I thought my wife was totally clueless about the hobby. I felt her knowledge of the hobby comes from the stereotypes exaggerated on shows like 60 minutes and Dateline.. However, once she said something that startled me. Here's the story.  

White, ie unmarked envelope is when someone gives cash for something. I don't think it was specific to hookers. Before internet and PayPal, venmo all blew up   I often gave cash or check as presents or voluntary donation, in white envelopes. Perhaps with a card but often without.

Should have used gift bags stuffed with singles,

I’ve been blessed with friends who appreciate me, so I get thank you cards, Birthday cards, gratitude with meaning it’s totally different, than a plain white envelope. The majority have words of inspiration wrote inside that tell me I am loved. They come in all colors. White is plain, boring & has no meaning. Try buying a box of thank you cards & writing something with meaning.

once to put the donation in a birthday card.  I forgot about it until the day of the appointment, so I asked my daughter if she had any unused birthday cards laying around.  She gave me one and I put the donation in it.  I gave it to the provider when I arrived, and while I was in the shower, I heard her laughing.  She had opened the card and on the front it said, "Happy Birthday to a 7-year-old", and I had taken a Sharpie and put a "2" in front of the seven.  It got the session off to a light-hearted start.

Of course most providers know about the "WHITE ENVELOPE".  Notice that I said "PROVIDERS". Meaning those who have done this type of work.....Not every Female knows about the "WHITE ENVELOPE". As a matter of fact you might just get some crazy looks from those who never escorted.
