TER General Board

The main point of using an alias is that it hides your TER identity.  There is no rule stating that a guy has to use a guy alias or a provider use a provider alias.

When an alias starts a thread, and it doesn't make sense, maybe that person intended to misdirect you.  While it doesn't break a rule to do that, I personally think it's a shitty thing to do, moreso when it appears to be something that person does frequently.

Just sayin.

Yes, and using an alias to promote bullshit is bad form too. If you really don't agree with someone, just say it. Most of us don't get pissed off and even when they do, it's on them. It's not like your real identity is tied up in this site, or is it?

Especially the person who went so far as to create a fake provider and review "her" as well, chiming into a discussion this past week.

That person has now done this more than once and should be banned plain and simple.

Hell, I think my alias count is over 100 by now, but I do appreciate the fact that you say what you think.  Honestly, it takes guts and I think the board would be different if more people had that opinion.

Still, they are allowed, and I don't discourage their use.  It just bugs me when people purposely use them for misdirection.

I'd love to work on that, but have to confess that I have no idea who you're referring to.

Feel free to PM me with the details.

True.  Many of us are guilty of mischief now and then and some of the aliases are really funny and the remarks the same. I've learned to ignore the hate-filled, profanity-laced garbage by people who just want a rise out of you. Its cowardice when you flame and hide.

Say it isn't so.lmao

I really think it is the epitome of cowardice when people "flame and hide", when it's only an internet board to begin with.

part of the exchange.  For providers, they don't want to have what they want to say impact their business.  For hobbyists, they don't want their prospective fuckees to screen them out just because of what they have to say on the boards.

Also, some of these people take things waaayyyy too seriously.  I've dealt with members who are stalked (on and off the boards), have had their ATF's stalked (on and off the boards), and are pretty much hounded by providers or hobbyists just because of a simple post on a board.

It's not an easy situation, nor is it just cowardice.  The alias allows the opinion without the drama.

The check on that is that an alias post has so much less credibility, that the member is picking between having the opinion diminished by the alias post, or strengthening the opinion by using the handle.

I follow your line of thinking and I only disagree with the fact that any hobbyist trading favors via the boards by making their handles known is a real quandary for me. How do I know the shill is honest, the opinion real, or just a means to gain favor with someone for future services? I've had ladies e-mail and/or text me to shill for them,  by asking me to say "nice" things about them when they post, but I won't do that, and I've explained why it messes with the integrity of the site.

What GaGambler and I (if I can speak for him) are describing  are the people that start flames and have bad intentions with their posts (that's cowardice). If a provider or hobbyist want to bring something sensitive to the board or don't want people to know their identities for the reasons you mention, then that's valid and likely the spirit of why the alias was allowed for premium members.  If hobbyists say stupid shit that gets them banned from a provider's boudoir, that's on them.

is as cowardly as you can get.

I agree with other reasons for alias use, especially by providers who fear a loss of business for stating an unpopular opinion on an internet board.

I have had my share of "fans" who have hounded me for my opinions here, as far as I am concerned they can all go fuck themselves, but I get your point.

One of my biggest gripes is when I agree with an alias poster on a controversial subject and then I am the one beseiged by idiot PM'ers, while the OP gets off scot free because he/she was hiding behind an alias.

just saying the sky is blue can be "picking a fight."  A flame is a flame, but sometimes a spark is taken as a conflagration. LOL

Some people don't want to take the chance.  Some people ARE cowards.  Distinguishing between the two is easier when you are a mod and can see who it is.  A lot of times, the original intent (not to flame) is lost when the fight ensues, so painting with a broad brush is not necessarily always the best thing.

may be seen as "picking a fight."  see my reply to GAGambler on that.

Over the years I have made many friends here, but I have also created a "fan club" of cowards who choose to take pot shots at me from behind the safety of an alias. I have much less respect for them (actually zero respect) than I do with the other posters who might attack me, and my opinions in the light of day.

I make a lot disparaging remarks towards the "manginas" here, but truth be told, the manginas as a group are more likely to voice their disagreements with me without hiding behind an alias than are some of the others here.

So it seems that so far the biggest detractors of using an alias, despite the intelligent points brought up to them which they blindly and ignorantly ignore, are:
Two guys who USE the system and DON'T give back, have no reviews, and just can't help but post over and over and over.
And....
Some "one" hiding behind an agency profile.

Yep. You don't have to follow the stink far to find the assholes around here,,,and they do raise quite the stink with all their bellyaching.

Get over it boys. Then get over yourselves.

BTW, Reverend who gives a big rats ass about spelling and grammar that much on a discussion form involving what we discuss here.

It seems that my one misspelled word got to you enough to make one bitch slap post above all other important topics here.

Again, with all reverence provided, go piss up a tree with you’re (lmao) English lessons.

Hope you do not hit me with my acronym too.

I do know how to spell Mangina, errr is that wrong. Darn, no such word maybe.

What you call "flaming", other people might just call needling.

Some of us use an alias when we don't have to, just to get people like you and a few others all worked up and tossing around your 'angry words'.

especially to a provider. When you do you are screwed.  Restricts you from writing objective reviews and if you do and legendary provider (in their own minds) doesn't like your ratings, you will be contacted, attacked by the said provider and white knight followers.

I am always willing to give reasonable screening information and my TER handle and my home phone number, work number and filling out web forms does not fall under reasonable information. Provider references, P411, date check, etc are reasonable.

It is for the pure pleasure of torturing the poor Needle Dick Gnat Fucking "handle nazi's" to the point of tears!  They pay no attention to anything you say in the first place!  The "alias"  they see totally renders them unable to comprehend anything written.  So they hiss, and spit in anger, while telling the alias what a chickenshit and a coward he/she is.
It's actually very entertaining!

I am sure you (GAG - LOL, I love it) as do others consider the possible ramifications to your inbox before you post. Is it worth that much spam to say my piece (when it might not really be that important). We make our choices and move on.

No whining after the choice is made.

I only (rarely) use an alias when I need to protect myself - my identity. Sometimes we like to play with fire, which is OK, but you (I) have to understand the nature of the thing we are playing with (i.e. manginas versus mangina-haters).
