My experience tells me that typical is 50%, about $20/day room & board and about $1/day for them to tell Uncle Sam how much you made. Some girls have the power to negotiate better deals, but that's the norm.
The prices on that show are greatly inflated from normal. The girls may quote that, but usually barter down to a lower number.
On a positive, it's legal and no marketing is necessary on the woman's part. All activities are covered and nobody is gonna rough up a girl and live to tell about it.
On the negative, the girls are pretty much captive for the time they're working (due to the state's testing regulations). In my opinion, the biggest negative is that the woman has to register with the state (it might be county) as a brothel worker. It is something that could come back later in your life, should you decide to become a nun, lol.
I once saw a silly little mockumentary on HBO called Cathouse, which takes place in a legal brothel in Nevada, and it got me thinking. As I recall, the prices these providers were charging were outrageous! I realize that the brothel owner probably takes a hefty chunk out of every fare, and, obviously, one of the reasons for the astronomical prices is government regulation and taxation. But the prices are so high that there'd be plenty left over, even if 60% went to management and the government. It just seems to me that a woman can make a ton of money in a legal brothel, and she'd also have little to fear from disease, rape, theft, assault, and arrests.
So, ladies, what stops you from packing up and moving to Nevada? I suppose some of you would cite your families, children in school, significant others, day jobs, circle of friends, etc. So pretend for the moment that these things don't exist. Imagine you woke up tomorrow with no day job, no family, no friends, no social life, etc. Would you just say "fuck it," and relocate to Nevada? I'm just curious.
I don't have personal experience working in a brothel since Nevada will not issue escort licenses to transsexuals but I do know a little about brothels from a previous life... ![]()
The girls work anything from 24 hour shifts to weeks at a time with no break. It is their choice, mostly. I have heard working conditions are not optimal. Not abusive per sey, but certainly not good.
Income is mostly split 50-50 with the house. The money is not a good as you would think, because most brothels are not full of lines of men. (Maybe on Sat night.) But the Paradise Valley brothels are pretty slow much of the time, or were a few years ago.
I would guess a top professional in Vegas will make as much in a day as a brothel girl will in a week. Of course a brothel girl won't get arrested.
Anybody actually worked in one?
What is your opinion?
Best,

there are many, many reasons why i would never wish to work in/for a brothel, some of which you have already mentioned (being away from spouse/friends, having no life outside of escorting, etc.). but i also think that legalized prostitution in this country is a total joke, and i do not agree with the heavy taxation and government regulations. i also do not agree with the idea of a brothel taking 50% of my earnings, i don't care how high they are. and that's another thing...i could never feel right being a brothel girl knowing a man is paying something ludicrous for my services. i've never been the type of girl to just want to charge as much as possible, i want to be fair and reasonable as well. this is why even though i am in the DC area (where folks make plenty of money) i will NEVER charge an hourly rate of 300 or higher...a brothel girl can easily go for twice that or more. that is just not ethical to me and it's something i could never do.
also part of the thrill in this for me is the taboo/danger of it, due to the illegality and social stigma of it, and i will admit even the risks involved. if it were just a typical job like any other, it'd sure be a heck of a lot less fun.
Ditto!!! No way!! It's not so much about the big earnings for me as it is about the independence. I haven't "clocked in" at a job in a long time. Plus, I'd rather avoid the drama that would most likely be a part of the Brothel scene.
I was a week of hell.
The owners and managers were vile and dispicable to her.
A cup of coffee cost her $10; so much for making any money.
Working conditions were unbearable. I was practically in tears as she told me the story.
I hope it is not typical of all legal brothels, but it any are even similar, I would advise against it.

I know a lot of women who have worked the brothels, some still do, and business is erratic as hell. A few top girls do extremely well and some make peanuts. One top girl told me that in her heyday she took in $800,000 in one year. After the house cut and taxes, she netted less than $300,000. She now works independently.
I made the mistake one time in LV of driving out to the one "closest" to LV--75 miles away and I thought I'd never get there--the desert all looks the same and it seems like you pass the same landmarks 12 times. The place was like you expect--a bunch of mobile homes lashed together. The ladies were not very pretty and their first gambit was for an outrageous sum--figuring, I guess, that they have you over a barrel. Negotiation resulted in a still-overinflated price for ordinary service. I wouldn't go back.
Now, watching the HBO series, if I got a crack at Isabella Soprano, maybe I'd take it. She's pretty gawdamm cute.
I got my first piece of strange at a place just over the line from Bishop and Mammoth in 1978. It was great $20 for half and half. Price went up to $60 an hour at the U&I in Wallace, ID in 86. Subsequent visits as late as 1991 to the Green Lantern in Ely for $40 the hour and Mustang Ranch 2 $50 for a quickie.
Imagine my shock when in 2003 I went to the places outside Carson City like those on the HBO series and was quoted $800 the hour. But, there certainly was a lot of ladies lounging around with nothing to do on a weekend night.
many many moons ago and she said the competition was so fierce that there was an incident where somehow nair was found in someone's shampoo bottle.
she believes women in general are very evil creatures.
i know i dont want to go finding out.
can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em.
By & large, the on-going relationship seems to work best for me - until it doesn't.
So like life itself, one day it ends. C'est la vie.
