Is the minimum age of the provider you're looking for.  45 years old / 2 = 22.5 + 4 = 26 (we round down and only applies if the hobbyist is 28-55 years old).  I can click with 26 year olds (did tonight), but if you go much lower, the professionalism / Barbie Doll ratio just doesn't cut it.

So at the end of the evening tonight we're down in the bar, showing pictures of our families, and she says "that's my mom, she's your age".  Uggh.

What's the maximum?  I'm thinking age minus 2 or 3, largely dependent upon the woman's mental and physical outlook on life.

Thoughts?

Your theorem looks good to me - on the average. Does not mean that you can't click with a younger girl, provided that she is bright and has traveled a bit.

As for the maximum, I do not agree. I have seen ladies 5-10 years older than me, and had a wonderful time.

Call me gun shy but sharing family photos was one of the mistakes I made in getting too close to a provider. Ironic, to be looking for a GFE does not mean we are looking for GF's.  Why is that a hard concept to master?  How do you make yourself likeable without risking becoming loveable?

I heard it was an ancient Japanese secret, that a man should only ever mate with a woman who is half his age plus seven.

I do find that ratio has been kind to me. When I was 33 I had a wonderful click with a woman 23.5 years old. When I was 19 I dated a 16.5 year old. When I was 14 I lost my virginity with a fellow (is that the right word? or "sister"?) 14 year old. All were my-age / 2 + 7.

I don't know whether the ancient Japanese secret is meant to say that you "mate" as in, copulate; or "mate" as in, establish a permanent long-term relationship in which, AFTER it's been established, it's OK to break the mathematical rule. I'm currently dating a woman exactly my age, and it seems to work fine, as well. Maybe I'm just a genius at clicking. :)

Sorry, but this whole post is just SAD....Who gives a damn...except those of you who are not aging gracefully...I have a GREAT time with guys of all ages and they in-turn, REALLY enjoy me and I have no shortage of fans. Men who are, truly in tune with themselves, not insecure and love women, don't care about any of your silly math, their looking for quality at any age...We're each unique individuals, no matter our age, not prime beef...so aged or not is strictly a preference...nothing more. IMHO

I'm 56.  I have 3 ATF's at this point: aged 38, 51 and 22.  There simply ain't no formula for that one, other than a smile thinking about them.

I never look at age when making a decision of this nature.  Why place any limit on the potential of enjoyment?

One of the things I find refreshing on TER is that there are many providers who openly admit to being 'older' and who have children.  I think it's great they can be so open about it.  In the UK being young, single and childless appears to be much more important.  I know one provider here who has to pretend she doesn't have a child.  It shouldn't make any difference but it does.

TER members seem generally to have much more sense than to judge on such irrelevant factors!!

I'm not sure you can put a formula to this ... it's kind of like wine.  Wine usually get better with age - but it has to be kept in the right conditions.  And you have to be careful to drink it before it goes past maturity or it will taste like vinegar.  And different wines for different moods and cuisines.  Usually I like the traditional white wine with fish/seafood and red wine with meat but sometimes I like to have a sparkling wine or something from a country whose vineyards are just starting to ripen.  And then there's the fall with the "new wine" ..... very young.  Right now, my preference is for medium-aged, full bodied wines.

It's about the person/people. Who cares about anything else? In my private life, my men have been between 10 and 20 years younger. This works very well for me, and for what I/we want. Also, my male/female personal friends tend to be anywhere between 10 years older to 20 years younger.
I'm one of 5 (siblings)- 3 are single and have been for many years, and 2 are married, and their prospective spouses are 12, and 14 years younger. It's whatever works...and I love it all!

Enjoy, enjoy for what it is,
