TER General Board

I recall a somewhat different history.

Come on lets be positive here. All of the negative comments are annoying. Where are the intelligent providers and the intelligent and tasteful hobbyists. No time possibly for the board? Doing something productive and being chased away by people ripping on each other.....anyone agree?

I have meet two women who are very delightful to be with. Each shows me a great time in slightly different ways. Just wish I had more money!

I posted a couple days ago in a thread that got deleted that I no longer felt TER was time well spent.  It used to be entertaining and informative, and a place you wanted to spend some spare time.  But it has become juvenile, mean-spirited, and frankly just boring and tiresome.

We used to have some real interesting people on this board- a nationally known humorist, a guy who devoted his time and money to help commercial sex workers having legal or other problems, GENTLEMEN who had years of hobby experience, sexual adventurers (not unlike "The Most Interesting Man in the World), and a wide range of delightful ladies that made it all the more interesting.

Then something changed, and it may have been demographic.  The average age went way down, the older gentlemen were replaced with guys stuck in extended adolescence, the level of discourse plummeted to below that which is frequently called "locker room" and the name calling started.  None of this was tolerated in the past, but that also changed.

People that would have been moderated or had their TER accounts cancelled in the past, now were allowed to shout down, abuse or insult anybody they liked on a regular basis.  The inmates took over the asylum, and anybody that didn't want to play in the mud with them eventually just went away.

The only way to change that is to go back to the policies of the past regarding the moderator controlling the tone and quality, of the boards.  Look at the Legal Corner, or the Erotic Highway, you don't see the stupid, aggressive posts on those boards because Legal Beagle and Love Goddess simply won't tolerate them.  Inappropriate posts disappear.  And if you keep it up, you disappear.  As a result, you can post a question and get an answer on those boards without being assaulted by a bunch of losers with no life, or drunks sitting in their underwear at a keyboard.

The guys that dominate this board today aren't interested in other people's opinions.  They're only interested in having a sounding board for their own words and to shout down, and dominate those who disagree with them- just like a spoiled child.  They've marked this board as their territory and the only way to get it back is for the moderators to take it back.  Until that happens, you'll just have a continuing stream of personal attacks, juvenile and moronic responses to posts, and name calling- just like in junior high school.  So the people that don't find that appealing will go away, and that just reinforces the bad behavior of those that stay.

Many other website discussion forums have been faed with this situation and forced to make a choice.  It's up to TER admin to decide if it's going to take action to get back to the quality of the past, or is it going to  turnover de facto control of the boards to those that shout the loudest and most often.

I agree that 5-10 years ago, the General Discussion board used to be pretty tame and my local (Los Angeles) board was more rowdy.  Then the situations reversed.

I disagree, however, that a post like mine wouldn't have been allowed.  In fact, in my saved PM history, I have communications with previous moderators on subjects similar to this.  I know the moderators have a difficult job, but I think that many of the posts we now consider acceptable would have been deleted in the past.

This exact same situation was addressed on in the LA Board in the early 2000's when it was getting out of hand.  We had a guy that contributed nothing except controversy and ill-wiil toward others and he was first moderated after multiple warnings, then when he still failed to get the message, his TER account was cancelled.

There is always a lot of turnover and new members at a site like this, and people will look at the boards and take their cue, from what they see as acceptable behavior from the existing members.

Thats nice to hear, people are a lot quicker to complain than praise.

I have only been a ter member for a couple months, so I am amazed sometimes to hear the way people type dumb ass things without even thinking. Also service isn't what I expected, but I guess providers need the site more than the hobbyists, so maybe its because I am a woman. Overall, the reviews seem to be the best in the industry......but beating each other down with words seems to be a complete waste of time and counterproductive. This is supposed to be a positive resource, not a bashing one.

A post like yours would never have been allowed then either.  In reality, the regional boards were meaner then and the general board was kinder.  Moderators have always had the same latitude, and each individual has always moderated with their individual style.  As the people moderating come and go, the board's personality evolves as well.  I currently moderate several boards.  The Las Vegas board is downright tame these days, and it used to be one where you would routinely get shouted down.  While I have a hand in shaping the board, I think you're giving the moderators too much credit.

I have been here 5 plus years.  Kept my mouth shut for a long time. As long as I can remember it went in spurts civil for a while then ugly.  When I finally took the jump and saw a provider and posted a review I felt I had earned the right to post.  I have been nailed for stupid shit a few times some I just didn't understand why but that’s the way it is in life also.  Other time I guess I really ruffled some feathers.  I never knew how to spell capeshe but I leanred. I don't know why but again its just the way it is.  Oh and I am never drunk sitting in my underwear drunk maybe but not sitting in my underwear.

A very well put summary of my opinion about how TER boards have developed, G2. I wish I had said something similar but, truthfully, I usually lack the will to put effort into contributing to the discussion boards anymore.

There used to be the typical sniping, but the main posters, the cliques I suppose, were composed of mostly gentlemen who set a standard of integrity. Hell, I fought, sneered and insulted with all of them at one time or another, but I felt safe around them and would buy them a drink at a M&G. It was fair to be kind to the ladies, because they were ladies, not because you're a "mangina" or somehow pussy whipped. And the only valid purpose for starting a shitstorm was to out fakery and manipulation

The boards these days are just too unkind, and a bit scary, even if the posters do make their veiled threats and frat boy insults within the rules of TER. I see a lot of stories of friendship in the dialog, but I would question whether the roots of those friendships are all based on pussy, and the getting of.

I don't have a program, and it's too much work to figure out the scores. Fact is, there shouldn't even BE any scores, but tell me that half of the guys on this board aren't tabulating them anyway. I hate to come off rude or critical of a bunch of folks that I know are composed mostly of pretty great individuals but, man, the collective interactions have lost their style and integrity. Just like any down-sizing, the ones to leave first are the one's you don't want to lose.

Sorry for the downer post. I'm close to deciding to turn off TER, and that really bums me out.
