Purchased a new iPad this weekend and loving it!  As I start to peruse various websites, I realized that in some cases,  I am getting routed to sites that are specific to text versions only - Flash sites are not loading properly.  On some sites, photos do not load correctly- "shorting you on your online presence".

I understand that this is an issue for the iPad, specifically, but started to wonder if the ladies here would reconsider their online marketing presence and design sites that are mobile friendly (including smart phones).  Given the changing technology, the evolution of the web, along with hobbyists born during the tech revolution- having a website that properly represents you, I feel, is an advantage.  Your thoughts?  

BTW, iPad works well with TER and P411 sites....

I fully agree. Even using a full OS (Mac, PC) there is too much Flash, sometimes Java and other fancy webwork that is just not easily accessible under many circumstances. An ad we can't or refuse to view is no ad at all.

Some websites at least give you the option to pick a high bandwidth or low bandwidth option from the Main or Enter page.

As much as I hate Flash, it is a ubiquitous web technology, and (I hate to admit) sometimes used well.

The iPad never has and, maybe never will, allow Flash thanks to the Apple Mafia. This includes the iPhones.

There are other serious issues with the iPad, IMO, which make it unsuitable as a replacement for a laptop (for example, you have to use iTunes for ANY files transfers).

Many, if not most providers, use pre-canned websites which have limited photo widgets. Most, if not all, of which are written in Flash.

IMO, you made a poor choice of mobile device, which will limit your web experience. Like providers, when choosing a mobile device you have to do your research up front.

Sorry, but Flash will be gone before Apple iPad is gone.

This touches on a pet peeve of mine. The shitty provider website that looks like it's from 1995. Use a blog or something. Jesus.

I agree. Am not crazy about flash at all but most people don't realize they are on a flash based website a lot of the time. True restaurant especially like to use flash.

I wonder what will be the competition to the Ipad? It is a cool gadget.
