howd you bold?

Sharing is caring. I am donating blood 🩸 this morning.  If your health is good and you’re able please consider a life changing impact your donation can have on a human. There’s a Holiday shortage, and a constant need for blood donations. I highly recommend donating blood to help a life.

Great post Queen
In addition to blood there is a need for platelet donations for cancer patients. Takes longer time to donate but the need is as great  and a donate more often.

Some people undergoing surgery have a blood disorder that requires transfusions with blood plasma. The process above, which I have done, spins out the pure plasma after which the red blood cells are put back into you. This has to be done a few times, so it's much more time-consuming than simply donating blood, but very valuable.

I don’t think I ever did that but years ago I did something similar called apheresis pretty regularly for some time. They pull out some blood, spin out the platelets to keep, and give the rest of it back. As you said, it takes quite a bit longer than making a whole blood donation. And they use a bigger needle so the platelets don’t get destroyed on the way out.

Apparently I was blessed with good platelet count. They would often take two units of platelets. I have no idea what volume that is, I only remember them saying things like “a unit” or “two units”. They said usually a person could only give one unit at time. But with me they’d often take two units in one sitting and tell me that my platelet count after that was about what the average person’s normally is. I don’t remember the exact number but I know I got to over 30 “units” donated.

Anyways, have they changed the rules about that? How are these people in this thread talking about giving blood? I stopped donating when I started this little “hobby”.  Every single time I went, I had to do the same questionnaire and if any of the answers were “wrong” they wouldn’t take the donation. One of the questions was about paying or being paid for sexual services. I don’t remember if it was have you ever or have you in the last X months.

I always wondered why they didn’t just test the blood for all the various infections and mind their own business lol. Is that maybe what they’re doing now?

Of course, once we all found out what an asshole Nordberg was, I told the blood bank that I would only give the donation if they promised not to give any of my stuff to him.

Then there was that time I stumbled into the new blood bank. Well, I thought it was the new blood bank but it turned out to be a sperm bank. My gosh what an embarrassing mixup that was. At first I thought they were jerking me around when they said I had to extract it myself. But then I could see they were standing firm on that principle. Standing firm and proud they were, at the sperm bank that day. I mean, I thought self checkout was bad, but DIY blood donation? Okay if you insist…
What a mess.

I still have the scar.

My guess is the original questions had to do with paying cash to donors only to do the testing and find a large number of donations to be unacceptable. Hence, the large scale DQ on identity-based markers (ALL gay/bi folk, sex workers, etc) for cost savings in testing/processing. Also guessing that the shift toward behavior-based DQs is the greater public awareness of things like HIV/general health plus product shortages. How can you reincorporate the once-shunned into the donor pool? (what a visual🥴) By focusing on behaviors that are more likely to lead to unacceptable donations and let everyone else who reports "no unsafe behavior" donate.

Here in Panama, blood banking is very different. It's illegal to pay for blood so we rely heavily on donations. If you have a procedure scheduled and there's the tiniest chance something catastrophic something may happen then you are heavily encouraged to pre-bank several pints. There's a fee structure around the hospital processing your own blood for your procedure (if memory serves it's like $150ish) and if you don't have self-donated blood and cannot get volunteers to come in and donate, you draw from whatever meager resources the hospital has as 'left overs' at an additional $350ish/pint. We have universal healthcare here but certain supplies like blood are still on a cash basis. It's not at all uncommon for there to be emergency calls to the community for a certain blood type because someone had an emergency and cannot afford the $500ish/pint or there simply isn't any of their type in the hospital reserve.

I had an issue in 2022 where I came within a hairs breadth of bleeding out and without 2pts of stored donated blood, I wouldn't be here. So yup, I donate quarterly and when I see a call for my blood type.🙏🏼

Weren’t sex workers are under permanent disqualification due to high risk activities according to Red Cross guidelines?

As long as you aren't truthful on the intake form, they will accept your donation.

It varies by country and institution. The shift is from "have you ever" questions which disqualifies large swathes of eligible donors to "in the last 3 mo have you done X activity with anyone new" type of questions. Personally, I'm STI tested 1-2x/mo and have never had a positive result so if anything, my blood has a pedigree superior to the average person on the street in a supposedly monogamous relationship (whose partner may be messing around) who can answer "no" to the "in the last 3mo" kind of questions. Because I KNOW my blood is safe, that's a lie I'm willing to tell a bureaucrat to potentially save a life.

is you lying to us, or did you lie to them?  sex workers aren't supposed to donate blood.

https://www.redcrossblood.org/faq.html#eligibility
-have received money, drugs or other payment for sex

- Every 2 seconds someone needs blood in America.
- 37% of the population is eligible to donate but only 3% does
- if just 1% more of the population donated then blood shortages would be alleviated
- 25% of donated blood is used by cancer patients
- AB blood type (+/-) is best for plasma & platelet donations

I do a double red cell donation every 4 months.  Great post!!

you left out some facts:

Do not give blood if you have AIDS or have ever had a positive test for HIV infection, or if you have done something that puts you at risk for becoming infected with HIV.

You are at risk for getting infected if in the past 3 months you:

--have used needles to inject drugs, steroids, or anything not prescribed by your doctor
--𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝘅𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝘅.  𝗔 “𝗻𝗲𝘄” 𝘀𝗲𝘅𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝘅 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗢𝗥 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝘅 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝘅 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝟯 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀
--𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝘅𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝘅
--have received money, drugs or other payment for sex
--have had sexual contact with anyone who has ever had a positive test for HIV infection
--𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝘅𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼, 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆, 𝗱𝗿𝘂𝗴𝘀, 𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝘅, 𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗱𝗿𝘂𝗴𝘀, 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗶𝗱𝘀, 𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿

so....why do you lie when you donate?

Bc donating my healthy, disease-free blood which I get tested more often than I donate is more important than those discriminatory questions. Why do you like your own posts? Need to pat yourself on the back bc nobody else will?

He's asking the right question though. I gave him a like too.

As we discussed months ago, a negative test does not actually mean that you don't have a disease. It's a snapshot that can change depending on incubation period etc.

These questions aren't "bureacuratic", they try to eliminate as much risk as possible. This is serious business with blood infusion.

The qs aren't "discriminatory" because putting someone else's blood in their body is iiterally their business so if you're in any risk group they don't want your blood.

Instead it seems you feel like you know better than the people you're trying to help, and even are lying to them.... as well as putting them at more risk.

Parents in India devastated as children with thalassemia test HIV positive

On Wednesday, authorities in central state of Madhya Pradesh said five children with thalassemia, aged three to 15, have tested positive for HIV, prompting concerns over blood transfusion practices. A committee has been set up to investigate the cases.

Yes, the rules of the Red Cross have changed to be more inclusive of our alphabet society.  Regardless, the survey is about sexual activity, NOT about WHO the sexual activity was with.  This is right from the Red Cross website.. "Sexual activity questions are based on specific behaviors, not on sexual orientation. The words “have sexual contact with” and “sex” are used in some of the questions, and apply to any sexual activities (vaginal, oral, or anal), regardless of whether a condom was used during the activity."

....Individual Donor Assessment

Under the FDA’s individual donor assessment eligibility criteria, the donor history questionnaire is gender-neutral and all donors will answer the same questions regardless of gender or sexual orientation. This includes sexual behavior questions to assess individual risk factors. Any individual, regardless of gender or sexual orientation, who has had new or multiple sexual partners in the last three months, and also had anal sex in that timeframe, will be asked to wait three months to donate blood from last anal sex contact.

HIV Preventative Medications (PrEP/PEP)

If you have taken a drug to prevent an HIV infection, known as pre-exposure prophylaxis and post-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP or PEP), you are asked to wait three months from last oral dose and two years from last injection to donate blood. The waiting period is required due to these drugs interfering with viral replication and thus possibly altering the detectability of diagnostic and screening tests for HIV, including extending the window period prior to detectable infection or a delay in producing antibodies.  (Both paragraphs pulled directly from the Red Cross's website)

I don't care how virtuous a person needs to feel, the last sentence should stop anyone in their tracks if they fuck ass or get their asses fucked and/or take PrEP/PEP and want to donate blood.  IF you take PrEP and don't wait 3 months and are infected, you could be passing infected blood to a medically compromised and innocent person because the PrEP  may hide the virus.

Wouldn't that be the ultimate tragedy?  A young kid battling leukemia survives it only to end up with HIV/Aids???

....or choose to ignore the part where it said PrEP may cause the test to be inaccurate, meaning it could help hide the virus  living in contaminated blood.  It was glaringly specific.

Along with a lack of understanding of the 'window period,' She seems unaware of how pool testing works.
If her sample is rejected, a dozen other donations are discarded with it, worsening the shortage.

Oh MommaBia, so now you want to turn the Fuck Boards into a church outreach space.
Yes we all know you are an incalculably amazing individual. You are the best mother that's ever lived. no doubt your children are brilliant and now we find you are also a selfless person that donates her (questionable) blood. And on top of all that you let dudes have their way with you for $$$$.
But here's the thing you don't know. All those people that don't loiter here on Mother Superior Bia's Good Works Community Board don't come because they don't care about your children or your mommy skills.
The VAST majority of guys come to TER to find out where to get an awesome blow job or Greek, and what fetishes are available.
All this "MommaBia Single Mom extraordinaire" belongs on Twitter, Facebook or IG. Perhaps you can tell the other mothers at Sunday school about giving blood. But on TER it's about giving HEAD!!

Ok that's it from me now everyone have an awful day and may all your dreams fail miserably/

I feel like your holiday was miserable and you are projecting.

Prove me wrong

Nope, we also go to our favorite Chinese restaurant.

It's called sarcasm, it used to be a form of humor, making fun of someone, but now that making fun of someone is a criminal act I imagine I will be hearing from the authorities.

Elly_May80 reads

then write like sarcasm or something at the beginning. it sounded like you were cursing all of us and were just having a bad day in the end. you made so many credible points. then you negated them at the end and thats what people remembered and remarked on. but you're still bad ass for stating your opinion.

Thanks. But….
Bia ends her phony, inane posts saying “Smile for me” so I was doing the opposite
So…Have a great day!!!!! 😂

Elly_May56 reads

its an even better post now that i get it. have a good day, beautiful, and smile for me.

I donate every year to the human society. I did not respond to her post, but I did like it. I posted this thread & you continue to be a hater.

Best wishes for a positive & peaceful New Year!

Yes Momma you’re right again. But perhaps someday you will grow up and realize it’s ok to have differing opinions and views.
And while you get paid $$$$$$$$$$$ for your old body. And ANNOUNCE your extraordinary donations people continue to go without food and housing, shit healthcare and nobody truly cares.
Every year another few charities get busted for corruption.
While you and your little boyfriends talk nonsense.
Again I will point how few people are reading this nonsense.
and it’s not me, who posts 10 times a year that’s chasing people from your silly community.
Using terms like “hatter” shows me you spend most of your waking hours on social media.
Freedom of speech will not be blocked by childish groups like yours. Good riddance and enjoy your boys club!

Anyone following her for more than five posts knows she hasn't given a drop; she’s just clout-chasing to keep her name at the top of the feed.

I stopped a little over a half way through the American regional boards and stopped because I believe she was active within a mouse scroll or two on every single one.  Started in Alabama and quite somewhere around New Jersey...

Makes me wonder whether she really has any customers because she’s trolling on the Boards every day. Don’t know how she does it with all those kids and an active prostitution practice?

There's more than a few things that I'm beginning to wonder but my only issue at the moment with some of the folks in this thread is the utter lack of respect for protocols and restrictions on donating blood.  They clearly don't give a shit about the rules but have no issue playing hematologist and making ignorant decisions that very well could kill someone as illustrated in the link a few posts above.

It's great that people donate but if you can't do it safely....DON'T!   FFS, you can throw all the cash at them you'd like, trust me, they'll take it and put some of it to good use.

Makes me wonder whether she really has any customers...
She certainly does, and I'm one of them whenever she visits my neck of the woods.

Go ahead and call me names - I don't give a shit. The fact of the matter is that Bia is a wonderful provider and an even nicer person. She's not a highly volume lady and is very unique in this realm. And she's not kidding when she says that her clients become her "friends for life" and I consider it a privilege to have met her and call her a friend.

But probably best a bunch of overly sexual active people dont go donating a bunch of blood. Common sense.

I’m donating a bucket or two of the white milky stuff this morning! Does that count?
