I was just writing to a client and I mentioned an unusual gift he'd given me upon first meeting - a carved marble fetish of a bear carrying a bundle on his back, very Native American and intended for good luck I think.

I was really delighted with this gift and am wondering what other unusual gifts have been received/given in this context?

A pass to play laser tag lol

He knew my son was coming home on leave, and this one of my son and I's favorite past times together, was playing paintball.  It included enough playtime and equipment for my son and I and 6 of his friends.  

With his time being so limited when he comes home, its hard to divvy up his time for all of those that he wants to spend time with.  The play pass covered a lot of those bases.
 
It was so genuine and heart felt, it totally made me cry.  He gave my son the gift of time together with him and his friends.  I couldnt have been more blessed!

As a sampling:
-A marble apple (the reason for such should be obvious
-A framed original handprint and autograph of Anais Nin
-An original copy of "Commercialized Prostitution in New York City" published in 1913
-My first piece of glass art
-A handmade omamori for luck and safety during my travels, which I keep with me

This does not diminish in any way the amazing and thoughtful books (and more books), treats, music, and other assorted items gentlemen have been kind enough to share with me. The connection has always been preeminent in my mind, and when the gift is tailored to such, it always becomes an instant "favorite."

my very first gentleman friend I saw...I was nervous...however We had an Awesome time...and when it was time for me to leave...he told me he had a gift for me...to remember him by...he gave me a ring...lol...the cockring he bought before I arrived...amongst the other items

I used to wear Irish tweed Donegal pork pie hats, so one gal ended up giving me a new one every year.  (I have a closet full of them now.)

I also have some nice suede windbreakers and a nice Goretex winter coat, plus numerous ties, shirts and a pair of slacks.

Gals seem to like to dress me up.

I, on the other hand, like to buy and give out interesting one of kind art jewelry, but recently I gave one gal a very academic book on the source of English grammar usage.  Some how it came up in our conversation and I mentioned a book I was reading at the time on the subject.  I brought the book over to her at her insistance and darn if she didn't devour it and start pointing out things in it that I had missed.

Don't judge any book by its cover, as the saying goes.

Wouldn't have happened to be "Our Magnificent Bastard Tongue: The Untold Story of English" by any chance? Great book.
