward to them. Equally true about other devious behavior as well.

I am sorry you received such a threatening email. It is really unnerving to get such awful and mean correspondence. :(

I got the email too. pfff 😤 and I know many ladies I follow on twitter did as well.
It's a scam, that scam it's been around for a bit while. Fortunately because the way I screen... I only meet truly gentlemen that are respectful with my boundaries. Only a looser would film someone with out their consent.

But again, this is a scam.

Sounds like a foreign source who writes in very poor English. Don't reply and move on. Nothing will happen.

I got the same Email as well as a few other ladies I know.... I laughed, hit delete and kept it moving.

I know receiving any type of message like this is scary especially if you have never received one...and you keep your escort life a secret....It's not a joke but this is so poorly planned out....You probably just scanned thru it and saw the main points he made in about having a video and your info freaked out and your brain couldnt compute the obsurdity of this email.

There are so many signs that it is fake.

1st Sign its Fake.....In the Email he says I know all info about you and I know what you did but Im not going to tell you.... that is not how you extort someone .. If he really had that info he would have told you what your name was and what "info" he had on you.

2nd Sign its Fake....You cant reply to this email just send me money to my BitCoin wallet and I will delete video and not release your info...Really? LOL... You cant reply because they know too many people would be like - SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT....And they cant .. lol
I dont hide my job from anyone, everyone knows what I do so I would tell him go ahead!

These people running these scams arent even trying anymore lol.

Any blackmailer worth his salt would give you a sample of the "personal" info he found on you.  15 seconds of video would be enough.  He showed you nothing, so he's got nothing.  Tell him GFY.

being is playing havoc with your sense of security.  Until something like this happens to us, one can never truly know how violated we feel.

Had someone try this with me quite a while back when all the user data from a certain website was compromised.  Even after I deleted the scam email message, received many more and ignored them as well.  Of course options to deal with this problem race through our minds.  I refused to allow someone to manipulate me and thought even if I did decide to cave in to the scammer's initial demands, how could I be sure that would be the end of it?  As I know, you already have as well.

Instead I thought of those who would be affected if in fact it was NOT a scam and how I would approach them if confronted.  It never happened as I am sure it will never happen in your case.

You mentioned potential videos.  Being a very desirable, intelligent lady, of course you have already thought about different alibis.  Those closest to you must know you are a human being with needs and could never be sure whether or not one of those you shared intimacy with, recorded you, even in your "civvie" life.  It is also possible, you are having a problem figuring out who would do this to you so have not yet thought of how to approach LE.

But of course you have thought about all this, many times over.  Please ignore this AH and hang in there.

I wanted to post this on the general board because I know some ladies do not have access. Have any other ladies received this email?
First, I agree with others that sounds like pure BS and a scam. But I have technical question.
.
How do you make a Bitcoin payment? Don't you need the recipient's account number or some other identifier?  You don't just throw $700 into a Bitcoin ATM and hope it gets to the right person. If an email works, how would this "anonymous" (10-minute mail or no-reply mail) email work? It wouldn't!
.
With no email or other way to confirm payment, how would a bitcoin user know who paid them $700? Even if it was a legit entity with two or more clients, how would they know who paid and who didn't?  "I just got a $700 bitcoin transfer from x4y0ib4we-*qlqnlulw0wed9u . Who the fuck is that?" versus "Hello. I just sent you $700 in bitcoin. The transaction number is ### and the confirmation number is ### Did you get it?" "Yes, I did! Thank you! I will mark your account as paid in full."
.
Thank you. I know what bitcoin is but I have never used it.

The lack of actual details makes it a likely scam.   When Ashley Madison got hacked they got my real info and sent those extortion letters every couple days for months.  And they did list a lot of the info they'd gotten.  But I just ignored them.  I figured they were blasting out thousands of these and wouldn't take the time to chase down any given one, just wait for the money to roll in from those more easily scared.

But I do get scam emails all the time regarding editing my Websites
for "free".

Or other randos/weirdos {both Men & Women} sending bizarre bits
and pieces... as long as they don't send "actual" bits and pieces,
I just block them!

Scary though that happened to you, but I'd just block them and forget it! ;)

This is absolutely a scam.
.
In the internet security world it's called Phishing.  The scammer(s) send this to hundreds or even thousands of email addresses - all with exactly the same message. It costs the scammers almost nothing to send these out.  The scammers hope that at least one, or maybe even 4 or 5 recipients will get scared and send the payment. So they could reap a few thousand dollars for no cost. Even if 99.9% of the group deletes the message they still win big.
.
As to how the bitcoin gets to the right person, there is usually a bitcoin account number (untraceable) included in the message. It's a one-way transfer (called a "good funds" transfer in the world of finance) that you cannot reverse, dispute or trace.  How do they know the payment came from the OP?  They don't and they do not care, because there is no video or information to release. It never existed.
.
And that is why this is called Phishing. They throw out a wide net (thousands of emails) and then haul in the catch.
.
Delete it and have a Single-Malt (neat, please) to help you relax.
.
Life is good.

Reminds me of a blackmail letter I got years ago. Said my computer had been hacked and it had a list of websites I visited synced up with my webcam and it would send the video to my contacts if I didn't pay up. I deleted it. So far, none of my contacts have talked to me about my visits to nurumassage.com and other pornographic sites

any response at all only encourages more of this type of thing. Stick with the general consensus here and simply delete the message and go about your day.

Scams like this work because 99% of the world's population have a sub-70 IQ. I have suspected this all along, but the internet finally verified my theory for me. Send that money and all the info they ask for then report back here and let us know how it turned out for you Einstein.
