I think that the Lakers better hope to get Gary Payton to replace him. Typical overpaid athlete who thinks that he can get by with anything. More than likely he will pay his way out of any jail time.

Here's my theory:

Kobe's shoes did not sell well when he was endorsing for his last shoe company (I think it was Reebok or Addidas) because he was not perceived to be "street" enough.

Now he signs a $40+ million dollar contract with Nike, and just a few weeks later gets busted.  That would make him more "gansta" or more "street" for the masses.  Whoever said "follow the money" was right.

Hell, if that was me, I'd be the one on trial.
