looking for recommendations on preferred lube for anal. Also if there are any recommendations on best butt plugs, would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Is this with a fleshy cock (or fingers) or a silicone dick or some other kind of material like glass or metal? Are you using condoms? If so, are they latex or a latex alternative like polyurethane?
I like to keep four kinds of lube on hand:
The first anal lube is a water-based cream that's known as You'll Never Know it isn't Boy Butter (or Boy Butter H20 for short). I like it because its nice and thick and thus great for lubricating tight spots. As a water-based lube, its safe with ALL CONDOMS and its also great for a variety of dicks (flesh dicks, silicone dicks, metal toys, etc). Its strong enough to use for fisting sessions (when I insert the entirety of my dainty fist into an asshole), although usually I just use it for strap-on play
And since its water-based, its pretty easy to clean up.
The second anal lube is a silicone lube called Uberlube. Silicone is awesome as a lubricant - probably superior to water-based lubes - although sometimes silicone lubes can shorten the life of silicone toys. Some silicone lubes are considered "toy safe" but any silicone to silicone contact is going to degrade a toy over time. So I never use silicone lubes when I might be fucking someone with a strap-on. But if its just my hands, or if someone's asshole is really hungering for my glass or metal toys (but not a strap-on experience), Uberlube is what I reach for. Uberlube is also safe with all condoms.
The third anal lube is refined coconut oil or Crisco (okay, that's two types, but they fall under one category). These are natural oils, and as such, they degrade latex. So never ever use latex products with natural oils. However, I only use polyurethane condoms and nitrile gloves, and these materials work perfectly with natural oils. Natural oils are kind of fun simply because they feel a little less commodified than marketed lubes. And really, Crisco is exceptional for fisting and going deep. But no natural oils are easy to clean up, so be prepared for some staining.
The final lube I keep around is a water-based gel called Sliquid Sassy. This is not for anal, however. I keep it around for when it comes time to use a Female Condom (on myself) - I like to slick it up real nice inside with that Sassy (its actually an imperative with Female Condoms to add a little more lube inside). And Sassy doesn't have any flavor to it, so its great for instances when a gent would still like to watch me swallow a load after taking it in doggy. Sassy is also safe for all condoms.
