TER General Board

I second that emotion. Sharing the board cuts both ways......

Earlier posts on anti-semitism, the overweight, handicapped, ethnicity, and religion have prompted me to create my own post.  It seems so many of us have our own causes and are not afraid to express our opinions on them. Overall, we are an enlightened group when it comes to sexual activities and the sex industry.   However, why can't we show some of that enlightenment in other areas of life?  We are a sort of kinship here..brothers and sisters with like-minded ideas on sex.  Why can't this advanced thinking be mirrored in other areas?

People, we are all different.  It's those differences that meld together and make for a very unique and interesting world.  Why can't we all embrace those differences and stop hating on each other?  No matter what religion we practice, what size clothes we wear, what handicap we live with, or what color our skin is we are all of the same race...the human race.  As human beings, we all want the same thing.  We want a safe place to raise our kids, health, wealth, sense of belonging, security, freedom,  love and acceptance.  We want to live our lives as we see fit, hopefully, in a positive and contributing manner.

It seems everyday, I come to TER and there is yet another thread emphasizing disgust and hate with people different than ourselves.  How can we expect to have world peace and unity when we can't even get along on a damn discussion board?
I am not naive enough to think that we can all love one another and everything will be peachy.  But, why can't we at least tolerate one another and our differences?   We all have brains and we all have hearts.  Why can't we all start using them?

JMO and thank you for allowing me to share.

What a ridiculous post.... This lecture belongs in a 3rd grade classroom.

(Don't forget, nobody can rip me because we're all supposed to hold hands and sing songs around the campfire! Accept my difference!)

Well, if people here fight and argue like 3rd graders, then maybe a 3rd grade lecture is what they need!

I do accept your differences......have a terrific day!

No one says you have to hug and kiss everyone, but why the personal heat and even nastiness when it comes to overweight, underweight, gay, TS, older, poorer, blacker, blonder, non English speaking, Republican, Democrat, you name it people.

The only thing you can do to prevent it, or stop it is fill that space with something else, like tolerance, wisdom, understanding, reasoning and perhaps even love. The P@R board is that space where hate is allowed to enter, and not enough of us do anything to fill it with anything else.

P.S. I'm guilty. Though I've posted there several times, I get tired of, not being called names, but being shouted down, and fail to read it for awhile. I've found that there are some very well informed people there, and have learned some valuable things, but I just tune out when the hate mongers tune in. Many of them are just provoking responses to get attention.

it is that behind closed doors, everybody loves everybody ;-) and wants to be accepted for their differences. This is a big world and we are all different, but tolerance/curiousity makes it a lot more fun!!!!

and put them together; we will have a happier TER community.

Too much other sh*t in the world of work and sometimes in our communities to carryover to our play time.  May 2009 bring all gents and ladies true happiness in hobbying and elsewhere.

I love the contribution you have made to this board by stating your hopes for community and solidarity and peace. It is so true, we are a sexually open community but there is so much hate that goes on in the boards too. We should find the common ground that we have with one another and then use our community for bringing about peace and change in our own neighborhoods that we live in.
Thanks for sharing your views with us and starting this conversational topic.

The internet is not really a place for tolerance. Anonymity breeds a special sort of non-accountability for one's actions and the result is evident on this and other chat forums everyday.

It would be nice to think that thousands of folks who share a common interest can be civil regarding other topics but it's not realistic. Something tells me that you could visit a site dedicated to knitting and crocheting but if that forum had a P&R board, or even a general board, there would be some amount of rancor among members on one topic or another.

I take this and any other internet forum for what it is and don't spend too much time worrying about what it will never be.  There is some great discourse here and there is also a fair amount of useless BS. Sometimes the BS is entertaining and some times it is an insult to one's intelligence but that is the nature of an anonymous open forum.

Let's all just hold hands and sing koom bi ya... Oh but we CAN'T, because it would offend the atheists!

How about if we just all agree to disagree and continue to argue our points of view as iron sharpening iron?? (there I go again, using a Bible-quote to offend the non-Christians, LMAO!)

Something is ALWAYS going to offend somebody, some of us are just better at it than others...

Much courage is garnered behind the safety of an internet connection and alias.

I have my own few prejudices, but keep them to myself. Robbing someone of their self-esteem makes for long-time enemies, which no one needs.

Bostonguy57 and mattradd pretty much summed it up, and "people" like Icky-Bob Crane and Ben Rover proved it...and I am stooping to their level calling them names, but I figure in my going out post, WTF.

Without involved moderation keeping things in a particular direction, yeah, it is bound to go where it has.  Unfortunately, it means a lot of the best people on here have left it, and you can count me in that group right after this post, which I only made because I want to tell Belinda that she is a doll for posting it, and I agree with her, and that she is beautiful for it.

It's sad thinking what this board used to be and what it often is now. Atlas Shrugged, once again.

Well I was going to go out quietly but that is my exact same plan. Guys like Ben are just pathetic to say mean things like that to Belinda who wrote something positive. Ben you can be funny but why in the world do you need to ridicule someone who wrote a sincere beautiful post. At least Ben used his real handle and then we have the really tough guys like Richard Simmons who cannot even use his real handle.  He's a real tough guy. Ben, Richard, just what in the hell do you guys look like? Are you overweight, bald, wrinkles here and their? I see bullies like you in my office allthe time but they are usually about 8 years old. These bullies main problems are they feel so bad about themselves that the only way to feel better is to pick on someone. I would say in reality you guys are deeply insecure to be doing stuff like this on an anonymous board.

Moderators, you need to enforce the rule about no personal attacks from an alias. Flip their alias every time and repeat offenders should be moderated!  Actually people who personally attack someone else with their handle also need to be moderated. It does not make a person tough because they decide to argue this nonsense with these tough guys. The GD board now has the same tone as the P&R board.

I work hard at my profession and this is supposed to be entertainment and informative. I am sensitive and I do not like to see people like Belinda attacked. I really don't care what anyone says about me because I do not even know any of you. I agree with Boston Guy some level of ignorance is ineveitable but this has gone to far. I had not posted for over two weeks and I think that is the healthy thing for me to do.

If guys think it makes they tough to spew this nonsense and that guys like me who don't want to play are whiny left wing wimps so be it and go for it:) I don't care to play:)

But as for me, I'm not going anywhere. The benefits are too great. Since I've become a chatterbox on the boards, I've gotten some nice perks and promotional offers in the community. Just last night a wonderful provider out in LA who I happened to mention in a recent post, but whom I've been unable to connect with, e-mailed me out of the blue to thank me for my nice comment on the TER board and to ask if I'd be around anytime soon. The profile helps with my hobbying.

Two comments – Life is full of sorrow and pain. You really can't expect that hobbying would be any different. Of course, if anything, it would be worse. You can perhaps try to shield yourself from that, but if you're going to be an active hobbyist, then you're going to run into your share of sad and unpleasant stuff. How can you really think this board would be immune from that? Have you read the criminal charges that the founder of the site is charged with, for example?

Secondly, you can be absolutely certain that although sometimes the aggressive posters on the board seem to rule the day, there is a silent majority of readers of the site who appreciate the more moderate posts. The misogynist posters are always quite sure thy win every exchange, but in reality they don't. I'm sure there are many folks out there hoping you won't leave the board so there will continue to be a good share of positive, moderate comments.

Cheers to you both!

the result being that we have to be able to deal with the argumentative, the DQs, the WKs, and the frat boys. It's a wide world out there. And in here.
I'm probably very high on the hit list of those who want the board to be all sex all the time, and those who have a nasty sense of humor. Some of these folks have gone out of their way to sink several posts of mine in retaliation for my expressing *an opinion* differing with their point of view or agenda. I'm not going anywhere. I'm simply going to ignore posts that do not appeal to me and choose more carefully who I engage with....

I just had to reply to your post. It's thoughtful and so is Mr. Self-Destruct's point of view. I can have a laugh with the best of them and not get too offended, but there are a lot of mean-spirited people here now. In fact, I am quoting something from the home page:  "Please also feel free to make any suggestions you think would benefit this site."  And, "Do not cause trouble for trouble's sake." It would benefit this site if moderators would either take down hateful posts or reveal those alises. I opt for the second one. Come on, Phuzzy, do it. Please do it! Do it! Do it! I dare you . . . :)

It's always healthy to take a break from here time and again and not listen to negativity from certain people, like those who call us Drama Queens just because we post frequently or post a warning. When, in actuality, they are the Drama Queens/Kings, especially when using an alias. No one takes him/her seriously. Life is too short!  :)

Peace and love (and, oh yes! HUGS),
Ciara
