Some like Off The Clock ( OTC ) contact; others frown upon it.

Depends on the lady.

I'm more than willing to trade emails daily, or even chat on the phone, and there are a few whom I do this with;  but it would be presumptuous of me to just expect her to chat with me because I feel like it.

Time is money, after all.

How often do you contact your ATF when between visits?

Do you send a text?  An e-mail?

Or do you only contact her when you're ready to set up an appointment?

I'll send her a text or e-mail  once a week or so just to see how she's doing.

I both text and E-mail as well. At least weekly.

I would send email messages asking about how she (my very first ATF) was about once every couple of months. When I started getting quick, short and to the point replies back from her like, "Thanks" or, "I hope you are too." I decided to stop. I did not want to become a bother so I usually only contact ladies when setting up an appointment now. Some ladies might like the correspondence but then again I am sure there are others that don't want the attention. Especially if they get tons of emails for setting up appointments and are more business minded than anything else.

I have had several friends in this biz over the years. I figure that if a friend wants to check in with me, she will. If I don't hear from her, I assume that the timing is not right for her. I will hear from her when she gets time. I don't need to remind her that I am interested in how she is doing. She knows.

No need to bug them when they receive hundreds of e-mails a day.

And the others are to set up appointments. We are both busy people and don't get together all that often, but we have developed a comfortable familiarity beyond the obvious basis of our relationship. I tend to follow her lead. When she sends me a note about, say, an outing with her dogs - we share a fondness for dogs - I respond in kind. Rather low key but pretty cool too.

but occasionally my drunk dialing or texting kicks in so far it has had a humorous response.

id love to text her and call her every day,  but i know it is a business arrangement so i keep it in that context.   as soon as she posts an upcomming tour date,  im first in line with a "cant wait to see you" text.  anything beyond that may start to look like stalking.

I like it, as long as it does not turn into an everyday thing! I especially like it from my guys in the cities I travel to every 6 weeks or so. It let's me know they are thinking about me and the next time I return. I also found out after a couple of visits, and when I feel comfortable enough, to ask them if it is okay if a text or email them every now and then to see how they are doing.

I think it helps build a bound while still keeping it professional.

Smooch!

If I don't call my ATF for a few days she'll probably call me.  We're friends and both are very comfortable with it.

My previous AFT was also a friend, but she liked to keep it to a long e-mail every couple weeks and a call on special occasions or to schedule.

I do however have several provider friends some of which I have relations with, some of whom are just friends where we communicate just like any other two friends do. What's the big fucking mystery?

Most provider/hobbyist relationships are business ones, and guidelines need to be followed. It never ceases to amaze me how many guys need a roadmap to such a commonsense issue.

FWIW, I just got an unsolicitec text from a provider friend, (yes I am a customer of hers) informing me that the weather sucks where we live and that maybe I should go somewhere warmer for a few days. Thinking about it, in a way she cost herself money considering I probably would have seen her professionally upon my return, but as I said "we are friends", and it was nice of her to give me a heads up.

BTW, I plan on taking her advice, and I think I am headed to Costa Rica for the weekend. lol I fly into Houston late this afternoon and have a choice between going north or south, in light of the weather report, I think I am headed south. lol

come on guys, use your brains. It shouldnt be that hard to figure out who your friends are and who is just "being nice" for business purposes.

I would enjoy it if my companion would quietly text me to remind me it's been a while since we had a visit and she misses seeing me.

Sometimes I get really busy at work and I start to forget things that are important to me, but not pressing on my consciouness right at that moment.  (That, and I lock my phone so no one but me can answer it, or see texts...discretion is the word!)

I have never texted a companion without them texting me first.  They are like doctors and lawyers (most like psychologists in my mind "rent-a-friend") and they have their own jobs to do.  Also, what if they are with a client?  Granted, their phone should be off, but mistakes happen.
