I love DFK.  To me, it totally makes or breaks the experience.  What kind of health concerns other than the common cold and the flu is there with DFK.  I mean, I know all the rules of don't kiss someone less than 30 minutes after brushing your teeth and don't kiss someone that has a sore in/on their mouth.  What others are there?

Just wondering!!!

Without going into detail. Any disease that can be passed through the transmission of saliva, or blood. The biggest threat used to be mononucleosis, but I haven't even heard of that in quite a while.

No, I am not trying to "scare the hell" out of anyone or send anyone into hysterics either, just stating well known facts.

DFK is very important and is definitely a question asked at interviews of potential escorts. Escorts not genuinely prepared to do it are turned down.

Its what makes an encounter passionate and warm.

But as always hygiene factors come into it as with any other part of the encounter. Clients have to realize that proper cleanliness will result in the maximizing of the pleasure of the encounter!

it is estimated that there are 42 million people in the world today infected with HIV. there is ONE documented case on file in which it is BELIEVED the virus was transmitted through kissing (hetero monogamous couple, he's infected. their only unproteced activity is kissing, she acquires the virus. i believe i have the facts straight). many experts feel that even this one finding was inconclusive.

i have not been able to find any documented cases that demonstrate hepatitis B or C to be transmitted through kissing.

bloodborne viruses like hiv and hep are not BELIEVED to be readily transferrable through kissing (or through oral sex for that matter), due to several factors:
1. little or no blood present
2. enzymes and proteins in saliva attack the virus
3. if swallowed, stronger digestive juices will destroy the virus; HIV and hepatitis cannot live in a highly acidic environment.

herpes can be transmitted through kissing but much lower percentages than with unprotected intercourse. people are careful to tell you that you CAN be infected even if there are no visible lesions, but the risk is even lower.

bacterial and fungal infections can be transferred through kissing but are once again substantially lower risk than with uncovered intercourse. chlamydia is thought to be the most common and gonorrhea is rare.

try these websites: www.cdc.gov (center for disease control), www.nih.gov (national institute of health), or www.thebody.com (an excellent site with std Q&A answered by dr. ryan kull of columbia university).

As I understand your post, blood and saliva transmit the same diseases???  I really don't see how this is possible when even the CDC says that you can't get AIDS through kissing unless someone has an open sore in their mouth and you in yours.....

HMMMM... This is confusing.

there is a lot of evidence to suggest that protein and enzymes in saliva attack viruses carried by blood - thus the low instance of infection through kissing and oral sex (see my other post).

it did sound to me, though, that he was saying blood OR saliva (in other words, viral disease carried by blood OR fungal or bacterial disease carried in saliva.... but i don't mean to speak for him.

go to www.thebody.com and ask dr kull your questions... you can certainly have more faith in his answers than those posted anonymously here on ter.

A disease that can be transmitted through saliva OR blood. The chances are not as great with kissing as with other forms of sexual contact.

You asked about DFK. That is a little more than just a kiss. The longer someone's tongue is in your mouth, the greater the chances of acquiring something. Many variables come into play here.
With something like HIV or HCV, both parties would have to have open wounds in the mouth for the transference of blood to occur. Hepatitis B spreads when body fluids (including blood, saliva, semen, and vaginal fluid) from an infected person enter another person's body through a break in the skin or a mucous membrane. The virus can also spread from an infected mother to her baby during childbirth.  In any case, the chances of a blood born disease through kissing are almost non existent

Other diseases that are easier to transmit and spread:

Mononucleosis
Mono is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus, named after the two British researchers who first identified it in 1964, although the disease itself had been recognized many years earlier. A common member of the herpes family of viruses, Epstein-Barr is spread primarily through the exchange of saliva, which is why mono is sometimes known as the "kissing disease." However, coughing or other contact with infected saliva can also pass it from one person to another.

Gonorrhea is caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae, a bacterium that can grow and multiply easily in mucus membranes of the body. Gonorrhea bacteria can grow in the warm, moist areas of the reproductive tract, including the cervix (opening to the womb), uterus (womb), and fallopian tubes (egg canals) in women, and in the urethra (the tube that carries urine from the bladder to outside the body) in women and men. The bacteria can also grow in the mouth, throat, and anus.

Syphilis is a highly contagious disease spread primarily by sexual activity, including oral and anal sex. Occasionally, the disease can be passed to another person through prolonged kissing or close bodily contact with an infected person.

Again, the transmission rate of disease from kissing (with the exception of mono) is far lower than from unprotected sex.

Yes Clarence, asking a real Dr these questions most certainly is more accurate and trustworthy than asking on a message board.

it pays. Plaque is an insidious material that builds up between the tooth enamel and the gum line. Careful brushing twice a day, flossing with a fluoride doped floss, like colgate dental tape, and regular use of Biotene mouthwash will reduce the buildup of plaque to nil. IF plaque accumulates, you will begin to open the space between the tooth and the gum (this gap is called the *sulcus*) which may fill up with food particles and bacterial colonies, resulting in bleeding gums, tooth decay, bone loss, and open a potential infection route for much nastier invaders. You don't necessarily require a syphilitic
ulcer to provide this opportunity. Those with *xerostoma* or dry mouth syndrome, either from neruologic disorders or medications, must be especially careful as saliva is one of your body's great antimicrobial defenses. Biotene mouthwash and chewing gum is highly recommended as Biotene contains the same protective enzymes that occur in saliva, and will not irritate the gums as an alcohol based mouthwash will.

I'll be at the mixer on the 20th and possibly the 21st, but I can't let my LA boys miss out on the fun of getting to meet me.... It's too bad that some people don't appreciate what you have to say.... don't worry about it.  There are lots of us here that always enjoy your postings and find them very educational.  You truly have a warm spot in my heart, darling...
