In advertisements and websites, I repeatedly see a provider who is described (or describes herself) as open minded.

What do providers think this means when they see/use this term, and what do most hobbyists think it means when it is used?  Is there any disconnect between the two interpretations?

I am very cautious when I see this decription unless the VIP review section indicates that the provider is indeed open minded.  I would guess it applies most frequently to anal or oral, but maybe others think of role playing or fetishes,

After all "Open minded" could mean a world of different things to different people. Some it could have to do with simular meanings as to what you mention. Others it may not have anything to do with the hobby at all. Take for instance (no I do not advertise myself as "open minded") I do feel I am relatively "open minded about a number of things. I am open to learning about other points of view in politics, religion, lifestyles, and so much more. I am open to the idea that not all hobbiest are healthy 35 to 50 yr old guys who work in white color jobs, other ages, blue color jobs, some are handicapped, others are ladies. The gentlemen come from all sorts of cultral backgrounds and job fields. Married, single, involved, differend educational backgrounds and looks good looking (a few I have met could be called drop dead georgous) or the average to plain john. To me being open minded means I look at the individual and remain willing to learn something new every day

That said, however, I think it's usually intended to imply that she's willing to at least listen to requests for something other than "BJ, CG, CFS".  No guarantee that she'll actually *comply* with those requests, but you can certainly bring it up. It's doubtful that you'll make the weirdest request she's ever heard.

Some requests might be things like letting you shoot on her face/chest, or wearing a particular outfit, or roleplay, or anal play, or some mild BDSM activity, or some degree of fetish-friendliness.  However, if what really rings your bell is basting her in mustard and sodomizing her while she's wearing a cheerleader uniform on the altar of a church at midnight, while thirteen acolytes in black robes stand in a circle around you chanting in Latin and masturbating furiously... you'd better look for something more than just "openminded", my friend.

Depending on the lady "open minded" could mean anything from she'll consider BBBJ to going to Greece and bringing along a goat, a rope, ball gag, and a medical speculum.

That's what I always understood, but, as they say in the "Monk" theme--"I could be wrong now, but I don't think so!"

I consider myself very open-minded in "civvie" life (how could I not be? Look at one of the ways I make my living), which to me, means I am not quick to judge what sane, mature adults do.

On the other hand, I do not advertise myself as an open-minded provider because I think that will possibly cause me to get requests to do some things I'm not quite ready to do yet and I hate to have to tell the requestor no.

A nurse may say "no" to a sexual request, but she will never say "Ewwww".

Open-minded OTOH means that she is more likely to say "yes", and will probably never say "ewww"
