Got 500+ reads only 1/2 dozen answers...they are what I expected, dudes who are responsible for their acts and hobby. They gave me confidence in the unspoken rules here. Reason this question is asked, because lately, observed many providers when asked didn't have recent tests. Other hobbyist took a more risky approach. But 6 response on over 500 reads, let me wonder the no-response attitutde?
Many STDs take several weeks, some months, before lab tests can detect them. So how long do you stay out of the hobby before getting your STD tests done?
If you keep hobbying or having sessions with your SO, do you take extra precautions within a few weeks before the tests not to get infected or infect your SO?
It doesn't make much sense to take extra precautions just because of a test. Having the test done does not give you the all clear to partake in risky behavior. You could be infected at any time, by anyone (even your SO, because, well, you never really know for sure). Always play safe, and understand that nothing except abstinence is 100% safe.

We all know that it is a moving target... you get your blood drawn and in a few days you have the results... but if you have had sex since the blood draw - the test is no longer a valid barometer of your health.
in short, the only way, as others have said, to be completely sure of a clean bill of health wrt STDs is abstanance... That possible...
EVEN if you are married - and YOU are faithful, could you contract an STD? That depends on how sure you are of your spouses fidelity!
Maybe not the answer you are looking for, but it is accurate.
from experts. Many people on the board seem to have a 20+ yrs of history. It's worth to know how they did it for so long w/o having any health issues. I wish those people shared what, if any, precautions they take to keep out of trouble. Instead when no answers are offered or questions are asked for questions, one can’t avoid wondering if most of the people actually take no precautions.
A few responses here and my own research gave me a pretty good idea about how people approach to the issue and how I should exercise precautions to avoid STDs. If you are interested I recommend checking power point presentations on CDC's web site. They give a good idea about how to recognize symptoms and results of some infections.
MOVING TARGET! which means - You cannot know... Even if the test comes back negative... you should abstain - for a month, and test again if you wish to be somewhat in the 90% category of certain - free for 6 months... well, you are pretty sure you are free- especially if you tested for all transmitted diseases HPV, Hepatitis viruses and HIV. for HIV - use the PCR - it is more sensitive. But seriously, you will only be as good - as the moment the blood was drawn...
NIH also has a fair amount of information on it as well, there are also a few organizations which post, but to be honest - the reason that I posed the question of why ask is simple, other than the hobby, what concerns you.
I have found that when people question, they are looking for validation of "something" - mainly because most of the folks on this board are fairly well educated.... and are struggling with facing an ugly truth... such as the condom slipped off, or the gal was bleeding, or you went BB in a moment of no thought... and so on...
lots of sources for information but again, it is the point in time at which you ask the correct question.
