Guess it depends a lot on the duration of the professional relationship. I don't find much fun in reminiscing about past encounters. Thinking, discussing nor writing about them in a journal of sorts like you mentioned. I'm kind of a what's going on today and tomorrow type of person! I remember General things of course though. Very general.
Personally, I think it's fine if that's how you're programmed. Fine of course, if it's kept in perspective you know! Doesn't become too held onto.I think it's fun to reminisce on past experiences, and really hold onto them via the written word.
Does anyone journal or compose narratives of their rendezvous? Outside of TER reviews, I mean...
(fictional works for personal entertainment/amusement, of course)
Or do you all think it's just a waste of time and you should enjoy what you have when you've got it?
The anticipation of an upcoming playdate can be exhilarating, nerve wracking, and quite distracting (I find that I get little work done a day or 2 before a session!). Of course during the session it can become overwhelming and I always try to live in the moment, knowing just how quickly that moment will be gone. And then the aftermath is both satisfying and poignant....remembering all of the little things and lamenting about it now being in the past. I presently don't keep a journal - too dangerous to have it be discovered by the wrong person!
"And then the aftermath is both satisfying and poignant....remembering all of the little things and lamenting about it now being in the past."
I completely understand; it is precisely those little things that I want to hold on to.
I have quite the active imagination, but a poor memory, so I find transcribing my thoughts and feelings may help to make it more lasting.
he anticipation, the meeting, and the memory are all a part of the total experience.
I don't keep a journal however, just too lazy I guess, but her concerns about someone seeing it who should not see it are valid

During playtime, it's living in the moment...no need to think so much when engaged sexually, just go with the flow, and enjoy. Anything happening outside of the bed can be dealt with later.
Before and afterward, if I'm with a beloved ATF, we sometimes reminisce if the flow of conversation heads in that direction. Just as often we share details about what's going on in our lives, to the extent that we both feel comfortable, and may discuss upcoming events, activities, and plans that are relevant to us. My personal experiences with the hobby may be unusual in that I am able to bond with many of the ladies I see to some extent, which makes this game a better experience for me than most other players. At least that's how I see it, based on what I hear and perceive. But, who knows, I could be totally wrong.
I have never kept a written journal...that stays in my head. If I feel the need to write, I can do so prolifically here on the boards, since I apparently have a good memory, and being an accountant, an eye towards detail. I seldom review, as I usually prefer to keep these things private.
BTW, are you a provider or hobbyist?
As a freshly-minted hobbyist, I am on the brink of deciding whether this is, in fact, a game worth playing.
After all, in the words of the movie WarGames, "the only way to win is not to play."
You can't win if don't play.
I might think about a lady and wonder how she is doing but when that happens I am not thinking about the session. Of course, there are a few special encounters that I do think about, I would be totally lying if I did not fess up to that. I am sure that as I get olde, I will probably start looking back a bit more, at least that is my guess.
When the experience is crap, you remember and when the experience so, so, you forget.
It is that simple

just don't post your experiences to FaceBook ... I wouldn't recommend writing down your experiences anywhere outside of TER. It just goes against my motto, "Admit to Nothing, Deny Everything, Demand Proof. "

...after all, I'm using my "imagination"!
With some ladies, it's all about the moment. With some ladies, it's all about the memories. Isn't it funny, but you can generally tell which type it's going to be the first minute of the first session. I love the memory ladies. But the moment ladies are important too, when the memory ladies are unavailable. And yes, I have some mementos that I keep from the memory ladies. And, from time to time, I do think about the great connections, and/or, individual sessions of the past.
If the moment takes me away won't it automatically leave a lasting impression with lasting memories??
when I started hobbying a year ago, I was all about the moment. Then once, I wrote a review a few days later. I got so hot writing the review, that I called reached out that day and repeated later in the same afternoon.
After that session, I told that same provider about what happened. her advice: "keep writing". LOL.
Now, I enjoy the sessions and the writing after the fact as well.
I'd be happy to discuss publishing your work, if you want to collect it into a book.
... holding onto these memories is like holding onto a ghost. It was fun, but it's over. On to the next ride at the amusement park as it usually makes me forget the last one.

...because honestly, I won't remember EVERY detail that I liked about a visit months later - so they help me recall and relive much better.
once a week, and I do include mention of my dates. I usually don't go into a lot of detail unless they are especially memorable.
