does not engage in scams, upsells, misrepresentations, or other questionable business practices is "reputable", but that alone does not make her "preferable." That's where reviews and appearance kick in, but a provider must be "reputable" to even be considered by most mongers, IMO. "Reputable" is a minimum qualification for my business.
By definition, reputable implies a reputation. So I would think plenty of reviews, and good ones, is a start.
As we've spoken about this before, if you're question is mostly driven by whether you can trust a particular provider on a client reference...I always thought that providers who've been in the business a fair while tend to look out for each other. Kind of a pay it forward if you will. At least the ones I've seen would agree. They would tell a provider if a particular client was respectful, gentlemanly, etc. So we'll reviewed, professional ad site or website, and some fairly obvious clues that they understand the business and also require references or some other screening.
Assuming people you don’t know will look out for you is difficult in this field of work that is not for the weak, so many factors to play. Considering all the facts you have made me realize a great deal. This is why I hosted many provider meet & greets in my city long ago because I wanted the ladies to know personally & trust the person they’re getting a reference from it’s important. I used to attend happy hours, lunch socials & M&G’s to know this adult community.
I respect & appreciate your candor on this board, like I told you… I have never required references, but I do understand the logic regarding anonymity. I have personally, vouched for many members & providers in the past. I may need to change the way I operate this is why I love the TER community. There’s a trend among some providers to no longer accept references and switch over to real world info screening only. Apparently they feel that too many references are not reliable.

I don't think of it so much as necessarily looking out for you like a mother looks out for their child. Rather they empathize with the situation you are in; needing to trust a client is safe and not rude or rough. And I agree not every provider can be trusted but I think the ones that meet the criteria I mentioned should be likely a safe bet.
Again, all based on my observations and discussions with providers who have been in the business a while. And many have said they have had no bad experiences with somebody on p411 and at least two okays.

You're not the only one who doesn't know how Miss TER works behind the scenes. But it is TER Admin, not us lowly bored Board posters, who pick Miss TER.
Your own profile is a good example of what I would consider "not reputable". $1500 for two hours with someone pushing 50?! I would not pay more than 250/hr for that age. You have a nice body, but still the rate is way out of line compared to what you can get out there.

The very definition of reputable - well thought of or well respected by others! Show me a provider with 20+ good reviews which are not shams or trades, and I’ll admit she is reputable! Opinions may vary, and her reputation may be based on different skills, but she is reputable!
In today's day and age a few reviews on review sites but a big online presence is almost as good as to me of reviews but no online presence imo.
Online presence can be a combo of social media (that you can see how long the provider has been on it and if provider has tendencies to out people), website history, etc. Same if a phone number has been around associated with the same provider, etc. So, a reputable provider has good online history/presence and has at least a few trusted reviews on review boards.
Im gonna make an amendment here. A lot of social media accounts can be bought with followers en masse. So historical presence is a lot more important than current volume presence.
Ie if I see a provider who has 300k followers on Twitter but her history only goes back a month or two ago, that's not good enough even tho 300k seems like it's legit. Versus a provider who has 1k followers but has had online presence for a few years.
