As soon as she insisted on sleeping alone, we quit making love and I began to seek TER ladies to satisfy my needs.  Just my $0.02.

The relationship with the last SO began to go downhill after we started sleeping in separate rooms. It started innocently enough, as I was recovering from leg surgery and would have twitchy legs during the night as I was recovering.

Since she couldn't sleep while this was going on, I moved to the "spare" bedroom and my former bed to sleep on my own. After about three months and the legs had healed to where I could sleep through the night without interruption, I mentioned "moving back in" to the main bedroom.

She said that she had gotten used to sleeping on her own again and having the whole bed to herself, and that she wanted to keep it separate "for a while." That turned into 2+ years, the level of sex went from twice a week to twice a month, then dried up altogether to where it was nothing in the last 8 months of the relationship.

Once we called an end to the relationship, I started searching for and making use of the services of providers. It's a slippery slope, even without satin sheets --

Why I am reminded of this song....

I know couples who sleep separately, mostly because of snoring.  Still, it is very hard on the sex.  
The separate bed rooms marked the last breath in my already dead first marriage.  She had avoidance down to a science.

Currently, because on an injury, I have been unable to sleep in a flat bed for most of a year...  in the last several months, I have started resuming to either start or finish the night in the king size bed (almost like sleeping alone as it is).  With a change in meds & improved medical condition I have become more able to sleep in the bed.  I have had to be persistant to continue to have any sex at home...  
To be fair, she would never think of sex if I didn't ask...  She has never asked or led to sex in 20 years.  She does avoid moderately, can not stand touching...  has always claimed extreem ticklishness so spontanious sex is out.  With notice & a lot of warm up, she enjoys herself within the strict limits of her menu.  

I have hobbied in recent years because there are experiences I had never had & would never have since they are not on her menu.
