How much do hobbyists spend in this biz?

We'll here I go again.  Also under an alias as this seems to be a touchy topic and I do want to protect my standing on this board.

I am what you would call a "weird" hobbyist.  Here is what I mean.  A few weeks ago I passed up a provider who has an average rating (TER) of 9/9.  Pretty hot huh?  Why did I pass her up?  Because I felt that based on my sales(commission) for that month I didn't want to spend $350 and take time out my schedule.  But then one week later (the same month) I saw a provider that charged only $200 and only had 3 reviews.  Why did I do this?  Because she agreed to some real kinky sh--.  Allowing my to spray her face with whip cream while performing BBBJ and agreeing to wear sunglasses I provided to her during this act.  In addition, she agreed to allow me to call her all sorts of names.  This was a BBW and not very attractive by conventional standards.  That was some of the best money I ever spent!  I can't wait until she comes back to town.

Now before you think that I don't have some great income let me state this.  I make a six figure income and live well.  Why dicker about $350 bucks?  Because I know how real money is made in life.  You don't indulge yourself constantly.

The hobby for me is just something akin to going to a concert.  I go to a few special events a year and that's it.  So basically I spend about $2000 per year on the hobby.

I am I under/over the average?  You tell me.

Like your last post asking what a Provider makes, which I did not respond to, the answer is obvious ... it is all relative. You say you make 6 figures a year but would rather be very picky about what you spend. O.K. - someone making 7 figures a year may spend $200 or $2000 on a date because of their choice, or someone making high 5-figures make spend $500 on a date because of what they wish to achieve. There is no answer that will fit everyone, and I personally don't understand the preoccupation with money. You post under an alias to "protect" yourself on the board ... what difference does it make what a provider earns (it's their business), and how can you equate someone elses personal desires to a dollar amount? The cost of a date is only an issue if you can't afford it. There's an old saying - "Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten." You get what you pay for.

A more beneficial question, although I still don't understand why you would want to know, would be "what percentage of your income (gross or net) do you spend on the hobby?" This way, all can relate to it ... 5K a year against a 100k income = 5% for the hobby, etc.

Again, though, each individual may have a different reason for hobbying and a different priority, so I still don't see how numbers will mean anything, unless you are just curious.

I really don't worry what other guys spend, but what I spend. I make a six figure income as well and spend about what you do a year in one month. I am new to this and will slow down in time but right now I enjoy seeing the same ladies as well as some new ones. I think you are obsessing a little too much on money and this biz.

Do what you feel like you should and don't worry so much for what others do. If you are somehow trying to justify why/won't you spend what you do it will drive you and the rest of us here crazy!!

but you have nothing to apolgize for where it comes to spending your own money. You have every right to spend money on whoever and whatever you choose.

To answer your question. I spend a ridiculous amount of money on the hobby, but much of it is only related to the hobby not on the hobby itself. To clarify, much of my hobbying is done outside of the country. I take at least a dozen trips to Latin America amongst other places primarily to hobby. I am sure I spend six digits some years on my hobbying activities, but much of it is on hotels, gambling, airfare, and drinking. The rest of my money I spend foolishly. lol I am a pig however and it's a rare week where I don't see at least a couple of different women.

What's ironic is the fact that when I hobby stateside I rarely see providers over $300. Like you I can afford whatever I want to, but in my experience I have been happier with the more modestly priced ladies, and I have been dissappointed more often than not with the PP's. This is not a slam on the high dollar ladies, just a personal observation, and as I mentioned before, "it is our money"

$2000 a year? For me that is way below average.  How much you spend is going to depend on quite a few variables.  What is more important to me is that I spend it without guilt and without the feeling that I could be putting that particular segment of my income to better use.

Still not sure why you choose to hide behind an alias for this stuff...

satisfaction. BTW by my standards $2000.00 a year is very low.
It's a relative thing. There is no limit on what I would spend. There is a limit on what I can spend.

I dont give two sh**ts what other people spend, only whether or not MY money is well-spent.

i think that someone may be trying to write a masters thesis in economics on the biz. if so the methodology has serious sampling error problems. i see a C minus coming up....

While I do not worry about what others spend on the hobby, or let it affect my hobby choices, I have thought about this question before. It seems innocent enough and certainly is not worthy of the kind of negative responses that have been posted to this point by a few.

Who's to say what's average, but in the 9 months or so since I started in the hobby, I have spent about $15,000. I am sure that amount will decrease in the next 9 months, not as much due to the economy, but more so due to the fact that I have been going crazy with dates and have more recently found a more reasonable (for me) pace.

I do not think you are a "weird" hobbyist by choosing to spend $200 vs. $350 in the specific situation you mentioned. What's weird is the whipped cream all over the face and sunglasses during bbbj...WTF? ;-)
