Now that I am being "forced" to adapt to the new site, I am sure I will eventually get used to it, but I still don't like it.

The discussion boards are now VERY difficult to maneuver and finding and following threads is now much more difficult, in short "Beta Sucks Balls"

There is a link that takes you back to the classic version. The problem is, you can only read the boards. Every time I tried to reply, I got an error, so I was forced to sign onto the new version to post this reply.  If we want to do more than lurk we're forced to use the new version.

Yup yup. Much harder to read and follow threads and see what's going on and who said what to whom and when.

But I do like the reviews area in "beta" both writing and reading, oh and also searching. And they've made it much more convenient to add notes for yourself on a provider profile. Anyways, yes, the new boards suck IMO.

Too bad classic is read only.

At first I thought my smartphone was hacked.    TER  DOES NOT WORK WELL ON MY CELL PHONE AND ITS VERY VERY HARD TO MANUVER AND GET THE INFO I WANT QUICKLY.      STILL AT A LOSS,  ON THE ONCE SIMPLY STUFF.

Most IMPORTANT:   The old TER  sort of looked like  Craigslist,  so if someone came up on me on my laptop or phone it was easily  to flip to a Craigslist Page.    Unless you looked closely   they were almost the same in appearance, color and layout.

BUMMER on the change.   I'll use it less or not at all on my phone and have to be more private to use it on my laptop in public setting.

... In addition to bringing up the new site upon login, I see that all my "read" posts are no longer orange on the classic site. Also I couldn't post any more on the classic site using my tablet as apparently the old site no longer supports Safari on iOS 9.3.5 (which is all my old iPad supports).  It worked earlier this morning, and it works with the new site.  I guess this is TER's subtle way of telling me that...

I am not a fan of change either, and the jury is out on this version.  Importantly, for those of you who are old enough, remember the days of DOS, Word Perfect, Lotus 123, and Harvard Graphics?  At the time these P.C. elements were the standard and when folks were forced to switched to Windows I remember kicking, screaming, gnashing of teeth.  Guess what, Windows provided a superior platform we have all adopted as the norm.

When I switched from a P.C. to an IMAC 8 years ago, I was not sure I made the right choice.  Today I would never own a P.C. myself.....Apple all the way.

Hang in there.....we all should give it time.

Well, maybe they were trouble shooting it this morning and have it fixed. Or maybe NGBE is correct and it won't work with iOS.

Let's find out. Here we go....

Funny that you mentioned Mac. I have my first ever apple product now. At this point I expect it to be my last.

At any rate, I don't love change either, but I'm perfectly capable of adapting okay if I have a reason. I.E. Something improving. For instance, I like the new version for reviews and searching and the photo board. The rest of the discussion boards, however, this is not an improvement. It's difficult to navigate and follow threads and there's wasted screen everywhere. I've already found many many instances of "getting from here to there" that I could do with one click in classic that now requires at least two.

Also, has anybody found a way to PM an alias from the boards in the new version?

I couldn't post from iOS earlier today either and now I can so you might try again. I'm not on 9.3.5 though. As far as the posts changing, maybe tinker with your cookies? Or they may have fixed that also?

Switch to tree mode, the names are in black and MUCH easier to skim if looking for a particular name.

Actually, EVERYTHING is easier to read and find in tree mode. The flat is just impossible to follow for me. Not good for anything but the photo board IMO.

but that's not the point.

Classic TER was fine.  I'm talking from about five years ago.  The recently departed TER (Still on life support, it seems.) was OK.  This new one will seem OK when then come out with the next version.

So let it be written, and all that jazz.

I switched to the old. I am now posting in the old version. I agree the really old one from a few years ago was the best.

If I am forced to use the New Ter, my posting will be almost non existent. I typically scroll down half the first page to see what's going on. I may never click on a thread as I can get a general idea of topic and unless i find something that may be funny, I will skip.

I also do this when checking back to see if anything new was added but I only care to see which post the reply was done to. I need to know which post the reply was to. I am not going to waste time re-reading the whole thread or open a reply that was not in answer to certain posts.

Example: Gambler said something funny in a post. Maybe that is the only thing I care to go read after the fact, any goofy replies to it. Under the old TER I can see if anyone responded to him and see the post subject to know if I want to click on it. Takes very little time to do this.

I can not do this with the new TER. Now I would need to spend too much time on things I may not care to read.

I don't have a ton of time. I can post all day on here, on and off, and spend maybe a whole ten mins on it throughout the day. New TER would require a lot of time to do the same thing.

So if we are forced to only do the New TER, it is very likely you will not see me reading or posting often. I don't have the time and the limited interaction vs Twitter.... hm, let me think hard on that.

I don't mind how it looks and I don't hate all the new features.  What I do hate is how the message boards are organized.  I'll run them both side by side for a while and see.  I will say the way the opening list for each board works is kind of cool.  It lists threads in order of how long ago was the last post on that thread, so you can see what new posts have come up.

Most of the changes seem to be cosmetic and quite annoying changes. A few changes are significant but didn't require the cosmetology work-over.

They've changed the threading in the forums and the Profiles (review forms and searches) are much different. Many are improvements but why not incorporate so many other good suggestions from S&P while making the current changes to make them even better?

DOS to Windows and Abacus to Slide Rule to Electronic Calculator were tremendous changes. I think we've mostly gone from plaid to paisley (or paisley to plaid, depending on your preference).

I like the beta version, as I said I've been using exclusively for sometime now. The tree mode for discussion boards opens everything. Replies to posters not the OP move to the right of the board like to "old" version. There are gray lines down the left that help keep things lined up. The bullets do need to be different shapes like the "old" version. That would really help.

It feels like it was designed in this decade, so that's an improvement.

Also the threaded boards are much nicer than previously. Very reddit-esque. It takes awhile to get comfortable with, but functionally it's much better.

The default font size is likely a little small for the average TER-er, but a quick "CTRL+" will fix that right up.

DOS to Windows was a paradigm shift in how the system is used, this seems to be an aesthetic update to make it more slick and "modern".  It isn't a matter of giving it time to get used to it, I find it hard to read. Bad font choice and terrible use of screen real estate. I really wonder whether their developers are trying different platforms when they test their own work. It might not be as bad if I was using a desktop with a large screen, like I'm sure their developers are, but I exclusively use either an Android tablet or phone and find it difficult to see. I haven't tried it yet on my phone, but we have comments in this thread that it's not phone friendly.

Win8 had some good things under the covers (and some bad), but the good was overshadowed by this goofy idea that everyone was using touch screens and wanted a simplistic interface that was completely focused on the smartphone. I think one of the key problems with this update is similar in that they aren't thinking about their universe of users, looks beautiful  on a 27 inch display, sucks on a tablet and is unusable on a smartphone.  I could be wrong.

...when I'm not on my laptop. It's about 4 years old. The font looks the same to me as the "old" version.

I don't have a smart phone so can't tell about how it looks on one but I wonder if individual settings on the phone is causing the difference in font some are mentioning. The font looks a little larger to me but same style.

I will try to adapt.  Had difficulty posting 2 reviews in Beta, albeit MP Girls. Posted in Classic.  One thing I do like about Beta is you do not have to open each individual reply to each thread. This expediates reading time.
