Are some of us naturally "born" to be a hobbyist or a provider? Is it part of our hard wiring?
When I was 12 years old, I heard the word "whore" for the first time. (This was the early 60s, mind you). I asked my dad what it meant. He obliged and explained, concluding with the tale that in the 20s, in New York City, there had been a men's club where, for $50, you could "get a great steak, a great bottle of wine, and a girl to go upstairs with after dinner."
I knew, in my marrow, at that moment, that I wanted to go to that club. Hell, I wanted to live in that club!
It took me three years before I had my first provider experience -- albeit a $2 bj in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico -- but I also knew, at that moment, that I had arrived at a place that felt like home.
Some providers have told me that they've wanted to do this since they can remember. For some of us, it seems to be in the blood. Perhaps for others, it's a nice place to visit, but not a place to live.
So we'll all give into our more animal instincts from time to time (the sexual response is one of life's most primitive instincts), but in the scheme of things, wanting and doing are completely opposite ends of the same continuum. So by your logic, if you had never heard that word or story, you'd be wandering aimlessly in life's jungle?
None of us are made for anything. We can be and or do anything that our minds set out to do. It's doesn't mean you'll be good at it or even like it if you are comparing it to one thing or another. Just know that we are ALL wired to have the sexual response, some to different or even greater degrees than others. If you chose like you have done to chase this part of your nature, so be it. Same for providers. It's not all that special that we've come to this calling, it's more likely that given the situations in our lives, we've chosen to be in this mind and spirit and work or in our cases, spend money to cultivate these interests. While it's a nice romantic notion, let it suffice to say, we are doing it of our own choosing. Yes, some of us master this universe and some of us are enriched by it (rich is a frame of mind too). But born to anything is a great stretch in most cases, but I will give it to you that there may be a few among us with very special gifts in the carnal arts. I've not met anyone like that who came by it naturally. Even the Michael Jordan's of TER need to practice.
no specific gene sequence of base pairs... no enzyme... just as there is no common story that I have found to be told by those who choose to tell me.... and hobbiests... the same.
Were I to offer, we seek that which will quence our thrist for a satisfying relationship on multiple levels... and this being the easiest path... choose it to satisfy some aspects of that which we seek...
Interesting... on thing that I do note. hobbiests and providers both, in some there is a real reluctance to engage true emotions... and when they come into play, they back WAY off! That I find interesting... and a bit sad.
but will - as usual... you post well. So continue to post well....
In Catholic high school, I used to give answers in religion class that the other guys found strange. Like I wouldn't mind it if my wife posed nude in a magazine (I now just wish I were lucky enough to have such a wife!) It was an all-male high school. The guys in their thought that was peculiar, and so did the Society of Mary Brother running the class.
I wondered throughout my life why prostitution was considered wrong.
You said all of that to opine that prostitution isn't wrong. Now, I get it. The SMB beat you to an inch of your life and you have been carrying that around for almost 40 years. Talk about persistence.
. . . I was married for 20 years; it never occurred to me that I would hobby. After 3 years of separation my first-born decided to go to CA to finish high school and my younger one decided to go to a boarding school -- both against my wishes. I was finally free and decided to do something for myself.
To answer the question if hobbyists (can't speak for providers) are born into it or made, it's both. Here's how.
Human beings are natually designed to enjoy sex, as well as seek out any pleasure in general. If a man can't get sex from civvies, he will find another way. Sex is deeply ingrained into who we are as humans, probably more so for men than for women. No wonder escorting is called the "world's oldest profession."
People can become hobbyists because of circumstances. Like the title of my post says, men will choose the easiest way to get sex. Some men are lucky enough to get all the sex they want from civvies. Others have no choice but to use providers, because it's too difficult, if not impossible, to get it from civvies.
