I don't spend too much time in these one star wonders, but now and then it's any port in the storm.

I bet some of you can relate to these.

One exception to the article was a time I stayed at a America's Best Value Motel.  I was quite impressed with it, even though one of the hotel staff did try to convert me to their religion.

Well, you can't have everything.  (Where would you keep it?)

LOL, about two years ago I was on the way to Omaha & my truck broke down about a mile from some tiny town somewhere in IA. The car rental place was closed for the nite, and the repair was going to take at least 3 days(tire came off on Interstate, and back end dragged for about a mile b4 I was able to stop). The only hotel was an America's Best Value Inn.. which surprisingly, was not that bad, lol. Only had to stay the one night, until the rental place opened in the am.. I think a lot has to do with who is running the place, as the one we use to have in Madison was a DUMP.

....some (well 2) of these chains on that list have "higher end" versions. Ramada: I stayed in a Ramada Plaza (recently converted from a Crowne Plaza) in CT and it was supposed to be 3 star and it was pretty nice. Clarion: a nice Clarion suites in Arlington VA (Courthouse metro area) also.   Best Western isn't on that "worst" list but it has a PLUS and PREMIER version also.
