Providers need to learn locations and travel times before you say that you’re staying in a certain city. I’m in Chicago and you know how many times people say that they are staying in Chicago when I ask where you’re located they say Schaumburg.  On a good day that’s an hour away on a bad day it could be 2 1/2 hours away. That’s not Chicago. O’Hare airport is not Chicago yet ( I know it technically is) it on the VERY edge of Chicago (almost incorporated area) which would be considered a suburb.  You say Chicago. That means downtown. You say suburbs than that’s what it mean. I am seeing advertisements from people that have been on my hotlist for so long and finally see them coming into town and they’re like I’m staying in Schaumburg. So disappointing.

Hobbyist out there, what cities do you live in that this could attribute to your world as well?  Is Chicago the only city that is not defined properly? Or are there other cities out there that you can relate to this post?

Sorry, I’m such in a feisty mood today 2020 has really gotten to me. Not taking out anybody just getting questions out there before 2021 comes around.

Just my .02

...live in Los Angeles and it irritated to see local providers listed the ad that says “Los Angeles”. A 5-mile trip around LAX can take an hour or the Westside can take longer even in the evening.

Strangely, I don’t experience it here in the DMV as I know exactly where it is even though I am fairly new to the area.

By choice, I do the Tijuana thing, it's my playground area for hobbying.  Its not a small city, it's just as spread out as any other large city. Some of the providers are out-of-towners from other parts of Mexico who might be less familiar with the place than I am, and I barely know shit about those crazy streets, roads, neighborhoods and barrios.

I make arrangements through phone calls and/texts, and whether I'm going to get a hotel room and have her meet me there or I'm going to her place, it can often be an exercise in frustration.

I can't stand it when a provider assures me that her incall location is "easy to find from any part of the city" or it "doesn't take long to get here". Lady, I haven't even said where I am or which direction I'm coming from yet!
The other aggravation is outcalls, where they say, "whatever hotel you're in, I can be there in ten minutes" or "I'm close to all the hotels" then make me wait a hour because they're way on the other side of creation.

area is the absolute worst when it comes to this issue. Hands down. The worst. Even Shanghai isn’t as bad as the DC area!!!

For most locals and visitors, "New York" usually means Manhattan. And Manhattan usually means the easily accessible parts of city.  See the NY Board for discussions of "where to stay" and advice usually cautions against being too far away from the main subway lines: 1st Ave and 10th Ave are too far E and W; 3rd to 7th Aves. are the best. Canal St. (south) to ~96th St. (north) are good N-S limits. So, just saying "NY" is usually good for the most common occasions.  A bad situation in NYC would be if your hostess sends you to 600 EAST Nth St. when she meant 600 WEST Nth St.. It can be a nightmare to travel all the way crosstown during the day.
.
Boston is a very small city with a reasonable subway system that is also very walkable. However, visitors sometimes use "Boston" to include the suburbs, mostly around 10-20 milles outside of central Boston.  Most of those areas are easily accessible by car, other than during rush hours. If you live or work downtown and someone says "Boston," you assume downtown. Suburban "Boston" is usually a no-go for downtowners.
.
But I agree that Providers should learn the layout and travel options for the cities they frequent. That means both the neighborhoods (the South End is NOT South Boston; Hell's Kitchen is NOT Murray Hill) and the suburban layouts. Use the Local (Regional) Discussion Boards to ask for advice when planning a trip.

I am in Los Angeles ,  first thing i ask  /even before asking about rate is nearest major intersection.   even if in the same general area of the city round trip to / from office or home could be over an hour.

Chicago is certainly not the only city where this happens. Nor is this the only industry where it happens. Personally, if I were traveling to Chicago, and saw a lady's ad saying she was available in Schaumburg, I would assume it was in a completely different part of the state.

If I don't know at least the general area where her incall is located (in terms of the travel time and difficulty reaching that area), I just let her know that I'm not comfortable committing to a time without knowing if I can get there. Usually ask for the Exit number or a nearby business. And yes, I've had more than a few traveling ladies seem a bit shocked when I replied letting them know they were a 20-mile, 2-hour drive away

comfortable with an area that he or she doesn't take into consideration the fact that the recipient doesn't know the place at all.

It happens with journalists, reporters, anchors, DJs, taxi drivers, ride-share drivers, concierges, all the time.

"Just past the mall."
"Take any northbound street that parallels the harbor district."
"Use the motorcycle lane. Ticket? What ticket? No, they won't give you a ticket."
"If you miss the exit, just take the next one."
"Of course you're late, you took the new highway, not the old one."
"Go about five miles. Ok, six. Closer to seven."
"Come on out to 'The Avenue' at noon."
"It's located on the main thoroughfare."
"Avoid the 2-1 due to a traffic accident."
"It looks exactly the same as it did when I lived there as a kid."
"By the way, it's a toll road, and they only take Red-E Ryde Passes. What do you mean you don't have one? Everybody who lives here has one."
"Just ask the people at the rental car agency."
"Ignore the construction detours, just use a shortcut."
"That lane closes at 3 every afternoon for school traffic, so get there early!"
"It probably looks the exact same as roads in your country. Wait, you guys have the steering wheel on the right side of the car, don't you?"
"You can't miss it, it's near The Valley."
"It's the only five-lane highway between the capital city and here."
"Use the traffic circle."
"Stay on any highway ending with an even number and it will lead you straight there."
"Come on, everybody knows where uptown begins."
"Not far from the train station."
"No, I don't know the name of the road, but I know what it looks like."
"It's either the first left turn after the Chevron Station or if you're coming from the other direction, it might be the next street after that, but before the Starbucks. Oh, there are Starbucks on both sides of the road there, I just remembered. Did I say Chevron? I meant Shell Station. I think. It's been years since I've driven through there.  Anyway, don't you have GPS?"

covid era :45 tops. Pre-virus days rush hour commute might average 1:15. Not trying to be a prick...but I've lived near O'Hare the past 25 years. Since the I-90 construction has been completed O'hare to Schaumburg is a :15 ride. Two and a half hours from Downtown to Schaumburg is quite the exaggeration ....

Once again, I’m not saying O’hare to Schaumburg. That’s suburban traveling. I’m talking downtown to Schaumburg that in NOT considered Chicago.  Is Schaumburg considered Chicago to YOU?  No you’re not being a prick. I respect your opinion.

Boston downtown is not a big city.  Most escorts stay in Back Bay or near the financial district.

Boston suburb usually means a hotel along Rt 128, which circles Boston about 10 miles out.

Years ago, a provider that knew I lived in the DC area texted me and say that she was gonna be around BWI. I et tat you think Baltimore Washington International Airport may be close to DC  just because of the name. But no.

I used to live in Arlington Heights and worked in Schaumburg.  In my mind it is not Chicago, just like Naperville is not Chicago.  Conflating these two can be a real problem in timing expectations.
