I thought it would be an interesting discussion to find out how some of you came up with your handles!

I was replying to a recent post from “Luvsbald” on the Boston forum.  After reading his reviews, now I know how he came up with that handle.  Hehe I’m slow sometimes.  I know how Mr. Fisher came up with his!  That one was easy for me.

People always ask how I came up with the name Tigerbaum.  It’s a long story, but I will keep it brief.  When I first started escorting in 2001, I was tossing and turning in my sleep after a long day of working out, weight training and thoughts of the business.  Meanwhile, I wanted to come up with a catchy name.  During this tossing and turning stage, I was excited about the ventures escorting would afford me for travel.  I thought about my travel in the past and the opportunities to travel more in the future.  At the same time, my muscles were aching, so I thought I need some Tigerbalm, the Asian ointment for sore muscles. There use to be a Tigerbalm Gardens in Singapore, and many years ago I lived there as a teenager.   I wanted to visit Singapore again!  So, I thought, ahhhhhh…………Tigerbaum.com.  I knew I couldn’t use the same spelling!

My nickname has always been “The Tigress”, for my bedroom prowess, so I thought it would be a fitting and catchy name!  The “30” appeared after Tigerbaum when I created a hotmail account.  Well, I’m older than 30, but this is the number they assigned me!

Would love to hear some of your stories too!

One day I was debating with a conservative, and he had a cognitive dissonance event where his total belief that George Bush has never made a mistake conflicted with reality. he called me a dissident and I put the two ideas together.

I know this isn't politics, but cognitive dissonance affects almost everyone.

why Elizabeth Murray?  She is a VERY well respected contemporary artist, who recently had a BIG retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art.

The Turkana are an ethnic group who live in Northern Kenya.  No magic.  It just popped into my head.  I was there 30 years ago.

Once upon a time I was an (amateur) ski racer on the peninsula of Europe. A career-ending injury made me concentrate on a "real job" before I timidly gravitated back to skiing, becoming a professional (ski instructor). Somewhere along the line I moseyed to the island of America - with some detours. When I realized how much fun it was to help people to perform better in something they (and I) enjoy, I decided I would re-evaluate my options at age 64 because at 65 one could ski for free. That changed to age 70, so my re-evaluation became due at age 69. (skiing for free - as a member of the public, not uniformed - now starts at age 80 in most places). "To ski until 69" looked clumsy, whichever way I tried to spell it, so I changed it to my present spelling.
Of course, there is the (not entirely accidental) reference to a brand of scotch, a certain positioning of bodies labeled that way being a coincidence. Maybe. It's a fun position as is skiing  a 40 degree slope in knee-deep fresh powder. (That, incidentally, is the angle of repose of "average snow".) A 20-something student of mine (good looking, too) labeled her first experience of skiing powder snow in the steeps an "orgasmic experience". It is, to me, every time. And the textiles stay on! - on the slopes!!!

Ski

P.S. Re-evaluation is a ways away and many a testosterone-loaded hotshot in his 20's turns green with envy - especially when I ski in a civvie outfit. Not to mention his girlfriend going Uahh and Aahh....

We have a lady named Tiger St. Claire on my local Minnesota board too and there's at least one more hobbyist with the handle "Tiger".  So there are at least 4 of us so far...I suspect there are more.

Anyway, my friends gave me the nickname "Tiger" because they thought I look kind of like Tiger Woods and because I was the only non-white person on our college ski team.  Personally, I think it's a bit of a stretch, but several people have said I resemble Tiger Woods.

When I signed up for TER, the handle "Tiger" was taken so I picked "Bengal Tiger" and the providers who see me instantly realize why.

Interesting topic.  I am always curious as to how folks come up with their screen names too.

I have always been a sci-fi fan and loved all the different star trek series.  Liandra was the name of the base ship on Deep Space Nine and also the sexy computer generated voice that would answer the crew's queries.  I thought this psuedo woman's mystique and voice were sexy and so I "borrowed" her name.  - Lia

a vocation if not an avocation since I read in your posts passion, compassion and a sense of realism.
Not all of the above occur in the "standard missionary" and not all missionaries peddle religion.
I don't - never did - peddle religion either.

For the short version of the story: it's a collaberative variation on the name Seneca, an ancient Roman patrician.

I picked it out of thin air with 5 seconds of thought just to get on this board to read reviews of the first provider I was to meet (actually the third, but that's a long story).

She was an absolutely ravishing, marvelous woman,  and the session was a life-changing event. (A 10!)  Afterward, I knew I was in the hobby for keeps.  Next day, I checked out the discussion boards, loved what I read, started posting, and the hobby became a way of life for me.

There's an asterisk to this story if you want to read on. A few of weeks frequent posting later, my roommate asked me why I stole his handle.  He was a science fiction fan, history buff and very eccentric.  I didn't notice when I chose it that it was a name that he had been mentioning. He came up with it as a variation on Seneca: a Roman philosopher, statesman and dramatist.

By then the handle had stuck. I prefer to think of it as a modernization of that personage, rather than a corruption of him.

I had a different handle for years and sat quietly on the side-lines... But when my board was being smothered by PC over moderation, I created B.D. as a spoof-handle to cause trouble and stir the pot... It worked! And I ended up getting banned...
Then a week later I was chosen as the replacement moderator! ROTFLMFAO!!!

Goal accomplished in under 6 months!

Wanted codpiece, but settled for codpeace.

In the 15th-16th centuries, a codpiece was a flap for the crotch of men's tight-fitting breeches.

Sir Tom Jones, the Welsh singer, is famous for wearing oversized codpieces (commonly called cucumbers) during performances.

In TER Chat, etc, I am usually called Cod and have been asked if I am from Cape Cod, or sometimes just Massachusetts or Maine. Actual location - Boston.

As a youngster I was a cartoon fanatic. Obviously one of the favorites was Rocky and Bulwinkle, Boris and Natasha. Now I didn't pick up this name as a pre-teen, but in my 20's, I began to keep birds as pets. A couple of cockatiels to start named Rocky and Bulwinkle. When I expanded to the larger birds, my first was an African Grey. The simple choice was to call him Boris.
Finding a name that sites will accept is a nuisance at times. Boris was easy, named for my Grey, the 78989 came from total frustration of typing anything that made sense and being rejected. last 3 numbers on the keyboard, up and down  LOL.
I must admit that I still belong to several sites that my name is Boris98787 because in the begining I couldn't remember which direction the numbers went.

I wanted to use a name that was different from all the other names providers use. After looking at literally hundreds of names on the internet, I came across "Jacinda". Loved it. Changed the "c" to an "s" for even more originality.

When I registered on TER, I decided to use that instead of trying to come up with something else.
