I can actually understand some of the need to limit religious displays - Christian, muslim, jewish, budhist... or whatever.... however, once down the slope of "removing" religious influence in EVERY aspect from life is probably not something that most want...

If those who so zealously wish to remove reference to ALL things christian... or associated with christian holy days.... then should they also be equally zealous protecting us from Muslim beliefs - or jewish beliefs...?

Sadly they do not. instead we are told that we MUST use public funds to support art works that depict the crucifix sitting in urine... we MUST allow muslims the opportunity to pray during the work day.... we MUST permit muslims cab drivers to not pick up passengers at the airport.

yea.... These folks are really helping us out.  they wish a gray world... with no joy.  What is truly sad is that those in this camp offer NOTHING to replace what they take.  Insanity is a total loss of understanding reality.

There you go B-Dude, offending the do-good knee jerk meddlers. How insensitive. If you need to pick on someone do it to a white male Christian, they are fair game.

For several decades now Santas have been taught to can the Ho Ho Ho because it does scare little kids.

Instead they are to start right off with the..."what's your name and what do you want Santa to get you this year?

It's not a religious thing.

all a part of marketing... sadly - even before halloween this year I was walking in the mall.... and voila... there was a xmas tree....

In a kind of very religious way, I kinda wish that christmas would loose its commercial aspects altogether... which is why Thanksgiving happens to be my favorite holiday... no presents, no decorations, no music, no in-your-face advertising... and be ye christian, muslim, buddhist, jew, athiest, agnostic or whatever, you can be thankful.

so I wish you all a very happy thanksgiving.  May you have things to be thankful for.

I don't give a rat's ass if someone wishes me a merry christmas, happy holidays or a chipper kwanzaa.  It's nice that someone wishes me good tidings, and if they have a different thought of what happens after they turn cold & stiff, so what.

I'd be happier if our fearless leader didn't ask god for directions, instead of listening to advisers.  It would be great if the leaders of Georgia didn't pray for rain, largely because it makes people think that they STUPID.  But I don't see a real harm in it; I mean it's not like praying for rain is likely to decrease the chance of precipitation.

So, this holiday season, why don't we all try to be nice to one another, and not give a shit what the words are.

The problem with telling a stranger "Merry Christmas" is the implicit assumption that they "must" share the same religion as you. These same people would not normally tell a total stranger "Have a nice day" in the middle of February but have no problem announcing to you they are Christian in December.

the majority celebrate the holidays but few have any idea as to their origins or importance.

who loathes organized religion more than me, but I, like you have many more important battles to fight than whether or not someone wishes me a "Merry Christmas"

I really wish you didn't bring up Sonny Purdue leading a group prayer for rain. Not because I disagree with you, but because I do live in Georgia, and it does make us all look STUPID. I think I am quite capable of looking stupid all by myself, I don't need the help of an idiot Governor doing his Pat Robertson imitation.

Oh BTW, we did get rain yesterday, maybe he can pray that the Falcons get a quarterback while he's at it. lol
