Does GPS come from provider ego, or perhaps... it is the guys seeking some "distinction" that have created the phenomenon? Is GPS a male ego syndrome?

Your thoughts?

Is it basically anyone that's priced over what you personally think is reasonable? So it's relative I suppose.  I'm guessing a poor guy in Costa Rica would say paying 300 is nuts, you say 1000 is nuts?

Also why are you concerned about it? Does it pain you to know that you cannot partake in it? Do you often criticize how other people spend their money? Are you also questioning those who pay $50 for a pair of socks when Target has them in 6 packs for a fraction of the cost?

Your answers?

to know that every provider that chooses to set rates above the purported "norm" can be accused of having Golden Pussy Syndrome - an overvalued sense of self, an "ego".

I am simply questioning whether that is the case, or whether the client market drives the rate, rather than the provider. In other words, does the client seeking "exclusivity" create a market at the high end of the rate scale - is it the overvalued sense of self or ego of the guys that drives higher rates?

I'm inquiring about the business and social dynamic dynamic, not any particular provider or rate, and I'm not complaining about rates as many do. I'm simply curious as to whether others think GPS exists at all, and whether it is more a provider or client phenomenon.

Perhaps it is the "cheap" guys who vilify higher rates and call it GPS that has created the term, as you purport. Easy enough to say without the ad hominems

There is such thing as monopoly or the law to sell something at fixed price, but free market is consumer driven. The provider can think whatever she wants, but only fee paid to her can justify the price. And repeatedly and constantly. Xo

There are many types of buyers. Some can't afford anything beyond cheap specials. Others are value buyers. Value buyers don't look for the cheapest but don't succumb to marketing buzzwords. Then there are a few guys who look to pay 1K an hour because they think they will get a prettier more "exclusive" better in bed type of girl.

I have seen girls in price ranges from 200-2K.

The higher priced girls are marketing gimmicks. They will always have a web page that says "exclusive" "for discriminating tastes" "highly educated" "For VIPs" and on and on.

It took about a year to realize that the only difference between a 3-500 type of girl and a 1K+ type is marketing and packaging.

It's not GPS. It's marketing to different types of  buyers.

Of course from my understanding the buyer now can do the top to $500/hr. girl. Why $700/1k/2k i can't comprehend. Xo

The typical rate varies from one city to another but 3-500 encompasses the going (market) rates for the majority of TER reviewed girls. Most mongers will look in that price range.

Those of us who have been around have found that after a certain price range you reach diminishing returns. The girls at over 500 are simply no prettier or better in bed or offer a better experience than the ones in the 3-500 range.

The more I spend the higher my expectations. Hence, above 500 is diminishing returns.

$300 for airfair, 3 hours with me for lunch a for some preivate time, equals to only $1200 - 1500 range ( $500/hr. girl). So on this $300 you can do to whatever you want ( you can give on cheesburges, I love them) or you can put it in your retirement plan. Xo

Considering the going rate is about $100 hr down there, so to pay triple market price would be nuts, even nuttier than paying a grand in NYC, which is roughly double the going rate.

I really don't care what others pay and when I am in CR I pay a hundred bucks not three hundred, in Texas I rarely pay more than three hundred and if I lived in NYC I suppose I would pay five hundred. It's not a matter of what I can afford, if pussy rose to a thousand bucks an hour and that became the new going rate I could  and would afford it, but it just seems kind of foolish to me to pay twice the rate just to prove to people I don't give a fuck about that I can afford it. That's the same mentality when a beer drinker orders a five hundred dollar bottle of wine to impress the waiter. It's just dumb IMO, but I respect the rights of others to be dumb as they see fit. I suppose people think I am dumb for risking the price of a nice new car on a single hand of blackjack.

You are thinking that a $ is a $. It's not. The value someone with a 7 or 8 figure income attaches to a $ is a lot different than what someone with a 5 or 6 figure income.  So in terms of what the buyer is giving up the guys in the first group paying 700 - 2000 are probably not feeling it as much as the guys in the second group who pay that 300 - 500.

The other question is, is the total service bought the same in both cases? I'm not so sure and that's where I think the initial questions is a bit problematic -- are the prices really only about GPS (not that I know what the meant!) or is it about aspects unrelated to the P?

Income is not net worth. There is a difference. The one thing I've noticed about people who have high net worth is that they don't piss it away. Maybe in L.A. people try to emulate a Hollywood lifestyle but not around here.

High net worth people are the ultimate "value buyers." That's how they keep their net worth.

but no that's not the reason I did something that sounds so dumb.

The dealer accidently showed her hole card to reveal she was sitting on a stiff twenty. You don't lose any more money by busting than getting beat 20 to 18 so I hit, and yes I hit a three, one of my all time memorable hands out of literally thousands of hours at a card table.
