... a statement of fact for Rush and the particular hell he's living through right now (and if you don't think battling chronic, inoperable back pain without the very drugs that make it bearable AND working through withdrawal from those same drugs isn't hell . . . Just hope you never find out)and a warning for those that too easily take glee in his suffering.
Be gentle, be kind, for the full facts remain unknown except for those involved, and, even then, they can know only their limited part. We knowst well how far he fell, But knowst naught how hard he fought. (author unknown) I am neither a fan or a critic of Rush. I hear him only sporadically, and listen mainly for the humor I find in his bombast. I have no proclivity to support or condemn, but I do have sympathy for the fraility that he shares with many,if not all,of us who constantly fall short of the high ideals we espouse.
Since I am an infrequent listener, I don't know the vitriol concerning drugs that he promulgates from his pulpit. I have a sense from this thread that he is harsh in his judgement. Perhaps his condemnation of drugs and their pushers is born not so much from hypocracy but from from the anquish and torment he feels in the HELL into which he has fallen. Perhaps he knows first hand the seductive, slippery slope that often channels the innocent to perdition. Perhaps he condemns to warn others of the perils. Perhaps we should be more gentle in our premature judgements.
Tell it to the thousands he has helped put and keep in jail by fanning the flames of hard line public opinion against drug use. This man has been a demigod for years. I'm sorry I just can not muster sympathy for the likes of this man.
Amen...where oh where is the liberal "compassion"??? Instead of calling for Limbaugh's head they should be using this as an opportunity to further expose this nations IDIODIC drug laws. I'm currently listening to Neal Boortz who just quoted a study by the Rand Corp. (requested by the Clinton administration) regarding the most effective way to cocaine abuse. Turns out the most effective means is treatment, not kicking doors in or sending troops to Columbia. yet only 7%of the dollars used in the drug fight go to treatment. (which is cheaper). When the results of this study were presented to Clinton, it was rejected.
how are things on Planet claire? Rush is a big fat moron to paraphrase a real mensch.
I will agree that he is witty and charming, and that he is good at being combative and thus a great radio personality.
BUT NEVER CONFUSE HIM WITH AN EDUCATED OR INFORMED PERSON. He is neither. I knew more history than he does when I was about 6 years old. He is the essence of a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. I used to love listening to him just to see how big his gaffes were! When I found out how many idiots took what he said as turth, I was shocked! At least Leykis doesn't claim to be informative, just entertaining.
Be entertained- but don't be misled. Rush is about as good a source for news at the onion, except they are better balanced.
