Seems like an odd way to verify. Probably a scam, but also possible the girl just wanted to see you.
I know a provider who tried to be as lenient as possible to newbie hobbyists. If they aren't members of P411, Date-Check, etc. and aren't active here or other popular spots, she will accept a link to your Facebook or LinkedIn profile so that she can see who you are.
recently i browsed two ads asking me to join a webcam session to be verified, I passed on both, never heard of that before and was wondering if this is a scam of some sort
That's a well known scam over the wider internet, I'm guessing it's the same here. Likely, they're trying to get you to sign up to a scam website so they can get paid, and the website can get your credit card info.
If they're not asking you to sign up on a random website, but to use something like Skype that's free, I'm not sure, and other members would have better input on this.
Could be a vice squad setup and the webcam was for more proof and evidence against you. Will be difficult for you to deny that it was you if they have video/picture proof of you.
If it wasn't a setup, how does seeing you on webcam equate to you being safe? For all they know, they could very well be seeing their killer/rapist/etc ahead of time.
tks for the info! im somewhat of a newbie, so i wasnt sure, but on both occaisions they said LE isnt allowed to pay for a webcam show thats proof im not LE idk, it just sounded off, so i politely passed

You can't review someone unless you've met them. I don't read that you did that.
BTW. Everyone's being VERY nice to you. This would have been better asked on the Newbie board.

otherwise, your next newb question, will probably not go over as well.
