I think most gals would react this way...

"Even if you're a low-volume provider, how would you remember them?"

Ten years, ten thousand clients later, she still remembers me, with hope I will call again.

"It's easy for a guy to get spoiled seeing ladies like most that I have seen, because they are always on time, ready, reliable and really good."

Beauty and performance ratings are more often than not, judged differently.
Contrary to popular opinion, some women don't find me strikingly handsome and debonair.
It works both ways, regardless of who we think we are, with differing views on "really good".
Other than that fact, I agree with your post.

and possibly dangerous.

Maybe desperate too and are looking for anything that will help gain them access to an escort.

I would report them to a black-list board as possibly dangerous, and ignore them totally.

I would be wondering what sort of behavior went on with the ladies he saw after me that precludes him from using them as references. While its possible that some of the women may not be reference friendly, surely not ALL of them are unwilling to provide references. If they are reference friendly and he isn't using them as a reference, that is a huge red flag.

so I saw a couple of gentleman a very long time ago just once...I have since received several emails from each of them requesting that I vouch for them...by several I don't mean 3-4...I mean 10-15...now to be very honest I no longer remember much about these guys...the only thing I know is that I find it to be odd that with all the ladies they have seen since the last time i saw them 5+ years ago that they keep asking ME to vouch for them...maybe I am wrong to be annoyed by this...I don't want to be a jerk and tell them I don't remember anything about our session...it's like JC join datecheck already...at the very best all I can say is I don't remember anything but the annoying reference request lol

Is there a place in you website instructions, trusting you have one, you will only verify guys you have seen in the last year?

...especially after so many posts.  Most gals will only vouch for someone they've seen in the past year.  Seems reasonable to me.  Even if you're a low-volume provider, how would you remember them?

... many providers will not accept references that do not pertain to recent (in the past year) visits; so they wouldn't consider your reference for a visit 5 years ago to be valid and would require other references.

Maybe they use you in preference to other providers because you are a solid professional?

It's easy for a guy to get spoiled seeing ladies like most that I have seen, because they are always on time, ready, reliable and really good. And they take care of references in a timely manner as well. Though I've never used you, particularly, as a reference, I know for a fact that you fit that model of professionalism and reliability.

Not all references are equally credible. YOU are a credible provider, and a reference from you would be meaningful. But you know yourself, from personal experience, that some providers give positive references that are undeserved, etc. I seriously doubt you would ever accept any such ladies as a reference again once you've been burned once.

Furthermore, there is a population of providers out there, I can't give it a specific number but I know it exists, who can't be counted upon for anything -- much less a reference with a time constraint.

I am thinking now of a popular and reasonably-well reviewed provider near me who charges pretty high rates for the area. Some time ago, I tried three times to see her. I am an extremely patient man, and try to be understanding. But I made confirmed dates with her three times; and every time when I got to her in-call she didn't answer her phone. Basically, three NCNSs. Then she'd text me next day to apologize. Well, even I am smart enough to know better than to try again -- MY time has value too.

But, if I had managed to see her on the third try ... I still would never imagine using her as a reference because she is so danged unreliable. Maybe her rates are "professional," but her way of doing business decidedly is not.

So, if I were to guess why you are being used as a reference by guys who saw you long ago, it is because you are a credible provider with sound business ethics who is professional and reliable.

No good deed goes unpunished forever. LOL

I would suggest that the next time you receive such a request that you respectfully decline explaining you have a policy not to verify individuals that you had not seen for over a year.  This protects you and certainly it is safer  for the lady trusting you as a reference .   If these guys are still active and most importantly legit there is no way they should not have plenty of current references.    You absolutely are not being a jerk .....actually, they are.

I also tend to use one particular reference, for just that reason.  I must say that I feel guilty about repeatedly "using" her in this way.  I posted a string a couple months ago about possibly gifting her somehow for this useful service.  (She pipes in on this forum from time to time, so if she sees this, she should PM me and let me know where to send a nice gift I have in mind.)

... but being heterosexual, I'm not sure I can distinguish between attractive and unattractive men.

But I'll agree that my description of women being "really good"  (or very attractive) is indeed subjective as can be; along with the additional variables of YMMV added on top.

Tell them striaght-up that 5 years is too much time past for you to even vaguely remember them. Suggest they ask  someone they have seen within the last year for references. No need to feel uneasy being direct and blount.

you are all correct...I mean it is what it is....you can be drop dead gorgeous, nice as pie, great in the sack and 5 years later I still won't know who you are lol

Perhaps you could tell them to join a referral site you use, like Preferred411 or Date-check, that would give them a one-time, permanent reference providers can see.

I use both those sites but don't think the provider references are "permanent."  You should check yourself but I think they're only good  for a year and need  to be renewed.  Still, no reason not to use them.

I don't verify for many reasons.  First I never have, used nor do I intend to use,  the 'ask a stranger if the guy is OK' method of verification.. but also .. I feel terrible to say to anyone... " gosh.. it has been 6 yrs and you only saw me one time.. I dont' remember you".     I USE TO have the fact I never verify for anyone on my site as suggested by another responder BUT men don't seem to read it.. doesn't stop requests and it puts extra words on a  site men are not keen to read anyone.  things there need to be concise and we all hope a modicum of common sense dictates in some areas.

I have no clue why anyone can't simply have a conversation with a potential client. find out about him in a normal person on person way and decide if they are their cup of tea or not. (?)

I guess take it as a compliment that you were so memorable in thier minds it seems like only yesterday you were together.. ah ha.

total agreement with you though. does seem bizarre WTF are they thinking. xx Alea

...the best con men and psychopaths are incredibly convincing and often charismatic.  Ted Bundy, anyone?  So you must have incredible powers of detection in order to weed them out and not  use any other verification. I wish you the best of luck and safety, but color me skeptical.

I completely agree with you on what you wrote.  My response to the other poster was because she seemed to be "only" following her gut and doing no other screening, which I think is naive.
