Following up my earlier post, I have seen two urologists and they have both advised that I need to get circumcized due tp phimosis (tightening of skin). I am starting to make my peace with it and will prob have the procedure in the next month. I'll keep you posted.
I read up on circumcision more than a couple of decades ago when deciding whether my infant son should be cut at the time (decided not to have him cut). I was circumcised as an infant, so I guess I really have no "skin in the game" in regards to any decisions about adult circumcision. I'm certainly no doctor, but I know that if I were you, I would want to find out as much as possible about all of the options before losing 10,000-20,000 nerve endings from my penis.
"A number of studies show that phimosis can be safely and effectively treated by the application of topical steroids in 80-90% of cases." Hopefully, you and your doctors have fully considered the more conservative non-surgical options as well as the more conservative surgical options such as "Preputioplasty" or the "Dorsal Slit". I would certainly ask about how many alternative procedures your urologists have performed in the past.
Just in case you were looking for more information, here's probably too much -
Then there was the urologist who saved foreskins and had them made into a wallet. He was showing to his fellow doctors, who wondered what the big deal was. He replied - "Well, if I rub it, it turns into a suitcase"
