I find the best horror films are Japanese.

Battle Royal - Lord of the Flies with better weapons.

not really a horror movie, but it's still funnier than the dickens.

The quasi-horror flick, The Island of Dr Moreau, and the original The Island of Lost Souls are my favorite horror flicks.

I love psychodrama thriller type stuff more than anything...for example:  Shutter Island, Saw (series), The Ring (1 and 2),  and Silence of the Lambs.

Romero's Night of the Living Dead was the scariest, but not really my favorite.

Hitchcock's The Birds, is the best done and the most apopocalytic.

But this one always has been my favorite, if for no other reason, Vincent Price....

(James's Whale's Frankenstein and Tod Browning's Dracula deserve mention.  I love the classics.)

familar with "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things"? [1972] by those cinmena immortals Anya & Carl Ormsby [if you read movie titles and credits faithfully you will still see  their names pop up on occassion].

It is a remake/spoof of "Night of the Living Dead".  And in glorious color, as they used to say. It stands in relation to horror movies as spaghetti westerns stand in relation to traditional western oater shoot-em-ups.

All three, disturbing and gave me nightmares, lol.

I think it is Nicholson's finest moment (Which is saying a lot.)

But I don't consider it in the horror genre, despite having so many horrific moments.

It's almost more like science fiction (despite no science to speak of), because of the clues inserted which when you follow them closely, make it most interesting.  (In fact, it may really be a detective story.)

In any case, it's right up there on my ten best films.

(And guess what?  I'm going to be staying at the hotel which the story is based on this summer.  EEEEEEEEEEEE!)

my favorite genre...!!! The scariest (book and movie both) The Exorcist ... sorry not an original answer but I doubt another movie could ever top it. Just rented The Orphan, and I was definately creeped out, good movie !
