What do you think about a provider who is offering incentives for good reviews after I and a few others gave her less than stellar reviews? I think she posted a phony review following my negative review. Is there a way to insure honesty in the review process?

I don't condone incentives for favorable reviews. I look at more than one review, or pass on the lady if not enough of them, to get a 'broader' picture.

Insure honesty in the review process? I haven't a clue how to do this realistically

Again, you have to look at more than one review.  And I suppose if you were suspicious, or if there was only one or two reviews, you might look at the history of the reviewer as well.

...where a client will attempt to get a discount, or a freebie, in exchange for a favorable review.  I personally find this, besides of course dishonest and low down, disgusting.  I guess some guys will just stoop so low just to get it for free.

There is one instance, where a gal I know had a very poor review, and at the time her only one, posted by a guy who attempted to extort free services.  I don't remember who, but another hobbyist posted to her local board on TER that this was a fraudulent review and posted a correct and very favorable one.  Subsequently she got a 2nd great review from another hobbyist.  When she visited NYC, I decided to see her, simply based on the remarks of the poster who warned of the fraud on TER.  That session was one on 2002's highlights!

There is no way to ensure honesty. The thing you can do, that all hobbyist should do, is look at reviews and alert Staff if you see something strange. I've done that several times. Also I've had the case of a good provider I knew had a bad review posted by somebody obviously out to get her. I then posted my own review of her to "set the record straight".

I think one of the purposes of writing reviews is to "convince" providers that are not as good as they should be to improve their services. But offering incentives in exchange of good reviews goes a little too far, and sounds more like a kind of bribe to me.

When I look at reviews, I try to look at several for the same provider, because a single one is not enough, there are so many case of a first review being so great or so poor for the wrong reasons. Then I also look at other reviews written by the same reviewer and am especially cautious when the reviewer has only one review. For all you know it could be the provider herself. On the other hand when the reviewer has several reviews, then I become more confident.

It is insulting!!
I would never ever ask for a review. I never bring it up.
That is sooooo tacky!!

There are times when the client has asked if he can post one. I have told them that is fine. Also, I have had clients say they don't post them (ya know, the lurkers..lol) I also tell them that is fine.

You can not ensure honesty. The only way you can establish that is knowing and believing who you are seeing.

Not always.  Some of us are gentlemen from the old school - We Don't Kiss and Tell.  We enjoy our time with the ladies, treasure the fond memories, but feel that the time spent together is private.

Just my thoughts...

I recall the manner in which Nicole "asked" (if one would even call it that) I write a review.  She emailed me the day after our visit to inquire if I enjoyed myself and asked for any suggestions.  She also inquired if I intended to review her. I wrote back saying I hadn't but since she was so wonderful I would if she would tell me how.  She gave me info for BigDoggie.  She did ask that I be truthful and not mean nor derogatory.  She did not try to tell me what to write in any way.  She asked for nothing in return nor did I.  I query y'all, what's wrong with that approach???

...I see nothing at all wrong with a provider asking for a review after the fact.

I do remember, however, there was a provider in the chat room who said she'd give a free session to anyone who'd write her a review.  I've also seen it advertised by a provider that if someone writes a review for her they get a discount on the next session--I guess repeat clients who don't review would not be given the same discount.  I do see something wrong with these kinds of tactics as they do compromise the integrity of the review system.

Better than getting veiled threats about what could happen if you gave a bad review, such as happened with my last encounter.

Uh, yes!  It's a joke that's much older than I am.  Which means you can believe what NOSC wrote.

As described it's completely tacky.  If, on the other hand, she's trying to say something like "hey, I've learned my lesson, come check out the new me" I think it would be perfectly acceptable.  The key is whether everybody gets the upgraded service, review or no review.

I have had providers ask me to post reviews after the session.  None have ever done so beforehand, and none made any suggestions about the content of the review.  I guess they were confident enough in their service that they didn't think they had to.  They were right.

I've heard about situations like that but thankfully never encountered it personally.  It goes far beyond tacky, it's completely dishonest...not only is she being dishonest, but the same is true for any guy who takes her up on the offer.

But whether or not is was to me, my post had nothing at all to do with you.  I have absolutely no problem with a gal who might tell me after the fact that she would appreciate a review.  I'm sure you yourself wouldn't make that suggestion unless you were reasonably sure that I'd had a good time with you, & although we've never met, I'm also very sure you'd leave it completely up to me & not attempt to influence what I would say or the numerical scores I might decide were appropriate.  There's nothing I see wrong with that.

I was reffering to the behavior described in the original post at the top of the thread.  I assume that's what greywolf was referring to as well.  That behavior is indeed beyond tacky, the word I used in my earlier post.

Has nothing whatever to do with your posts, Nicole.  On the contrary, I think those were thoughtful and well presented.

Hope this resolves all the misunderstandings.

Your way to young to know the "Real" meaning behind what NOSC said, but those of us that aren't, remember the old "Bowery Boys", a character, named "Mugsy" responded with that statement, everytime someone said something that applied to him personaly. It was a play on words, meant to be funny....Hope that helps....Hugs, Robyn

I understand fully how you feel. I always ask a lady first whether she wants to be reviewed and respect her wishes whatever she decides. But when I read reviews I sometimes get so disgusted by a reviewer that I start wondering about the whole review thing. I then even go back to my own reviews to check I have not been disrespectful by mistake.

I was just before writing this reading a review of a nice lady I've seen, and it really made my skin crawl. Urghh. As you say the style of the writer is such that if I were a provider I would never ever want to see this guy. This really is a tough job.

I think in this business, your resume; so to speak, are your reviews. If a client writes a negative review regarding an average or bellow average experience, it has the potential to diminish an escorts business. I think unless a session is catastrophic or someone has ripped you off, a personal email to the lady herself will suffice. I think if a woman is writing her own reviews because she had many negative reviews, she is probably trying to salvage her business and not self glorify. And by that point she probably learned from the experience and will make an effort to improve. But in the larger picture, we are all human and we make mistakes. Forgiveness and moving on are the building blocks for all involved in this situation.
