this is afterall me [singleton] and the reason i'm not replying to you under my TER handle (and with my Bill Maher alias instead) is that first of all my hero Bill Maher can kick your Bill O'Reilly's arse 9 ways from sunday (or 6 ways TO sunday, today is monday, no? and also to use this opportune thread to re-iterate an important TER posting guideline (talk about the "Ten Condemnants"! which is: Thou Shall Not Post Under More than One Handle/Alias in One Thread ... EXCEPT (and GND will gently correct me if i'm wrong) if it's clear to the majority of folks reading/posting in that thread what your REAL identity is, or barring that, if it's soley for humourous [sic] purposes -- that is to say NOT with dubious intent (or any other deceptive purposes)

now, if-n-while i still have your attention (that is, if you've made it this far reading this post) ... here's something that kinda bugs me (big time):
WHY is it that the Right [no quotations intended] feels that simply "Pumping It Louder" will automagically make their views "Right" ? [quotations intended] ... cases in point: rabid talk-radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh, "unfair & imbalanced" new(s) networks like "Faux News" and of course Bill O'Reilly and his high-decibel ilk?
don't get me wrong, i think O'Reilly is an intelligent man and on the few occasions when i've been real drunk and/or my remote was lost, i've actually watched his shows. heck, i've even read his book (if you can call it that) cover-to-cover (all 100+ pages of it, in 45 minutes in an airport gift shop) ... i don't doubt for a minute that sensational "news" shows like "The Factor" and FoxNews itself have higher ratings, but since when did that mean anything profound or note-worthy? (have folks ever heard of H.L. Mencken's "least-common-denominator" theory of popularity/intelligence?
it just seems (to me at least) that "shouting down" your opposition has become the Right-wing equivalent of calm and reasoned debate (it wasn't always this way) ... and when a soft-spoken introspective and thoughtful satirist-cum-pundit like (my other hero) Al Franken puts forth his poignant views in a book, instead of addressing and/or refuting them the Right resorts to (copyright infringement) law suits over the use of their precious (but oxymoronic) gotchya-phrase: "Fair & Balanced"? LOL

i run into one of the "yung-uns" at AA meetings here in Boston every once in a while ... and having heard his "story" i have to say it's truly sad to see what a lifetime of trust-funds, aimless comfy living, shallow intellectual interests and a false sense of entitlement has done to this new generation ... but who am i to judge, my laundry ain't exactly sparkling clean either!

i'm not asking for any (frankly, i don't need them nor am i that interested) ... it's just an observation on how "balanced" this exchange has been
