This is my WHAT THE FUCK moment.  For starters, I've been a member off and on (mostly on) of this site for 2 DECADES.  That said, there have been numerous royal pain-in-the-ass periods.  When overseas billing started, VISA gift cards couldn't be used anymore.  You fixed that.  Now, I pay with random retailers gift cards and it works, still a pain in the ass though.  My current beef is the pop up verification to show I'm actually a member.  When reading new reviews of my area, I generally right click 3 providers at a time.  Then I right click their advert and if there's interest, I'll right click/new window 3 of her reviews, scan them for desired content and delete.  After a few minutes of this, I get the very annoying verification box which requires me to click on "all the crosswalks" etc.  Bridges, mountains/hills, crosswalks ok, traffic lights...fuck you.  Is it the lights or the lights, pole, wires and base.  Is it the light pole 27 blocks in the background that's barely visible?

Just went thru 3 DIFFERENT SCREENS until I finally got to the buss that filled 2/3 of the grid.  My SO laying in bed on the other side of my desktop screen asks, "what the fuck are you clicking?!".

What are the options here?  Can I pay even steeper monthly membership fees to bypass this bullshit?

This is 90% rant, but I'd like an answer with something else than some bullshit bandwidth excuse.  I can watch 5 different pornhub videos at the same time in HD.  This is two color text FFS!

At least I don't have an SO monitoring my computer use.
Also, why the fuck can't you wait to do your "surfing for Hos" until you're not in bed with your SO?
Sounds pretty compulsive to me.
Didja ever think about saying to her, "Honey, I'm not tired. I'm going to the kitchen to make a sandwich. Want anything?"

I went to the doctor and I said: "Doc, it hurts when I do this (lifts arm)."  The doctor said: "Don't do that!"

If you get the very annoying verification box when you right click several times...don't right click!  I've been a member for 18 years and I've never right clicked when searching reviews.  In fact, I don't even know what the fuck that means when it comes to searching reviews.  I think you may be too tech savvy for your own good.

If paying for VIP is such a hassle, why don't you do Problem Reports?  You'll get free VIP and more importantly, you'll be contributing to the accuracy of TER profiles.

I should have attached a detailed bedroom floor plan to my comment so you wouldn't leap to wrong conclusions.  I spend an hour or so every night before going to sleep checking non-work email accounts, grab the daily news bits and then do a little lurking.  She's in bed 10' away but when she hears not stop clicking from the verification box she gets annoyed. I am not monitored ffs.
I have a desktop that I work from, not a laptop in bed.
It's not compulsive, just my daily routine unless something else more interesting happens to occur.  Speaking of compulsive, it appears the first thing you do in the morning is jump on TER (6:47 am) for a morning tug.

It's not my first rodeo nicky, step back and chill a bit.

right click gives you an option to open the link/pic in a new screen and saves a lot of time.  From the review listings, I can right click on a few providers to open their pages in separate screens, usually 3 at a time.  Then from my page bar, I can open the latest page, right click on her advert, then right click on her new reviews.  They all open in new screens.  I look at the ad/website, then open her review, read, delete and the next review is open on my screen.  It's very efficient actually without the back clicking.  Works great from a keyboard with a mouse, doesn't work as well from a laptop/touchpad.  Just because you don't use the functions available doesn't mean it's not a great way to work thru the reviews quickly to find the info you want.
As you can see as I attempt to describe this, I am NOT tech savvy.  I just don't have a lot of time to waste and being an opportunist, I like to keep my thumb on what's going on in my own back yard as well as around the country for when I'm on the road.

If this is the worst thing happening in your life you must be very charmed indeed.  All I can say is that I hope the New Year brings you some peace and joy.

They don't want people running screen scrapers to grab all the reviews.   It can cause all types of problems such as slowing down the site. Possibly a ddos (distributed denial of service) if many people are doing the same thing with automated downloaders.

Certainly not the worst.  Created the post to see if this is an annoyance to anyone else. Glad you had the opportunity to mock. Fuck off you condescending douche.

I was asleep at 6:47 am EST. I can't help what TER's time codes say.
And if it's not your "first rodeo," stop acting like it and take your own advice: step back and chill a bit.

I’m pretty sure that is a Henny Youngman joke. Still funny.

Just saying...

It's a request rate limiter that asks for captcha every time it thinks too many requests coming from your side.

While it somewhat deters excessive scraping, it does not really prevent it though - yes, speaking from experience here.

Here are some things you can do to make it better, although it's not a guarantee it will work:

1. Switch between different VPNs for every batch of your link clicks. Can be a pain, probably moreso than captcha solving once in a while.
2. Don't open large number of links in a short period of time.
3. Don't refresh pages or go back to the "main page" too often. This conserves requests your browser sends.

The second one generally should help. When I scrape, I use an algorithm that puts some random delays in between the requests, so the limiter doesn't pick it up right away. Eventually, it will reach the threshold anyway and you have to solve a captcha.

Being a cheater as opposed to having the courage to become single again.  I don't think you can blame TER because you're on their site while your SO is in the same room. Do you stay with her because you need the money she makes, or what?   Not judging, just a curious observer.

That's what I think.  On my computer, your post indicated it WAS posted at 6:47 am.  But I'm in L.A. so I think the posts are listed in PST on my computer while they would show up as EST on your computer.  Maybe perfectstorm could weigh in but that seems like the logical answer.

I'm not using a VPN so my IP address is EST. Most likely I posted it at 9:47 am EST.

If you don't set it yourself, I think the initial setting is wherever you were when you first signed up for TER.
I believe if you travel and log in from another time zone, it will still show your "normal" time zone. I don't think it changes automatically for you if you are traveling or using  a VPN.

Anyway in this case, nick posted at 8:47am his time, which shows up at 6:47 your time, and 4:47 my time.
