My sister has green eyes that appear to change from green to blue, depending on her mood--green when she's mischeivous or angry.  We've always said that when her eyes are green to watch out, because she's up to something or about to blow.  But, I figured out how it happens.  Her irises are rimmed with blue, and as her pupils constrict, more green is visible.  If I remember correctly, when we are relaxed, our pupils tend to dilate, making them bigger; when we are tense, they tend to constrict.  So, I think that's what accounts for her "mood eyes."

A client/friend of mine has a 'green eyed' theory. He feels, based on his experience that there are more green eyed Providers out there than any other.

I have green eyes, (although often mistaken for blue) and so do so many others.

So, just for giggles, and to see how his theory plays out, what color are YOUR eyes?

red head but they often shade to a striking aqua blue

Except Sedona.  Well, and Ginger of San Diego whose eyes change color every 30-seconds or so.

1st ex-wife (not that I'm one of those neurotic people who counts...) had green eyes and I now steer clear.  Green eyes, red hair, nice butt - no more for me.

Your friend may be onto something!

Green eyed redheads should rule the world!
ps - Now that I think if it maybe they do - at least my world!

Hi Sedona,

Mine are blue. Sometimes, depending on what I'm wearing, they're an ocean blue, sometimes almost black.

Hugs,

Ciara

Hey Megan,

Brown is the most common eye color.  Blue is second.  Green is the least common.  Hazel, green, and gray are "mixtures" between blue and brown.  Hazel and gray eyes appear to "change" d/t light reflections in the environment (clothes, makeup, color of light, etc.).  People with lighter/fair complexions are more likely to have colors other than brown.

I have hazel-green.  Above posts are interesting.  I wonder if these hazel/green eyes are more common in people who participate in the hobby????

Now you have me wondering why.  Is the breakdown the same for men and women?  Nationality?  Do you know how many genes are involved in eye color (I thought there were only a few)?

I'm Spanish and I have green eyes, black hair and olive skin. Most of my family has either green or blues eyes and fair skin. (even the men in my family)

Actually 3 pairs of genes on two chromosomes determine eye color.  Here's a reference.

Sounds like eye color is more complex than I thought.

I have weird eyes. They change from blue to green to grey depending on my mood, my outfit, my makeup, or just because they feel like it, lol. I never really know what color my eyes are unless I am looking in the mirror at that given moment.

Wow!  What a pretty pair you two must be. Grey and hazel -- outstanding!
