Dear Ms. Summerhill:
During the course of the conversation did you notice something a little off because he was just a tad narcissistic? Also I was wondering did one of the things that turned you off also because I am sure although you have a preference Ms. Summerhill for guys over 35 was the fact that it seemed predicated on age that you might have had nothing to offer from a social point of view? With that said would you also say that a reason you don't see younger men is because of their demeanor and their lack of maturity although there are several men who don't fall into that category and would also be socially and intellectually compatible with someone of your age and experience level? Also with in a matter of seconds what is the first thing that you notice about how a man approaches you? Would it be how he would address you and how he would elaborate on certain subjects? Also would you say that you would like someone who is deferential as well no matter what the age? Your thoughts.

I think your instincts are serving you well, and the injury to this callow youth may well be more than made up for by the lesson he may (or may not) learn about how to approach people.

The song I have linked to seems to carry a strong lesson, albeit about a somewhat different trait but still germaine to the topic.

loppy, incomplete email is a turnoff bigtime.
The thought and care that someone puts into their correspondence with me gives me a sense of how serious they are about spending time with me as well as what kind of experience time with them may hold.

That isn't an exact science though- I have plenty of successful clients who cannot (or simply will not) write a coherent sentence to save their lives.  They don't care either- they sneer or laugh when confronted about it with the attitude generally being that they can afford not to.

At any rate I cannot believe I'm the only weirdo in this thread who is so amused by the offending phrase.
If some young boy said that to me I'd be like hell yeah, let me luxuriate in your youth.  LOL
Flip the script- if a young woman said that to a gentleman it would sound extraordinarily sexy.

I don't become excited by clients who behave as though they're doing me a favor- but I do enjoy clients who think that I will enjoy my experience with them and aren't afraid to express it as a bit of foreplay.  Mutual body worship and full conscious enjoyment of being with one another is fun- even if it does seem like an ego trip sometimes.

I would never contact a lady if I could not afford her rates.

I believe most hobbyist are probably older than me and that doesn't bother me cause one day I will be older.

Im a gentleman and you could ask any of the ladies that I have had the pleasure to meet.  I agree a younger guy may lack some life experience but we are working on that everyday.  We are not all discourteous, insensitive and oblivious, so don't jump to conclusions.

All im saying is all younger guys are not all that bad, im sure a few are, but im sure some of the older guys probably don't act their age either.

So don't let one young guy leave a bad taste in your mouth.

I got an email recently from a 25 year old who wanted to book time with me.  At first I was considering the possibility, somewhat curious as to what kind of young man could possibly afford my rates.

Then during one of our exchanges he mentioned I could "Luxuriate in his youth". I wanted to reply: Mind your manners, you'll be over 40 one day too. Instead I just politely avoided him.

At which I lost all interest in seeing him.   I can't put my finger on why I found the comment so utterly tasteless.

In part I'm defensive of the gentlemen I know well - who may be 40+ but are healthy, remain young at heart, and have thriving libidos.  Last summer I hiked up a mountain with a man 25 years my senior and I was exhausted long before he was.

I also have a personal life, with friends closer to my age and playmates closer to my age.

I suppose what rubbed me the wrong way was the proposition that somehow the men I see must be pathetic, or that my situation is pitiful.

It instantly reminded me why I rarely see men under 35 - discourteous, insensitive, oblivious.  Not because they're bad people, but because they lack perspective, self awareness, and life experience.

He probably assumed (correctly) that your typical client is older.  And he probably assumed, all else being equal, that it might be nice for you to entertain a young man.  Cut him some slack.  Is it not true that most of of your clients (and men in general) have throbbing ravenous egos that need to be fed?  This guy is no different.  Feeding egos is your job.  You passed up a great opportunity to show him how experience and wisdom trumps youth.  Any service provider worth her salt should be able to easily -- and profitably-- handle naive youngsters.  Their heads fill quickly with praise, they generally obey orders when naked, and they pop fast without any clue that they deserve more.  Easy money, baby.

I'm not saying that you should tolerate obnoxious clients.  I'm just saying that you should remember what the point of your business is.

Dear Lady,

Well, maybe not society but the way we mass-market this business.  I think part of the issue is we have a corner of the world where we take too many very disparate groups of people and paint them all with the same label.

On here for example, you can search for a lady based upon her height, hair color, bra size, etc., but there is no field to limit or sort on based upon personality, preference for 1hour vs 1 day dates, or any of the mental aspects of chemistry.  We often say--and accurately--that eroticism and sexyness is 90% between the ears but we ignore that in most descriptions and search engines.

To place the SW, quick turn lady working because she has to, the beautiful-but-distant lady, and the woman who does this part time because she truly enjoys it, and the professional courtisan all in the same bucket and say they are interchangeable because they are all 5'4", have long blonde hair, and have a slim build is asking for mismatches and disappointments.  A man looking to dash in, see how much physical activity he can have in 30 min, and leave--never to think of that woman again--will be exceedingly disappointed if he shows up at the abode of a lady who provides the kind of encounter that you do.  Neither is right or wrong, they are just different parts of the larger community.  It is like when I say to a guy, "I'm going to a sporting event tomorrow, want to come?"  He's a Good Ol' Boy thinking NASCAR and I take him to a Rucker League basketball tournament.  Disappointment is almost inevitable.

And you ladies know less about us in most cases.

Sometimes I wonder how such a large number of dates DO work out well.

But Lauren, the moral of the story is you should see more men 55+ and let the other guys mature a few decades more.

And thank you for sticking up for us Old Folks.

Nice to see you posting.  You have been absent from here and elsewhere for a while and I have missed you.

Anyone who uses a phrase like "luxuriate in my youth" is totally worth a chance- I'm sorry but that is bold and fantastic.  I die for emails like that lol.
Of course its out of context and we don't get to see the entire mail or exchange but if it was just that one phrase that took you out of it perhaps the tastelessness is more a product of your perception than what was truly there.

I'm typically not into clients my age or younger (I'm twenty-six) but I have a number of clients, some very regular) 20-31 who are fabulous.

Sometimes we don't make the best first impression in writing- on both sides of the aisle.  I understand when a comment strikes you just the wrong way, but that one just doesn't register to me as a slight.
Regardless of how youthful in spirit or physically active we remain while aging- youthful is not young, nor should it be.  There is nothing wrong with a young person encouraging an older person to revel in being with them because of their youth...which is how it reads to me.  He was probably just excited by the prospect of getting ravaged by a cougar lol.

That I do have 2 regulars under the age of 30....actually 28 and 24 perspectively.. When they first contacted me they were very respectful and knew exactly what they were looking for. Not once did I feel like I was with someone of those ages.. Yes I have gotten the idiot emails from young guys along with the phone calls. But I go by gut instinct when it comes to age. If it feels right, I do it.. if not.. I dont..

I did have one young man contact me recently telling me he could make me feel like no other.. I said he already did by saying that to me. Because no gentleman would ever speak to me as he had just done..and of course I hung up.. He became my mini stalker for 2 days ..I never answered his calls again..and he stopped calling..

I usually like someone over the age of 35 because they have already learned what they like in bed..have realistic fantasies that I can partake in (which I adore)..

I have found, the older the man, the more intune with a womans body he is..

I guess the old adage is right..

with age comes experience..

As long as a great time is had by all.. I am up for ALMOST any age bracket (within reason) as long as the level of maturity is there..

In this business you get to meet all types..thats what makes the world go round:)

I think there's also a sad assumption that older men are less virile, which I haven't found to be the case. It seems more a case of genetic predisposition and/or permission then it does a blanket rule.

I did have an interesting temptation with a 15 year old boy at a party recently - there was no one there under 25, but he was the exception. Dragged in by an older brother, and his older brother was oddly encouraging me.

However, I will say of this youngster, that he was well mannered, which was a large part of the turn on. That and the HUGE taboo.

I was good though - managed to avoid biting the apple.

I was willing to put up with the fact that he is likely not as well read, well traveled and thoughtful as my friends (even those under 35, but they're part of the art community and tend not to reflect their demographic).  I was just dying of curiosity to see what kind of young man can afford a thousand dollar two hour date.  The narcissism killed it for me.

The first thing I notice:  Do they write me a considerate introductory letter, tell me who they are, what kind of date they want, why I caught their eye.  Emails that say:

"Hi, Are you free Wednesday at 3pm?"

Get deleted without a reply.  I want to be treated with the same consideration people are treated in any other walk of life when romantic intrigues are involved.

The second thing I notice is punctuation.   Do they write proper sentences, capitalize when they use the "I", space paragraphs, spell correctly.

His initial email didn't have a single capital letter, comma or period.  So though I was willing to explore meeting him, I asked him his age, basically saying "I get the sense you're young, may I ask how old you are?"  And that's when that little turn off comment showed up.

To be honest if someone is thoughtful, kind, self aware and open minded - age doesn't mean a  damn thing.

2 reasons:

1. I have two mistress relationships that take up a lot of my time and pay support me well - so if I never get another review it won't matter.

2.  There are WAY MORE hobbyists then there are memberships on TER. The VAST majority of hobbyists have never HEARD of TER, and when I tell them about it are either entertained, curious or appalled.  The idea that a lady NEEDS reviews is silly - with good paid advertising and some touring, it doesn't matter.

Here's something that should blow your mind:

There are many very successful women that have NEVER had a review on TER or any other board.  Head in the sand much?

As a long time professional, I am in a position where I can choose who I spend my time with. Most successful ladies that manage a good career will be there eventually - though few are there from the start, and I certainly did not start there.  Fact is not the same thing as ego. It's just fact, which is much more banal.

I don't think curiosity about someone's lifestyle and background count as an ego stroke  - what exactly does curiosity in the world of ID and ego? People talk about their life on dates, and I was curious about him as a person - and then lost that curiosity.

Since you like to speculate on what someone is thinking when you have nothing substantive to base it on, let me play your game with you, OK?  I bet it is a fun activity.  Let me psychoanalyze Alpha.  I am sure I am every bit as good at it as you are.

I think that if you do have any reviews they are much younger providers who you can bully, intimidate, and threaten.  It would fit someone who has to label themselves as “Alpha Male”.  You know, most the time someone self-anoints a tough sounding name like that it usually means they are overcompensating for severe insecurity.  You are the one who brought up “intimidated” and “aggressive”.  Why?  The only reason that makes sense to me is they are the tools you are most familiar with, isn’t that right?

I am almost certain you are in your 20s or younger.  The reason you just cannot accept what Lauren is saying is because you know there is no way in hell she would ever see you with that attitude.  Yes, you will respond “I’d never try to see her!”  Vintage sour grapes if I ever heard them.  No, Alpha has probably already been turned down by Lauren and now has to build back his hurt feelings by attacking her.  “I’ll teach her to trifle with Big Bad Alpha”.  Yes, big bad Alpha Male had his feelings hurt that there is a well regarded, well reviewed lady out there who does not feel the need to stroke his ego for him.  He just cannot accept that some women might have the audacity to TURN HIM DOWN.  Oh, poor hurt feelings.  Poor pitiful Alpha.

Am I two for two?  Probably.

Hey, this psychobabble stiff IS fun!

Nonetheless there is also the matter of you decreeing that someone is “stale and dated” because they do not have a review within the time period you feel is appropriate.  You could have said “I do not see anyone who does not have reviews within the last thirty days”.  But no, you have to turn a statement about your personal preference into an opportunity to insult some for no reason.  At least no GOOD reason.

I had intended to get to sleep early tonight but I saw your post and had to play along.  You insulted at least four ladies I know who all fit the situation Lauren describes.  They were very, very good with excellent portfolios when they were seeing new clients.  When they reached a point they did not need the reviews they sought to go more low key.  But they did not ask your permission either, and so you consider them even more "stale and dated".  Personally, I do not like ungrounded insults hurled by someone with no pedigree against people I think are good folks.  They are far too classy to respond here even though two of them still are members, but I am not.

Now for a glass of wine to calm my blood pressure.

PS:  Actually I need to pour two glasses.  The lady with me this evening thinks I am being much to kind in my comments about you.  But do not worry, she would never be your type either.  Have a nice day!  :)

Discourteous? Oblivious? Lack perspective? This from the woman who was "curious as to what kind of young man could possibly afford my rates." Talk about an oblivious lack of perspective.

You think we need five decades under our belt to get our shit together? Half the guys here probably answer to someone younger than them at work.

I guess it's a cute little cliche to throw around; young men being trapped in the hormonal, apathetic teenage stage into their 40's, led by their dicks and incapable of a rational thought. Cute, but false.

We weren't raised via the 'go to work for someone else so you can spend decades clawing your way up a slippery ladder' formula. We are an entrepreneurial generation, hungry, highly motivated and focused. Miss oblivious - pay attention and ask youself why the majority of products are directly marketed towards us - because we have money, and we spend it. What a stupid fucking thing to say.

Maybe he just got his tax refund and thought you were so damn fine he was willing to trick it off with you. And?

Your reaction was to judge him based on a dry attempt at humor, likely prompted by nervousness. Because if he has any experience with doing this he knows there is a stigma towards younger men in P4P - namely all of the pretentious bullshit you listed above.

9 out of 10 times the moment the girl sets eyes on us the confused Scooby-doo look washes over her face, like why the fuck are you here - is he a cop - do I know him - does someone I know, know him - didn't I just see him at xyz club/bar/party...

Ok, I'm not a mind reader but I often speculate as to what runs through their minds in those first awkward moments before she inevitably says something like...'I thought you'd be older.' I don't care what their process is, but they often get caught off guard and it takes a while to get back on their game.

So you pop the age question and he senses the rejection coming on which prompts a little overcompensation with a slightly bold suggestion - maybe you'll enjoy fucking someone your own age...well what would give him that idea?

As you said, he didn't offer up that comment on his own, you pressed him on his age because of his e-mail grammar (while in the same thread noting you have successful older clients who spell like dyslexic first graders because they don't give a fuck)...huh?

My your feathers are ruffled :)

If you are the same man at 50 that you are at 25 - you have failed as a human being.  Generalizations are not set rules, but they do have their place.  There is much to be said for having more experience, due simply to the passage of time.  An amazing 25 year old will be an astounding 50 year old.

I don't believe it's discourteous, oblivious or lacks perspective to be interested in the background of a potential romantic intrigue - in fact I would suggest that this is a basis for building attraction.   He might come from a wealthy family, who has traveled the world with him and provided him with a spectacular education.  He might be a successful young professional - there's endless possibilities that make me curious - and believe it or not they aren't focused on the money, because the same amount of money comes from everyone regardless of their age. Generally when people want to be with someone in an erotic sense, it's a good thing to be curious about the other person, to want to talk, to learn more about them.

" You think we need five decades under our belt to get our shit together? " Half the guys here probably answer to someone younger than them at work. I guess it's a cute little cliche to throw around; young men being trapped in the hormonal, apathetic teenage stage into their 40's, led by their dicks and incapable of a rational thought. Cute, but false."

No, but I do think, like every other human being - I am entitled to have a "type" of person I'm attracted to.  As the search engines on this site suggest - that often involves age and physical appearance.   The truth of the matter is my attraction to older men is not one of maturity or intellect - there are men of all ages that are horribly insecure, mean spirited and selfish - the boards are good evidence of that.    There are no set rules about what age a person reaches maturity, however it is fair to generalize. In fact it is based on these generalizations, that we assume teenagers are not emotionally mature enough to have sexual relations with older partners - even though they are physiologically ready for sex, their impulse control and ability to consider consequences is lacking - and based on that *generalization* we pass laws that make sex with teenagers illegal - a wise move.  Does it apply to every single teenager out there? Hell no. But it does apply to enough to justify taking extra precautions. And historically, a very very recent change in human relations as most of history people could marry and begin raising a family at 15 - necessarily when life is challenging, brutish and short.

My attraction to older men is based on LOOKS.  Older men frankly look more attractive.  Their eyes are  more expressive, I have always found silver hair attractive (in fact in some Asian culture youth will color their hair gray, or as they call it "ash"), and I actually love their hands.

The way their faces and bodies develop (assuming they take good care of their health) is frankly more attractive then a boyish look. It is in fact why I as a teenage sought out older men, because I thought they were HANDSOME.

"We are an entrepreneurial generation, hungry, highly motivated and focused."

On that aspect I completely agree, as I've been doing contract work since I was 17.  Based on the fact that our modern world allows for youth who are motivated to educate themselves, and that with work that can be done through the digital world means you never need to meet your clients - you can advertise and send files, and as long as the work is good, no one gives a damn how old you are.

But back to generalization - being young and motivated professional does not suggest one is mature or emotionally healthy. The world is full of snakes in suites,  there are aggressively cruel people throughout he corporate world at ever level of success.  Simply being older and successful does not make one a desirable bed partner.

"If you don't want to see men under 35 that's your prerogative, you could simply advertise that fact rather than trying to psychoanylize e-mails. "

Hate to burst your bubble, but I do indeed see younger men.  When I'm actually attracted to them.

Psychoanalyzing emails is a reality for providers - whether you like it or not. It has nothing to do with attempting to discern your age, it has everything to do with trying to figure out whether someone will be respectful, safe and if we will enjoy their company. If you don't want your emails analyzed, you may not want to book providers by email - because they're all doing it, in their own best interest.  Whether you like it or not is completely irrelevant.

She eclipses the poor bastard - and I wonder if he has any idea how lucky he is that he dodged this bullet? He might have actually dropped a bundle on this witch.

The day I worship at the feet of an arrogant judgmental hooker to see if I pass muster for her to accept the envelope is the day I put a bullet into my own no-self-esteem head.

I love it when divas like this out themselves - personally, I wouldn't fuck her for free with a stolen dick.

No worries, I didn't get the sense that you were being confrontational - I'll leave that to the men on the board LOL

You profile says your 21 to 25 so ten years did not add up. I am guessing that you stumbled into this business at 18.  You must have had the right stuff and the right crowd so kudos to you.

I do like younger women but not illegal.   There are plenty of legal age providers available.  I bet your were trouble for many men during your teen age years

I guess whoever did my first review probably didn't know my age, they must have gone by how old I look.

Thanks for the kudos :)

But being of a similar age to him, I know that the vast majority wouldn't be willing to frivolously throw a thousand dollars for some pleasure when they are still immersed in a culture of young women. They may not be poor, but a thousand dollars is a lot of money to *most*.

And whether my rates are high or not depend on who you ask - that's a matter of perspective.  A gent who has to save up for a $300 one hour with his ATF will find my rates ridiculous.  A gent who is a regular of Chelsey Heyden will find my rates most reasonable.   My rates in NYC are fairly common, in Toronto they're high.

Pot calling the kettle black.

That is a fairly broad stroke to paint a picture with. I am 25-years-old and have enjoyed several encounters with women all in their 30s that have found me to be a delight.
