Reviews aren't important to me. Just a long time member who is in his reclining years, but still loves reading about the hobby.

You already said you don't care about reviews. The only other reason for VIP is for PMs, so if you don't care about PMs either, then don't pay for VIP!
Any basic member can read and post on the boards, so if you only want the boards, cancel your VIP and switch to basic.
As for moderation, why are you moderated? Did you piss admin off? If not, just send them a feedback using "contact us" and ask to be unmoderated.

If you want full access to reviews, or, you want to backchannel via PM....VIP makes sense. If you're not interested in either of those things, why?

...because you'd like that instant gratification of seeing your post on the board immediately.  If you enjoy it, a buck a day isn't a lot to spend on any hobby.  And there are ways to get free VIP without writing reviews.

The way that you can be unmoderated more consistently is to write and convey your message in a manner that will be less offensive but equally effective in its meaning. Although it would be less blatant, for you it certainly wouldn't be as fun because the fire and brimstone that you would have would not sting who you would be communicating to as much if you changed your style and delivery. Henceforth the conundrum would be to describe it in a way that would be more tasteful and refined or stay with the demeanor that has made you a favorite on the boards. The question is do you want to modify yourself this way and make yourself slightly unrecognizable in your delivery and communication.
