Trolls seem to drive everyone nuts.  bbfs4ever puts up a provocative OP and everyone goes nuts.  Either they start yelling, "Do not feed the troll!" (thereby feeding him) or they rant and rave about how awful and mean he is (thereby feeding him).  This is a great environment for trolls, hence we will keep seeing lots of them. I think it's entertaining as fuck. LOL!

As you pointed out, Melissa, it makes for good entertainment.  Another useful function is that the rest of us can blow off steam by jumping all over them (case in point, see my snarky reply to OTM above).  I believe it was GaG who coined the term "board pinata" to describe the trolls that we get to dump all our negative emotions on.

A troll is a true provocateur, out to stir up shit such as the OP and the ones mentioned above by GaG.  A piñata is a feckless fool such as FG, who everyone dumps on but he comes back for more.  TER has had some major pinatas in the past such as lungman (a/k/a The Dungbeetle) but the greatest piñata of all has been permanently banned and his handle cannot be mentioned on pain of banishment.  He was the best!  We can only hope for a piñata like him to return some day.
