Husband and wife in Burbank, she advertises on Craigs List or Backpage as an escort, sets up dates and while shes fucking the guy, hubby is video taping the action. The guys leave and in few days he gets a call from hubby telling him he has the video of the guys actions and if he doesn't pay up the tape will go public. Ok, question is, they have his ph#, maybe has his car licences plate, they dont know where he works or lives, cant put it on You-Tube, so unless he was followed after ( seems far fetched) or unless the idiot divulged personal information to the gal what headaches could they expect (the johns)?

This happened in December but the police are releasing the photos of the couple now in the hope that other victims of the surreptitious taping come forward.

The husband is 40 and the wife is 26.  She's about a 5 on TER's inflated rating scale.

They can look up your cellphone number and it gives name

Really dumb to create evidence against yourself...   blackmail is generally a felony.

I don't have a SO and I look very average for a 50 year old man, so I don't give a shit. Stupid people suck. I think the key to the post, is that it's a backpage or craigslist couple, I avoid them at all cost unless they're highly reviewed in here.

The only way they could get any info is either license plate or phone as you say - if the people were being careful the phone does not go back to a real name, and they should not have let anyone see the car they came in if possible (I often walk a block to wherever the appointment is).  But then how many people using Craigslist for sex even bother with a burner...

It could be they made no effort at all, just called back on the phone the guy used and said "I have a tape of you having sex with my wife".  If I had been careful and got a call like that I'd say "Enjoy the tape, sorry about your wife screaming my name during sex now"
