Videos from this "John TV" dude awhile ago He's basically a peeping Tom with a camera and now he's switched to drones. Great! Dudes a major asshole with some mental issues.
This article is worth a read as an example of the implications that technology, such as the growing domestic use of drones, can have for the privacy and operational security of both providers and clients. What is interesting is that the drone was not part of LE operations but that of an anti-hobby vigilante.

As for the license plate reader/John letter, that is bogus. A whole lot of guys who had legitimate reasons to be driving down that street are going to end up being sued for divorce on account of that activity, and I think they have a legitimate case against LE for their woes.
We are both avid drone hobbyists. A few month ago we were attending a festival in the desert when I managed to finally hook up with a guy I had been chasing for about a year (and when I say chasing.. I mean all but molesting this poor chap who was just too oblivious to my advances)
we had wandered off from the crowd to get busy with each other in a remote part of the desert. Right as I thought i was I was about to get lucky.. I heard a buzzing overhead.. my friends drone had found us and he could see everything on his iphone.
Of course this didn't bother me, but the fellow I was with was extremely shy and couldn't proceed.
Needless to say, my bestie got an earful shortly thereafter.

Seriously, if you don't want to be seen in public don't go out in public.
