Had some time on my hand last night so I caught an episode of the tv show COPs. The show had a number of incidents from cities where cops were out gathering up street walkers. In all cases but one, drugs appeared to be the reason why the ladies were working.
Most hobbyists that come to this site more than likely avoid the street scene. But the show caused me to wonder about how prevalent drugs are in our environment. Do we sometime meet ladies that have drug habits and are supporting those habits by working? I have had only two to three instances where a lady was on someting when she showed up or called, in each case I chose not to see her. I am interested in reading the experiences or insight of others that have encountered or thought about this problem.

Years ago, I arranged an outcall session with a provider I had met while going to an incall location for a session with another provider.  The provided I was meeting outcall seemed intelligent and nice when I briefly met her at the incall location....

When she showed up at my house, the provider was spaced out, incoherent and glassy-eyed.  One look at her said, "meth."  The next word out of my mouth was, 'goodbye.'  Gave her $25 for a cab and told her to leave.  She did not protest.....

Drugs + Sex = STD.  In my opinion.  MA

My guess would be that a very high number of providers have some kind of a habit that they are supporting. I even had one Agency girl kind of give me hell after the session for seeing her because she said I was enabling her to continue her habit and I was actually taking advantage of her! I asked her if she thought the agency owner was taking advantage of her and she said yes! Kind of makes me wonder, is it the provider that has a problem or is it us, the hobbyist???

the escort industry is one of the most drug free workplaces I have ever encountered.  Most of the people I see I have known well for many years, and if they were using drugs, I think is would be apparent.
I wish the industry I work in (construction) were as drug free.  It is not unusual, when a client insists on drug screening, to see failure rates as high as 1 in 4.

I'll start by saying that I have no experience with any hard drugs.

This is what I think:  conventional wisdom says that most women who choose to work this job have an expensive habit to support.  What habits are expensive enough to cause you to be willing to spend intimate time with total strangers, some of whom are smelly, hairy, ugly, fat, rude, perverted, and/or arrogant?  Drugs, gambling, and sex.  Of these three, women seem to be less prone to addiction to the latter two predominantly male vices.

So that leaves drugs.

Sometimes, when a person is very obviously baked, you can tell for sure.  But I think most providers employed by those in this forum have enough sense and self-control to hide their (potential) drug use.  My understanding is that meth makes you hyper-confident and hyper-sexual.  Doesn't that sound good?  Heck that makes me want to try it!

I always suspect that they are on meth.

Talking to my one friend outside this forum who also participates voraciously in this hobby, he thinks like I do.  Perhaps even more so.  But he is completely drug-naive (doesn't drink alcohol, never tried pot), so you experienced guys might say that you would just ignore his opinion as uninformed.  Perhaps I might be under-informed as well, and you could ignore my opinion too.

The real question is, should we avoid the provider on drugs?  Two reasons have been implied so far in this discussion:  one altruistic (don't enable the addiction), and the other self-preserving (don't risk STDs).  Whether they are legitimate, someone else can debate.  Let's assume for now that they are legitimate reasons to avoid the provider you KNOW is on drugs (however you know it).

My question is, do you avoid the provider you SUSPECT is on drugs?  I know you logical and statistical minds out there have a systematic way to evaluate uncertainty.  My solution is to use my gut to judge a girl.  And quite frankly, my gut usually says, she'll do, let's go, what are you waiting for?!  But since I suspect them all, what else can I do?  Is it morally wrong to POSSIBLY enable someone's SUSPECTED addiction?

You could say I'm sticking my head in the sand.  But I say that if you only avoid the ones that you're SURE are on drugs, then YOU are sticking your head in the sand!

I am not what you would consider a "full-time" hobbyist, but throughout my "career" I would estimate that I have seen around 20 providers. On one occassion I had a middle aged women (35-40 y.o. est) sent over by an agency. She was a bit flaky on the phone, but hell, some people are naturally that way. When she got there, undressed, I saw scarred over track marks on her arms and it looked as if she had started sticking the needles in her thighs. (I paid the fee and sat at least three feet away from the whole time.) Another girl, sent from yet another agency, I believe was high on pot becuase her eyes were glassy and I think I smelt it.

Lesson learned: Stay away from agency girls. I have never had any reason to believe that an independent provider that I have seen was high or using an illegal drug. Never had a totally off experience with one for that matter. Some are better than others, but never any nightmares dealing with a user.

While you may deal with indies and other ladies who have built great reputations, you'll find some surprises if you peel back the onion a layer or two. There are a great number of ladies who have been cleaned up just enough to rent nice motel rooms and conduct business. All drug use is not as apparent and you'll find that use is higher than you think... Remember, when someone is hellbent on showing you the "brighter" side of something, that's what you'll see. Most drugs outside of alcohol will not have obvious effects.

Wen I first started escorting I had one booking with a guy who was taking coke during our time together.  Never again.

This one man became slightly agressive when I got ready to leave even though I'd stayed way over time.

Since then I have politely declined bookings when the client tells me he wants to 'party' and thankfully I've not been in a dangerous situation since.

Drugs destroy your looks so I don't think heavy drug use is very common amongst higher class ladies.  I know of only one escort who is a cocaine addict but is still hugely successful and well reviewed.

I heard that some high rollers try to get providers to use drugs during the sessions. Providers should terminate the session immediatly. This type of stuff causes providers to get addicted and it results in bad service for other clients. ALso this type of stuff causes a rumor mill, even if the provider has gone off drugs. I will not to book anymore if I find the provider is using drugs.

from a pair of providers before a duo session. Big mistake, it wasn't the buzz that bothered me, it was the cotton mouth. Imagine, in bed with two hotties and all you can think of is a cool drink of water.

Most drugs tends to numb the senses, why bother.

and I had to party with this guy who had friends over and their dates. I didn't like the scene. They were doing drugs and I felt very out of place and uncomfortable with his attitude. The drugs itself weren't the horrible part, but I was afraid of LE coming in to bust me with them. I was paranoid all night. He was horrific in bed, didn't want to pay in the end, and it generally was a bad experience. Thank goodness I'm an indy now and can decide who I want to see for a date.

I was with one who I thought was high on pot.  (Smelled it.)  There's another I know who freely admits to using it and to using hallucinagens.

I don't like to mix trysts with drugs.  Though I think drugs should be decriminalized and/or legalized (most of them) the hobby is my disobedience issue of choice.  I don't want to compound one "crime" with another.

Also, drugs will increase misjudgments that could make things truly dangerous.  Finally, there's a considerably higher chance of disease with some drugs.

Yikes! I can't imagine trying to be a good provider if you were high. To me, it's the kind of situation where you really do want to have your wits about you at all times! I don't even drink with clients...I'll sip at a gin and tonic if somebody really wants me to join them in having a drink first, but other than that, no way. Besides, most alcohol will give me a migraine.

Sometimes I like a glass of red wine. It tastes good and it's relaxing, especially before giving a lengthy massage. My hands are more relaxed and I tend to take more time with pressure points. I don't think all drugs are bad and for some -- unfortunately -- are a necessity. However, I prefer alternative medicine. There's nothing wrong with an occasional drink, just like chocolate. We all have to fill that need for elysium at times, whether it's vegetables or meat. I think the problem is overindulgence and not being able to say "no." Health is also a major factor. For me, I could go without a drink for years if nothing's offered to me, but then I could also have a couple glasses of wine in one night. Go figure! There are many things that are bad for us, yet we continue to indulge -- the hobby being one of those things. Some people eat too much cheese and they're lactose intolerant. Why? Because they just have to have it sometimes to nourish that craving. I think you should choice your battles, plan them wisely and do everything in moderation. If you have the strength and commitment, avoid anything that's bad for you. However, that would include breathing, since there are so many toxins surrounding us. I used to be a marathon runner, non-alcohol drinker, didn't consume caffeine and did not smoke. Then I lived in Greece and decided to test my theory: I drank a Pepsi and smoked a cigarette each morning and drank at least three tequilas a night. Did I feel any worse? No, but I probably aged a few years while feeling wonderfully sinful and having a great time. Now, I'm still fairly health conscious, but I also enjoy life. Hey!  Why do Italians have so much fun?

Ciara

My understanding is that meth makes you hyper-confident and hyper-sexual.  Doesn't that sound good?  It would seem that every provider would boost their TER performance rating if they were on meth!

Everyone seems to agree that we avoid people who are actively doing drugs or obviously high.  I think stilltryin25's original question is, do you avoid the provider you suspect might be on drugs when not working?  Is it morally wrong to POSSIBLY enable someone's SUSPECTED addiction?

My personal feeling is that I have no choice but to accept a person at face value when they present themselves as clean.  I may have suspicions or stereotypes, but I keep them quiet.  I usually trust my gut instinct, but always keep my eyes and ears open.  But I have to admit I sometimes feel like I'm sticking my head in the sand.

I hope I am making it clear that I SUSPECT everyone, yet I BELIEVE, as you do, that most are NOT users.

Not to put too fine a point on it --  I'm trying to choose my words very precisely here.

Maybe some numbers would convey the point more clearly.  Would you guess, that with any given provider, that there is a 10% chance she is supporting a habit?  Or 1%?  Or 50%?  Of course there is no way to know for sure.  What I'm saying is that it's never 0%, and that makes them all SUSPECTS.  More importantly, the number in this subpopulation is higher than in the population as a whole (even the subpopulation that works in a nursing home).

Yes, I know a little about working in a nursing home.  Personally I would rather scoop a stranger's feces than have sex with a rude, fat, ugly, smelly old woman.  (Geesh I hope the providers I've been with haven't made that comparison when they were with me!)I hope I am making it clear that I SUSPECT everyone, yet I BELIEVE, as you do, that most are NOT users.

Women have been supporting themselves and their loved ones in the oldest profession since Old Testament times.  I hope my dispassionate essay on this topic in no way impugns your dignity.  You're the best!  I'm sure my own mother would have supported me this way if she had to.

I really don't think she uses before or at sessions, but I'm certain she does otherwise because she reports it rather explicitly in her blog.

For the first example, not only was there the odor at the first session, but she was very different at the first session than at the following one.  I'd say she was far more at ease at the first one.

It may have softened the tension for the first meeting.  I've got to think those are never easy for a lady.

I was answering a question about perceived drug use.  I don't consider pot to be anything, and as I said, I think most everything should be legalized and/or decriminalized.  I consider smoking anything to be a very bad delivery system for any drug, however.

And, hell, I've had my own history of use.  When I was moving, I gave myself about five different injuries, back, hamstring, tennis elbow (ouch).  I scored some codeine from a friend and took it with high amounts of naproxin just to complete the move.  Same as when I had the flu.

Coming off the codeine afterward was a bitch.

I used mostly prescription meds, but sometimes I would use more than the prescribed dosage.  For a while, when I was trying to increase my work speed, I was taking ephedra.  Gave myself some heart palpitations with that.

I've also done some binge drinking, about once or twice a year.  However, now I'm on medicines that make alcohol consumption very dangerous.

I haven't seen much drug use in the hobby.  However, I only get to see a lady for a 12 hours a year at the most.  That's not much of a sample, and it's easily biased.

Thank you for your contribution. It seems as though some of my fellow members believe that they have a corner on every possible senerio as to why someone  would work in this industry. First men and women do drugs. Can all of us honestly say that what we do is not akin to a drug? Do we not get the rush of either the power or the excitement of seeing that beauty open up for us even if it is for a short period of time?

We all come to this for our own reasons we are not all fat or bald or whatever else described and the providers are not all hopped up addicts.

Personal choice is what this is all about. If you have an issue with a provider who may be high then offer cab fare and send her home. But keep in mind as you are there with your 2 hour beauty queen ..she may just be waiting for you to finish so she can go back to her real life of kids, husbands or yes drugs. Fellas we are not her REAL life. Just like after the time is up she is not part of ours.

After reading the responses here I think it is up to your judgement.  Drugs and each individual will vary.  If someone gets too deep into drugs as opposed to occaisional if not frequent use, they still may be very careful and clean.  It is when they start to get sloppy that you need to worry IMHO.

The few ladies i am close with in this business don't do illegal drugs, although some do smoke cigarettes which i consider a drug. I drink alcohol on occasion, but that's the extent of it for me.
HOWEVER,
I have had MANY MANY clients show up smelling like marijuana and had MANY MANY clients ask me if I want to smoke with them.
I don't.
There was one REGULAR client I had to stop seeing because his hands always smelled like weed and even after washing them they still smelled that way. I warned him not to smoke cigarettes or pot before seeing me anymore but he continued so i stopped seeing him.
I had a client in NYC show up and pull out a pipe to free base.
I had several clients snort white stuff while with me.
Nowadays I make it very clear on my website that i do not do drugs or smoke ciggarettes or allow it around me.
