TBH, never been on only fans and really don’t have an interest in it. Nothing beats an in person experience for me. Porn/OnlyFans only dull the desire for human contact and my hand doesn’t feel nearly as good as a woman’s warm, wet pussy. Never will.
I think there is a potential argument that it could actually help the industry. Only fans could be the equivalent of a gateway drug for the novice to get into full escort. It’s more personalized than porn and if you have the opportunity to meet your favorite stars, why wouldn’t you? But as I said, never been on it so no true frame of reference. Not sure the economic impact on escorting I believe it is more supply and demand related than affected by OnlyFans.
One thing that may be having an impact is sugaring. I never really thought about it until lately, but have read some of the forums here on TER. Seems like a lot of work, but another option to take care of physical/emotional needs. Not sure if it’s right for me, but I can see some leaving to go that route with less legal exposure.

It’s a common misconception that being an attractive woman with an Only Fans account equals guaranteed wealth. But such is not the case. There are hundreds of thousands of women with Only Fans accounts but only a very small percentage ever make the big bucks.
According to the numbers I've seen. There are 12 million artists on Spotify. 97.5 percent of those earned less than $1000 in 2024.
From my distant seat, it appears that Spotify and OF (and other platforms) are in the next phase of the "Gold Rush". The people who jumped in early made good money. And word spread. The late comers are sharing the leftovers. But, the people making the real money are the folks selling picks and shovels (platform owners).
So, like the Inspector, I don't think OF is a viable competitor to the escort economy. But, there are probably plenty of potential OF subscribers, who don't have the disposable income, have access to a lively escort market and/or don't have the schedule flexibility to utilize escorts. So, OF is a good alternative for them.

That's what I suspected. I never really understood the OF business model. If I want pictures of naked women, I go to a porn site where I can choose from thousands; it's not a market for a single vendor with a single product.
I did, however, try it, just in case. One account was with a very well-known porn star. I could have gotten similar content elsewhere and, as I predicted when I signed up, I let the subscription go on much too long, long after I stopped checking in. The second account was with a provider, who posted really good videos of herself on OF. But I must say -- after a couple of weeks, the heat died.
In no way is it a substitute for the real thing.
Avoid the porn stars and pro escorts, and there are atteactive, witty content creators who will engage in benign chat sessions or do sexting, or create custom content.
I don't eat the same meal every day, why should I not explore different flavors of entertainment?
I suspect OF has had an impact on P4P but I don't really see it as a replacement and more than porn has been, as noted already.
I agree there is likely some shifting of the margins about who actually offers FS and who just offers these types of viewing, Cam-girl, services. But I think we already have that in person as well -- strip clubs and private viewings are sort of like that (and yes I know there is some YMMV in terms of additional services one might get -- but that is no different from escorts with OF sites I would say).

Will it slowly get rid of in person prostitution? I don't think so. I think rather than killing the industry it probably will have an impact on things like average looks, possible on level of quality but I'm not sure how much that will be or if it will be a long-lasting effect. I suspect a lot here might have to do with what portion of guys/client are happy with a voyeuristic experience versus those who want a real physical experience.
Also, just how acceptable an sexually/pornographic OF site is socially. Here it's about public access versus a largely private event. Many providers don't like someone filming because that can get out on the internet. Well, OF start on the internet. Some women might be more comfortable with the social risks of sex work than everyone learning about their OF site. Many will likely not be that comfortable going out for dinner, drinks, dancing or a movie if they know every guy they see has seen them naked and doing their sexual act. Which might also suggest that your assumption of no screening might have to change.
